Inspired by the insatiable wanderlust and rebellious spirit of Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt, the historic downtown mansion once owned by the businessman and scion has been reinterpreted for the modern era as a lively and stylish social destination. From a secret bar tucked into a corner of the sumptuous Doris Duke-inspired parlor to the specially-commissioned series of mysterious and moody old world still lifes sprinkled throughout the foyer and lounge, the scene at The Vanderbilt is crackling with coastal curiosities and alluring eccentricities waiting to be discovered.

The location of the hotel is convenient to shopping, restaurants, etc. The staff is amazing and the hotel is quaint. I would not recommend the first floor rooms since they are located in "shared amenity spaces" which allows for other guests to use the area making it loud while in your room. The rooms are dark despite large windows because of inadequate lighting with dark carpet and furniture.

We had an absolutely amazing experience at this unique property! It had such historic charm and classic dark features that really made this mansion feel different than a modern hotel. We were impressed with the level of service throughout the hotel, and felt personally recognized in all interactions. It was truly five star service. The lofted suite was so special and far exceeded our expectations! It was a spacious one-of-a-kind room in design and layout. We dined at the Roof Deck and enjoyed views of the city and the Newport bridge, accompanied by outstanding and prompt service from the team. Breakfast in the Conservatory was over the top and the portions were very generous. Complimentary valet was a great perk while staying here, though we were just steps from the main shopping area. We can’t wait to return!

Excellent property, staff and location. Great boutique hotel feel and scale. Delightful team and breakfasts. Use of Mercedes onsite was also a great bonus.

For a thousand dollar per night hotel room, this one was woefully inadequate. The lighting throughout and especially in the bathroom, was very poor. There was no bathroom counter or drawer space. One of the two ac units was not working (although, it really wasn't needed) and the TV was position such that it could not be seen from the bed.

It was a beautiful day with a very attentive staff, and a very unique viewpoint of Newport, Rhode Island. Would 100% stay here again or at another property in the future. Was an exceptional stay.
