Reviews for An Lam Ninh Van Bay Villas
My wife and I are both Travel Agents in Brisbane, having stayed at 267 Hotels / Resorts in 116 Cities in 42 Countries. So we feel we are in a position to know the difference between a good and not so good hotel / resort. After 2 days and 1 night in the bustling city of Nha Trang (Read separate report on the Intercontinental Hotel Nha Trang) we were really looking forward to our 8 nights at L'Alyana Villas Ninh Van Bay. We were collected from our Hotel in Nha Trang at the exact time we requested and driven to L'Alyana's reception / jetty for the short speedboat trip to the resort. A great idea to have all the check-in formalities completed here before the actual arrival at the resort. Cold drinks and face washers were provided here, along with bathroom facilities. After formalities were completed our speedboat was loaded with our luggage and 20 minutes later we arrived at the resort. We were met by the Duty Manager and introduced to Huang who was to be our Butler for the duration of our stay. All 33 Villas have access to a 24/7 Butler. The resort is totally private. There is no access by road. Access can only be gained by sea. Don't come here if you want to party, party, party. Stay in Nha Trang. This is secluded, quiet, peaceful, casual and laid-back luxury. We were booked into a Hill Side Villa. There are three categories of Villas, Ocean Front, Lagoon, and Hill Side. The Hill Side being the least expensive. These villas are really for couples, and although access requires a bit of a climb up steps, certainly made worth the effort for the view of Ninh Van Bay, and the breezes one gets due to their elevation. The villa was on three levels, the middle level an outdoor Sala, being the Lounge Room. The lowest level being the bathroom and the top level being the bedroom. Separating the Sala from the main part of the Villa was the Plunge Pool. (All the Villas in the resort have their own Plunge Pool) The bathroom was huge, separate Bath and walk-in Shower, and Toilet. Wardrobes were also on this level. The Sala was equipped with Mini Bar fridge, and a separate Wine Cooler fridge. Coffee and Tea making facilities are here also. Being open-air of course no air conditioning, though does have a ceiling fan. The top level was the bedroom that also had a small ensuite toilet and wash basin. It also had it's own balcony with two chairs and a table. The bedroom is the only part of the villa that is air conditioned. It also has a ceiling fan. The resort is quite spread out, and golf buggies can be called to transport guests to the restaurant or any other part of the resort. Push-bikes are also provided for every villa. The resort also has a main swimming pool, and of course a private beach. There is a small Boutique, and a well equipped Gym. In the Bar there is also a Pool Table. There is just the one restaurant and a bar. There is an activities centre where various excursions and activities can be arranged. From sunset cruises, yoga, Vietnamese cooking classes, scuba diving etc etc. We do agree with the previous report below, they could do with a small "convenience store" on the property. We were prepared, having 2 nights in Nha Trang to shop, before we arrived at L'Alyana. So brought with us all our snacks, beer, wine and soft drinks. The one restaurant is all that is required, as there are only 33 Villas. The breakfast buffet catered for all tastes. The choice from Western European, Vietnamese, Japanese and Chinese. Huge array of fruits and pastries, and of course an egg station. The lunch menu also had many choices, with the added advantage of a snack menu. The Bar also had a finger food menu. The dinners were the stand-out. The menu consisted of Entree's and Main Courses covering Vietnamese, Asian, Western and Vegetarian cuisines. The quantity and quality of every meal was consistently......................fantastic!!!! The food and beverages were by no means cheap, but one must remember the logistics involved in operating a restaurant in such a remote location. Saying that, there are many choices on all the categories of menus that are very reasonably priced. I have not mentioned the staff. I have left the best till last. From the gardeners to housekeeping, to security guards, to the waiters / waitresses, and to our butler. Every single person we came into contact with. The gardeners were doing a great job. The security guards were friendly and polite. Housekeeping and pool cleaners could not be faulted. The restaurant waiters and waitresses were friendly, polite and professional. We will not try to name individuals, in fear of missing someone out. We did have our favourite's of course, and we're sure they know who they are. And our butler, who didn't have much to do, as we aren't the type of people who require this type of personalised service. He did though check in with us twice a day to ensure that everything was OK. Without the staff that they have employed, this resort would be nothing. On the day of our departure, the Duty Manager sat down with us in the bar, whilst we were waiting for the boat to be loaded. He was virtually asking us for complaints! He was wanting to know where we didn't have our expectations met and exceeded. His only concern was that he wanted to hear complaints, so he would know where things could be improved. We were most impressed! As travel consultants we certainly would recommend this resort to people who are looking for a holiday of absolute peace and relaxation. Thanks to ALL the staff. It was you that made this holiday such a memorable one.

We purchased a 5 night Luxury Escapes package that included: Transfers from airport to resort, both ways Breakfast buffet each morning Nightly 5 course dinners for two Two x 60 min spa treatments per person! Bliss! Included yoga, guided hikes, use of kayaks each day Butler that organises anything/everything Daily transfer into Nha Trang if you wished - (we didn’t go at all, happy to stay at the resort) Not included: any drinks at the restaurant or bar, lunch, day trips But we did get fresh fruit, drinking water, and cake in the afternoon brought to our villa plus tea/coffee/milk complimentary We opted for the slightly cheaper hilltop villa- and we were so glad we did!!!! So private. 3 levels. Plunge pool. It was amazing. The lagoon villas and beachfront would not get the stunning views. We had to climb about 60 or so stairs but well worth it. We felt away from everything. Highly recommend the hilltop villas for sure You also get bikes to get around the resort if you don’t want to walk The food and drinks in the resort are high western prices, as well as costs for the spa, so if you do not get these things included in your package be prepared for a large bill as there is no where else to get food or drinks from But on the other hand, the Beauty of being in a secluded resort is that it is quiet, and clean! You can totally relax. We spent days on the beach, after morning yoga or a hike Afternoons in our villa pool with a movie Then to dinner by the resort pool, home again to our villa There is no convenience type store in the resort which was annoying - to get a chocolate or packet of chips if you were peckish- so I recommend bringing a stash of snacks with you... we were full most days from breaky so actually only got lunch 2 of 6 days as we snacked on the fruit and cake The service, is above usual Vietnamese standards, but I still think could be improved - but overall satisfactory I gave 4/5 as I think some little things for a expensive resort could be improved- quality of towels, refilled drinking water without asking, nor attentive staff We used the gym a couple times and was satisfactory A beautiful clean place to visit if you have the spare cash

We stayed for 3 nights in a 2 bedroom beach villa. Absolutely beautiful! The rooms are stunning , the staff are lovely and the food is fabulous. They are still recovering from last November's night storm which saw massive damage to the property, so things like the gardens etched are very new and don't look as established, but give it another year and it will definitely improve. My only negative feedback would be the Bar needs a refurbishment, as it's looking a little old with stained furniture etc and the other thing would be do not allow smoking in the Restaurant. There is no dedicated smoking area and people smoking at the dinner table next to me is not something I would expect from a 5 star resort. Hopefully in time, they will move to more updated international standards where smoking is no longer permitted in restaurants. Apart from that, a beautiful stay!
A beautiful gateway in a paradise alike setting. Serenity and romantic atmosphere. The staff so friendly wanting to make your stay the best possible. We loved our villa so much and the food was also delicious. Th beach and sea water just beautiful. We also enjoyed the cooking class and had the best relaxing break that we needed
The resort is just as beautiful as it appears in the photos on their website. The villas are luscious and extremely tastefully done. I have no hesitation in recommending this resort, to anyone from honeymooners to families with (well behaved) children. Staff are also top rate. Sweet, professional, warm, attentive. A special thanks to our butler, Truc. We did not think we'd be using this service when we arrived, but he had a way of always being there at the right time to help on almost everything, from customizing the servicing of our room, to organizing activities for us and our family, to ensuring we got the most of all the resort's facilities and activities (yoga studio, outdoor gym, Chinese New Year Celebrations, etc). There is a special atmosphere of relaxation and all guests, no matter which nationality or whether it was adults or children, seemed to be peaceful, respectful and friendly. The only item I found slightly lacking was the restaurant. The food is good, but certainly not the best, or second best or even third best we had in Vietnam. It's also quite pricey by Vietnamese standards. Main courses are around VND400,000 (€15) each. Lobster is an unbelievable VND4,500,000 (€163!). Starters and desserts cost half that. A Tiger beer is €7. By European standards these are cheap, but they're 2x what we paid at other 5* resorts in Vietnam.
