About the Hotel

For decades newlyweds and romantics have flocked to Niagara Falls for memorable getaways. These days they are sequestering themselves behind the doors of the Sterling Inn & Spa, the only boutique hotel to grace this epic region. Built in 1928 and once the home to Bordens Dairy, it was eventually converted into a nightclub and restaurant during the 1980s, and is now part of the Preferred Boutique portfolio and part of the Preferred Hotel Group. Its transition into a hotel started in 2005 with original architectural elements, such as the exposed ceiling beams and three-story milk-bottle entrance, incorporated into the new design. The result is a hybrid hotel combining the best of a luxury resort with the intimacy of a fine inn. Rooms tend to be spacious and thoughtfully appointed with oversize beds, roaring fireplaces, wet bars, and ample-size bathrooms equipped with raining shower heads and body jets. Suites offer not one, but two rooms with sitting areas and plush bedrooms.

Reviews for Sterling Inn & Spa

All great except for parking fee.

This hotel is the only one we will go back to. It is so nice, relaxing and service is exceptional. The restaurant AG is terrific using local products. The room and bathroom we had the two times we were there were very spacious and comfortable. It is just 10 minutes walk to the falls and Clifton hill. I just wish the parking was cheaper than $18 as the parking lots just across the street was only $5. We'll be back soon anyway I think.

Luxurious Relaxation

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Our second stay at the Sterling. This time we had booked a romance package. We once again enjoyed outstanding and friendly check-in service, a very clean and well-appointed large room (we were upgraded to a deluxe room), a peaceful night's rest, and took advantage relaxing in the very large steam shower. Breakfast service was fantastic and the Bistro dinner (main and wine included) was absolutely amazing - large portions and all of it tasted incredible. Compliments to the chef!! Only two relatively minor notes that I'm sure will be addressed. The included dinner wine was red; we would have chosen white had it been offered. The mattress in our room was extremely hard. My spouse woke up a bit stiff and sore. All in all, the Sterling deserves the #1 rating in Niagara Falls.

So much fun!

The rooms are really nice. Our room had 4 windows with great blinds to block out light. Bed is comfy with nice linens. The bathroom with the steam shower was top notch and really clean. Eleven of us dinned on site and we all LOVED the meal. Our server was UNBELIEVABLE. Fallon managed to get all of our meals out at the same time, constantly poured wine, took group photos and put up with our shenanigans. This is a wonderful hotel to spend time. All eleven us managed to have several visits in one of the rooms. Thank you for your outstanding hospitality.

The Sterling Inn has spoiled me for other hotels. They are now the standard that all other hotel stays are judged by. We've stayed in quite a few of the rooms and they are all nicely decorated and very clean. The beds and pillows are very comfy. The robes and slippers are such a nice touch. We get an awesome breakfast in bed at our leisure. This Hotel is our home away from home. We love it and highly recommend it.

Shocking! Hotel Cancels Cheap Eclipse Booking to Jack Up Prices: A Reservation Horror Story You Won't Believe!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

In early November 2023, I booked this hotel for 1 night on Apr.7,2024 for the solar eclipse. The reservation was made 5 months before our travel dates and the rate I booked was $225+tax. Three months after I booked it, on Feb.7 2024, hotel manager Debra cancelled my reservation saying that $225 was too cheap and they couldn’t honor it, and they wanted to offer me a new rate of $598+tax. She said my booking was made due to a system glitch, but no issues was raised in the past 3 months. Now it’s less than 2 months before our trip, we couldn’t find any alternative accommodations that’s affordable or reasonably priced. They still have rooms available for booking, priced at $1048+tax. It’s unacceptable for a hotel to forfeit our reservation simply to raise price. Their conduct was egregiously unfair, unethical, and unprofessional. Id never book a local boutique hotel again cuz your reservation may be cancelled at any time with whatever made up reason. They ruined our trip. Avoid this hotel unless you want to ruin yours
