Queen's Landing

Great location: five-minute walk to Shaw Festival Theater and 10-minute walk to the main street. Has a good restaurant and a nice hot tub. However, the selection at the breakfast buffet is pitifully paltry, especially in light of the steep room rate. Moreover, there’s not enough lighting in the room, and there’s no fan in the bathroom. The hot and cold knobs on the bathroom faucet and in the tub shower are reversed from their normal position, which can result in potential scalding. Ironically, it was lucky in hindsight that the hot water took its time to arrive. In general, the hotel looks tired, and the art works don’t align with the image of a vintage hotel. It also has strange hours for room service: it is only available when the restaurant is open, completely defeating the purpose of room service.

Pros: Lovely to be at a hotel just "off the beaten path” but still absolutely easily walkable to the Main Street (the walk is beautiful and takes less than 10 minutes at a strolling pace). Lovely river view from the lounge terrace (although they would make it that much better if they cut down their hedge by 6-12” to make the view of the river more prominent) Really comfortable beds. Lovely, lovely staff!! BIG hats off to the Chef for the hand cut “perfect” fries (YUM), homemade ice cream (peanut butter and orange creamsicle are AMAZING) and fabulous fish tacos, beetroot salad and calamari. So, so good! Roses on the pillow each evening are a lovely touch, especially in a town where the gardens are such a key feature. Some great art in the hotel. Cons: The hotel is slightly dated now. Bathrooms and carpets need to be updated. Rubbish air conditioning in our connecting rooms, in that it is either too strong and you’re too cold or you have to shut it off completely but then you wake up hot in the night. We tried to open the windows but we failed to manage them. It should be easy! Breakfast options (room service or in the restaurant) are dominated by 3 egg dishes…but most people don't ever eat 3 eggs (and if they do, they probably shouldn’t;!?!). It felt very wasteful and out of keeping with what people need/want. And no kids options making it feel really wasteful. Very much not “eco" The fridge in our room (which is a hugely appreciated feature!) was set to such a cold temperature that it froze our fresh fruit bought at the local farms and the response at the front desk on check out was simply “oh, so sorry”…but we had to throw out over $25 worth of fruit. Room service wasn’t great - ordered buttered toast, but received dry toast that was uncovered, so cold - and ordered a pot of coffee with milk and received no milk. No water included with room service as standard. Used towels taken when room was cleaned but not replenished.

The visit to Queens Landing was exceptional the staff were fantastic definitely will stay there again

Looks impressive from the outside & great location. Nice enough room. Told reception it was a special birthday but situated overlooking some sort of ugly extension. Noise was horrendous at night from guests in opposite rooms banging doors and too loud to sit outside in the afternoon on patio due to noise from workmen. Restaurant looked nice but extortionate prices so had to find alternative eateries. Pool area very nice. However, glad only stayed two nights as it really spoilt our vacation.

A lovely escape to a timeless town … Queens Landing is a beautiful Georgian style mansion …. The staff are so warm and friendly; they took care of all our little wants - extra towels etc. Super spotless and quiet with gorgeous views of the Niagara River on the patio. We were able to hop in a shuttle provided to avoid driving around parking etc I recommend this hotel for visitors wanting a lovely restful escape. Not to worry; kids are very happy here too. The indoor pool is perfect for families…
