About the Hotel

There exists a place in the Bahamas, away from the resort-lined beaches and popular spots, where an unadulterated and supremely private environment surrounds you completely - and that place is Kamalame Cay. Its very own private island of nearly 100 acres, this award-winning resort is full of bright tropical flowers, towering palms, and views of the cerulean blue ocean. An exclusive marina, luxury spa, and three miles of soft, white sand beaches are just the beginning of this ideal scene for your Caribbean getaway. Barefoot chic is the style of Kamalame Cay's 19 rooms and suites, each donning Bahamian- inspired décor and furnishings, full of art, books, and unique amenities. Depending on your accommodations, enjoy a kitchenette, wet bar, soaking tub, or covered veranda - plus of course, cool sea breezes and views of the island all around. Additionally, The Great House is a central gathering place where you can kick back, unwind on the garden terrace, share cocktails, and follow the path to the resort's heated freshwater pool.

Reviews for Kamalame Cay

Definitely not 5 stars

A huge disappointment. Poor communication leading up to our vacation - that should’ve been our first sign of what was to come. Our staff coordinator failed to communicate that our flight was arriving too late in the day to go to the island so we had to last minute find a place to stay in Nassau and pay for a night on the island when we couldn’t even go there. Arrived on the island to find everything in varying degrees of disrepair. Nothing met the standards of what one would expect at this price point. For example, soap provided in bungalow was a bar of caress soap without a soap dish, phone didn’t always work, golf cart we were assigned was broken with no working lights, room has no place to put luggage, zero counter space in bathroom, drain never worked properly even though we asked for it to be fixed, room leaked water. Food was lacking. Often times we’d place an order for food and it would just never arrive. Be prepared to wait a long time to order food and receive food. Fruit delivered for morning breakfast was often inedible. No food menus in room. We tried to order room service and that proved impossible. When we could find staff to help us, they were all very kind. There was a random broken down golf cart on the side of the road our entire stay. We also almost got in a wreck with a golf cart with staff because road not lit and both our cart and staff cart didn’t have working lights. The one shining star of the trip was the dive team. I’m sure in its heyday the island was a magical place. It saddens me to see the current level of disrepair. Staff are aware and do their best to do what they can, but the issues are beyond them. Billing was all kinds of wrong, but based on our experience thus far we suspected there would be problems and were prepared to go line by line reviewing charges. This shouldn’t be the case since we selected for our trip to be all inclusive. Take your money and vacation time elsewhere. You are essentially paying thousands and thousands of dollars to go on a fairly primitive cabin camping trip. There is nothing luxury about this resort other than it’s on a private island.

Best resort for disconnecting from the world

Our 7th time on Kamalame and it never disappoints. A perfect escape from everyday life. We stayed in a South Beach Cottage, had the best view. Outdoor shower everyday. Long walks on the beach and relaxing pool time. The staff really make the resort even more special. Ten in the dining room is just the best, Samson and Shannon by the pool as well as Tamara. All make Kamalame a really special palce

Perfect in every way

Kamalame Cay is one of the most vibesy, beautiful and perfectly curated experiences of my life. Staff was incredible: smart, well spoken, kind and on top of every detail, the room was beyond beautiful and it was perfectly landscaped at every corner. The hosts David and Michael make you feel just like that: hosts to the most beautiful home. They are warm and inviting and create connections across guests. We made real friends!

Run by an amazing couple with exquisite hospitality, this is a heavenly oasis—luxury resort meets secluded paradise. Hidden on a private island, it boasts pristine beaches, turquoise waters, and gorgeous villas where time stands still.

Heaven…

Not one to typically leave reviews, but my experience at Kamalame Cay was so amazing, a review is warranted. I can’t say enough good things about the resort - the island is a true oasis that is completely detached from the busy grind of daily life. The water is stunning, the food is delectable, and the staff is wonderful (special shout out to Dennis, who makes you feel like you’re a part of the family - Roquel for her attentive service on the beach - Ten for her fabulous dinner service!). If you are looking for hustle, bustle, and crowds of people - this is not the trip for you. If you are looking for a quiet sanctuary to unplug, rest, and relax while surrounded by emerald waters, Kamalame Cay is where you need to be! To be clear, this is the definition of island living - which means no tv or other devices provided in your room or elsewhere on the resort (with the exception of a wonderful Bluetooth speaker to connect your phone to for music), which was perfect for what my husband and I were seeking. I would be remiss to not mention our wonderful spa services at the overwater spa (a must if you enjoy spa treatments) and the amazing snorkeling trip with Joey and Nick. Joey’s knowledge of the sea creatures we encountered during our trip was second to none and only added to the overall experience in the water! It goes without saying that we will be regulars at this resort in the years to come - thank you to everyone at Kamalame Cay for the wonderful memories!!

"Just wanted to sound the trumpet: the best getaway place is Kamalame Cay, the Bahamas.

We recently bought at auction a six-night vacation package through Luxury Link to what has to be the best kept secret in the world.

The accommodations were five-star, the service six-star, the food was out of this world, and the staff makes you feel like one of the family. If you are looking for a romantic get away, look no further: Kamalame Cay has it all. When you leave the only thought you have is: When can I return?"
