One&Only Reethi Rah in North Male Atoll, Maldives

Whether you're swimming in the company of sea creatures or just watching them from your villa suspended over the sea, water is a way of life at One&Only Reethi Rah. Few islands in the Maldives are more idyllic or spacious than the one that houses this decadent compound, where a dozen beaches – that's right, 12 of them – beckon from villas with cathedral ceilings and shaded verandahs, some with a private plunge pool. A chic boutique sells Stella McCartney swimwear you’ll love to flaunt, and sommelier Jean Sebastien Azaļs oversees one of the largest wine cellars in the world – some 30,000 bottles, ranging from rare Bordeaux to boutique South African labels.

From your Water Villa, slide into a stone lounger submerged in Indian Ocean currents the temperature of bathwater. Order a glass of fresh passion fruit juice. In the afternoon, board a catamaran destined for a deserted sandbank, where an uninterrupted slice of white sears into a cerulean sky. Dine on lemongrass-infused yellowfin in a candlelit corner of the chef’s vegetable garden.

From the moment we arrived on the private yacht they sent to pick us up from the airport, the staff did not miss a detail. We were greeted so kindly by our concierge, and he took excellent care of us all week. The resort is top notch, and the food was amazing. My recommendation, try and get a villa on the sunrise side if you like the ocean, its all white sand, crystal clear water and more enjoyable in my opinion. We split up our stay to multiple classes of rooms, and every room we had was amazing. Highly highly recommend.

Everything about the resort is out of this world.. service, hospitality, food, entertainment, and everything else! except the price is a bit overrated. Everyone says Maldives isnt for families and thats totally wrong. The resort is family friendly and suitable for kids

The name of the hotel really refers the concept of the vacation. All the Staff are so nice and helpful. Special thanks to Mahmout whom arranges all the details.. food, privacy, staff, villa, excursions are all the best.. I am looking forward to be back. Just a reminder if you are traveling with the kids ask for the non wave part. Thanks for a great holiday..

Having just returned from a two week honeymoon at Reethi Rah, I wanted to note my sincere thanks to the staff who made our stay so special as well as a few things I would have wanted to read before planning my trip. The island is beautiful. It is larger than most but we wanted the increased options for food / activities etc and it delivers this. We had mixed weather - on the sunny days the island is a paradise and you will never be short of things to do or see (or simply just soak up the sun). On the rainy days the breadth of activities certainly helps - be it diving/art/pottery/wine tasting - there are a multitude of things to keep one entertained. On the diving, I wanted to make special mention of Ash - who helped my wife through her Open Water PADI course and was an all round delight. So professional and charming. The diving itself from Reethi is fantastic; varied and exciting. I would thoroughly recommend for both newcomers and experienced divers. Another kind mention to our concierge - Roberto - whom was ever-present when we needed to arrange activities (or cancel them when the weather turned!). He is a credit to the team and made our stay all the better. Regarding the rooms - we stayed in water villa 128. The sunset side of the island (West) is good for the sky at dusk however temper this with it being rougher when the winds pick up. Looking back, having pushed hard for a sunset room, given the weather we had I would have preferred a villa on the East (sunrise) and simply cycled to the west to view the sunset (Fanditha being a perfect venue). When the wind does pick up - you certainly feel and hear it on the West side! Another note on the rooms is that the side water villas of the banks of 4 are overlooked by the beaches - so if privacy is key, do ask when booking for one of the central two water villas. The restaurants are all fantastic, the half-board included buffets at Reethi were delicious and varied. Breakfast in particular was a knock-out! Our favourite restaurants were Tapasaki (Black Miso Cod and sushi) and Botanica (Acoustic night). A small point - do not bother with the Seaplane. It is a fun experience but lasts just 5 minutes and the boat in fact is quicker door to door (put the money towards more diving!) Clearly the price is higher than other resorts and you will need to go in with open eyes when spending time on the island - however for a Honeymoon you will never forget, I could not recommend the resort more highly. I hope you have a wonderful trip if you decide to go and have better luck with the weather than we did !!

Visited the O&O resort for my Wife's 50th for 1 week from Sat Nov 18th. Picked up at the Airport and transported by a wonderful yacht and crew adjacent to the airport terminal for a 50min luxury journey to the island. Upon arrival we where not delayed at the usual resort check-in etc and transported immediately by our "personal assistant" Eric (very attentive all week to our needs) to our water villa whilst stopping to show us the island main attractions. Our Water villa was as requested on the sunset side of the island which just got our trip off to a great start, as hoped. The water villas are just amazing... waking up to the waves breaking on the reef approx. 150m away or watching the sunset was luxurious. They are newly decorated and very spacious with strong Wi-Fi and Bluetooth speakers. The finer details of the sleekly designed chilled wine cabinet and clothes storage etc. are top end. The snorkelling in the vicinity of the water villa presented small shoals of colourful fish which was a pleasant surprise as other reviews said this was poor. The villas are also not on top of each other offering a lot of privacy which I really liked about their design and layout. Personal bikes are available to each villa which we used quite alot and when not in the mood a very efficient buggy for transportation whenever requested The island facilities from the beach club to the main restaurants to the other specialised restaurants e.g. Japanese all surpassed our expectations in quality offering, service and design lay-out. Having been to excellent hotels in the Caribbean previously I was expecting a slowish service etc but this isn't the case here. All the service at any place we went to was quick, high end with a done with a smile. I couldn't fault it in any way. This is truly a wonderful top end resort ; a real paradise and I wouldn't hesitate about seeking to return.
