Reviews for The Ritz-Carlton, Okinawa

A tranquil and luxury experience

I stayed here only for a night but it really gives me a great impression. Location-wise, it's quite far from the main city Naha, Nago also doesn't offer much city life as it's mainly residential. So you need to know that this resort is mainly for those people who wants a quite getaway, away from the crowds, away from everything. A bonus if you a fan of golf, the greenfields here looks amazing. My detailed reviews: 1) Location: As i have mentioned, this resort is secluded but still accessible. Public transit is slow and takes a lot of time from Naha. Private transfer can be faster although it's going to be expensive, but if you travel with groups and families, I think it's better to go with the private transfer. Don't expect any shops or stores here, you definitely going to be limited with options from the resort (don't worry, there are decent options you can have here) 2) Lobby/Reception: The lobby area can be a bit confusing, but rest assured you won't get lost because the concierge team will be happy to guide you to the reception area. The lobby lounge has a nice view of the green fields, the reception area is also nice with comfy seating. 3) Room: The room is really spacious. The ocean view from the balcony is really nice, sadly it mostly cloudy and rainy during our stay, so we don't spent much time in the balcony area because it can get wet and slippery. I appreciate plenty of storage space to store luggage, clothing, etc. both in the bedroom and bathroom area. The bathroom is nice, huge, good lighting, and the bathroom amenities is top notch! Room amenities also decent, complete with a Nespresso coffee machine. The bed also comfortable. In the evening, everything just so quiet and peaceful, and I have no complain or whatsoever. 4) Gusuku: We had dinner here at the restaurant. I wish the dinner menu has more options, it's a bit limited between Japanese and Italian, however the taste is decent. The drink options are quite extensive though which is nice. The dining experience was really peaceful, there was a musical performance as well which elevated our experience. Breakfast also served in this restaurant, while the selection is fairly limited, it still has everything that I want and the ingredients quality is really good. Service that offered from the associates at the restaurant also very good with warm and friendly smile. 5) Other aspects: The public bath is nice, especially the amenities that they offered is top notch. It was my first time doing public bath like this but the associates are really helpful guiding me on what to do as well explaining the etiquette. I had a bit of issue with my locker, but the associates are very responsive and manage to resolve my issue. The size is not that big, but luckily there was not many people at that time so I can enjoy comfortably. The sauna room also very quiet at that time. The overall service, including the turndown service, they are really great. All the associates here are nice, friendly, they won't be hesitate to help with whatever you need to ensure the comfort of your stay.

Warm helpful staff and aesthetically pleasing surroundings

We enjoyed a relaxing and pleasant three days at the Ritz Carlton. We were cared for by hotel staff in every possible way during our visit. The general manager, Koji, was extraordinarily attentive, as was Laurent, director of operations, Christy, and Naoki, supervisor food and beverages. Every time we needed something one of these individuals jumped to our assistance. We felt completely spoiled and quite overwhelmed by the warmth and kindness of the staff. It is true that food and drinks are expensive at the resort, but we found that this cost was somewhat balanced by a reasonable room rate. We enjoyed a champagne reception where we met staff and other hotel guests. Valet parking and spa use were included (and the spa was exceptional) but electric bikes were an additional charge. In spite of temperatures in the high twenties, the outdoor pool was disappointingly closed in November , though the indoor pool and outdoor hot tub remained open. The hotel is set back peacefully from the busyness of the road, perched in the hills with golf course views and the ocean not far off. The hotel style is modern Japanese with gorgeous high wooden ceilings, lovely decor and artwork. The hotel design frequently offers vistas in four directions from common areas like the bars, restaurants, many patios, and the lobby, all with a cool breeze blowing through the open sliding doors. Suites are roomy and lovely. Beds are comfortable. Make sure to get an upper level room for better views.

Solid 5 Star Property

I stayed in a two double bed room for one night as the last day of a short stay in Okinawa. I was coming from a two-night stay ay the Hoshinoya Resort. The contrast of the two hotels was interesting. Hoshinoya is a very Japanese style place, which has its pluses and minuses. The RC is very much an American style hotel. Which is not bad at all. I appreciated the breakfast buffet and having a large plate of perfectly cooked scramble eggs and all the items that comprise American comfort breakfast food - the fluffy pancakes, bacon, etc. The rooms were also very well furnished with no end of amenities. The property itself is very clean and well laid out. If you are a smoker, be aware you cannot smoke on the balcony and there is only one smoking area in the entire property. I also had the teppanyaki course dinner at Kise. The highest price Kise course ran around 30,000 yen. It was a bit pricey but the courses were excellent. I appreciated that the chef was low-key - no juggling of knives and spatulas. If you looking for a dependable place and also play golf, this would be worth a look. The English proficiency is still a bit of an issue, not all staff speak proficient English. That's not the fault of the hotel. I think that's a problem with Okinawa and Japan generally.

Our paradise in Okinawa

We love Okinawa Ritz-Carlton! Absolutely breathtaking grounds, exceptional service, and unique dining experiences! Executive chef Marcello prepared delicious pasta and whole fish Sardinian style in an Italian restaurant! Chef Shinya prepared fugu fish 5-course dinner in a Japanese restaurant. It was a little scary and unforgettable experience! Very friendly and great service from Arnaud, Fontana, and Christy. The Front office manager's service was impressive! He greeted us upon arrival, making sure everything went well helping with transportation or any other questions (just name it). If you decide to come to Okinawa, we highly recommend staying in Ritz-Carlton!
