Resort at Squaw Creek

We were staying here for a business trip so it was a combo of business and pleasure. Overall, there was nothing memorable about this resort except the views. We opted to leave and head to town more than we opted to stay. The restaurants and the service were mediocre at best. Drinks weren’t great. There is no closed or covered path from the main lobby to the room towers. Thankfully it didn’t rain. Also your options are to pay for the expensive valet service or pay a little less to self park in a lot that is a short walk down a hill to get to. We reserved a king room but they “upgraded“ us to a better view without mentioning we would lose our king and end up with two queens. The palisades resort across the golf course offers way more to do, eat, and shop at. Thankfully there are two towns within 10 min either way.

Pretty low-class experience with customer service and facilities. Management took no responsibility for their mix-ups and in fact blamed us for them. Additionally, the Manager, Nelson, asked us to go out of our way to rectify his team's mishaps as opposed to offering to help move our luggage when he and his team put us in the wrong room.

This property is run more like a motel than a hotel. It seems like they rely a lot on European students who come over and work for the summer. There are much better options for anyone looking for a weekend away from the Bay Area.

Really nice facility, comfortable rooms, and beautiful scenery. Valet parking and restaurants very expensive. Nothing walkable but Tahoe city not too far away.

Our recent stay at this property was highly disappointing, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend it. While there were numerous issues, I will focus on the key areas that require immediate management attention: Front Desk & Check-In: The check-in process lacked efficiency and a sense of urgency. The front desk staff demonstrated a distinct lack of customer service, resulting in a poor first impression. Parking Logistics: At $35 per day, the self-parking layout is challenging and a substantial distance from the main property. No shuttle or assistance was offered. Furthermore, because the hotel hosted two large weddings during our stay, the lot completely ran out of spaces for regular guests. Overcrowded Amenities: The pool area was completely overwhelmed and unusable due to heavy crowding. Guests should be notified during the booking process when multiple massive, private events are scheduled on-site, as it heavily impacts the guest experience. On-Site Dining: The small breakfast cafe on the property fell far below standard. The customer service was poor, and the food quality was unacceptable, the breakfast croissant sandwich was poorly made, and the coffee was of very low quality. The staff appeared visibly disengaged and unhappy, which often points to underlying management issues. There are significantly better lodging options available in Tahoe City or Truckee. I would advise travelers to look elsewhere.
