My recent stay at the Resort at Squaw Valley exceeded all expectations. I came up alone to get out of the City and enjoy some ‘me-time’ for Mother’s Day Weekend, and by the time I left, I felt like part of the Resort Family. Everyone was so kind, welcoming and accommodating from my first Arrival Experience with Conor, Alex & Zach, to John Paul at the Spa - who waited over an hour for me on Sunday afternoon after I accidentally missed my appointment time! The Six Peaks Dining team, of Cliff, Chris and Tom where I ate both nights, Kate at the Concierge Desk who arranged beautiful flowers in my room and Sebastian and Chris on Valet, who kept my car right in front the whole weekend. It was a quiet weekend and the resort was almost empty, especially on Sunday night/Monday morning, and felt like everyone went out to their way to make sure I felt special for Mother’s Day and my every need was taken care of. There were a couple of glitches with my room but even Bill & Henry from maintenance stepped up when the refrigerator was acting up. It was so fun chatting with a fellow-Australian.

Enjoyed a couple evenings at this resort and it was incredible! Zach checked us in and did an amazing job! Cliff was our favorite server @ Six Peaks restaurant. Job well done you two! Excellent service, thank you. Will absolutely be back :) Rooms were beautiful, clean and comfortable. Surrounding property just lovely.

My trip was for business and the forecast in mid May was 5 days of thunderstorms. Bummed. But it got better - had 2 days of partial sun shine and 2 days of gentle rain and some sun. So don't entirely believe the weather reports. The resort is comfortable and not stuffy. Loved sitting in the lobby by the fireplace looking at the mountains in between educaiotn programs. Food's good ! try the fresh herb cocktails in 6 Peaks for a real treat.

Fabulous and spacious room in a beautiful resort. Staff was attentive and friendly. Grounds were impeccable. Definitely worth checking out. Plenty of restaurants and shops to choose from. A lot of options, you're sure to find something that interests you.

A word to the wise, although this resort is located in “Squaw Valley,” if you check the weather for Squaw Valley, CA, you will be searching the wrong city. And boy, was the weather in Squaw Valley different from the weather at the Resort at Squaw Creek!! About 25-30 degrees colder with rain. I spoke to numerous people at my conference who made the same mistake. Many employees at the resort reported that guests make this mistake all the time. Needless to say, I did not pack for the weather, and it really put a damper on my trip. Unfortunately, the resort does not accept UPS on Saturday, so I couldn’t have my cold weather clothes shipped to me. However, my complaints about the hotel have nothing to do with this weather snafu. First, the positives. The resort is beautiful. The mountains are gorgeous, and the lobby and restaurants have great floor to ceiling windows. The fireplace in the lobby is lovely. The filet at Six Peaks was delicious! As for the room, the sheets were soft, and the towels were fluffy. I liked the large bottles of shampoo, conditioner and bath gel with pumps in the shower to cut down on waste. However, there was some rust that came out of the shampoo pump. The Nest products were nice and smelled good. More on the room later. The Tahoe Style clothing store saved the day! They have really nice clothes, although pricey. Fortunately, they had a $50 sale rack and a $25 sale rack. I saved a few hundred dollars on a cashmere sweater, a warm jacket and black pants. I also splurged at the Double Diamond jewelry store. Janet is the best! Really gorgeous and unique pieces. Now, for the bad. As many other reviewers mentioned, the rooms are extremely poorly soundproofed. I could hear every word of every conversation of my neighbors! It was as if they were in my room. Housekeeping was also hollering outside. It was impossible to relax or concentrate on work with that much noise. When my neighbors woke me up at 5:40am, I asked to change rooms. The hotel accommodated me, and gave me a room with a better view. In addition to the poor soundproofing, my original room had other issues: no cover on the ironing board, poor view (side of a mountain and trash bins), two non-working phones, a 30-minutes slow clock (and no instructions to set it), and a loud squealing sound when the water next-door was turned on and off. Also, this is literally the only hotel I’ve ever stayed at that did not have a bag for laundry pickup. My second room was quieter, but also had problems. One of the pillowcases had gross mold stains on it (see photo), the lotion was obviously used, and the sink stopper would not stay plugged. Also, as many reviewers have mentioned, it is unfortunate that you must go outside to get from the lobby/conference rooms/restaurants to the rooms. This place gets COLD, and it would have been nice if the corridor to the rooms was enclosed. Even just with glass. I would only stay here again if it was with another conference.
