Grand Bohemian Hotel Orlando

Long-time Bonvoy/Marriott rewards member and this was my first stay at an AC property. Gorgeous hotel, beautiful room, very restful night!

I am Marriot gold member so why I picked this hotel, because I was flying back from Brazil with a two night layover in Orlando and all I wanted was to lay by a pool and order food and drinks. This hotel is very deceptive on line. They have a pool but it’s not on the roof, maybe the roof of the garage, so it is completely shaded by the building. It has a big bar area but they didn’t staff it until 4pm. They had more people 4-5 working the valet than the bar. I took an uber to another 5 star hotel with a pool and used their facilities and spent my money there for lunch and drinks. The room was big but sparsely decorated, no couch just a big open space with a tiny window! Don’t stay here unless you have a business meeting downtown. I know I won’t be back, the staff of what were there are also not very pleasant and clearly acted like they don’t want to be there. Just because you put up some stylish art and paint it, doesn’t mean they can execute well.

The hotel itself was very well designed and stunning visually. The valet staff was engaging and inspired confidence. Great amenities…if you only looked at the surface. Upon our arrival and before our off site event we decided to have a celebratory cocktail and the nicely apportioned rooftop bar and pool. This is where the hospitality began to demonstrate its lack of professionalism. We ordered top shelf cocktails with specific requests as to the constituents. The bartender ( a generous title bestowed) turned his back in order to shield his lack of skill in preparation. Classic mantle behavior! The cocktail, a two part pedestrian request, gin and tonic was made with flat, previously opened tonic and the pour of Hendricks was less than 1/2 ounce and no jigger was utilized. My wife requested a Long Island ice tea with top shelf ingredients. No attempt was made in selection and sub-par house brands were added while attempting to shield the making of this over priced swill. Post event we found the room delightful. Clean and comfortable. The bath robes added comfort to a long evening and we slept snuggly. Meeting friends and their children for breakfast the following day reinforced the previous days lack of hospitable follow through. We had a table of seven with three being young children. The staff was very obviously preoccupied with the preparation of brunch, not the patrons present. Our server made multiple errors with three of the adults orders or the kitchen staff too was more concerned with brunch service at the expense of earlier patrons seated. The food was mis prepared, overcooked, staggered in its delivery to the point of being cold and unappetizing. When asked if we were Marriott members at check-in we chuckled and made eye contact, my wife and I…not really sure affiliation would add to our lives.

Manny and Liam were great assisting me and my wife at out stay at the Grand Bohemian. They truly made our experience top notch. Thank you both.

Love this place! Super friendly and responsive staff, great bar and restaurant, and excellent rooms! Highly recommend
