Not the place for an extended stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

Not normally one to complain but this review is not overly positive. Staying here currently on honeymoon. This is our 6th trip to Orlando and honestly our most disappointing one. We were so looking forward to being here but it's not for us. Desperately wish we could go somewhere else but we've spent a fortune to be here for 14 nights so not paying out more to move. The hotel itself is fine, clean and well maintained our room is spacious with a pleasant view of the "nature preserve" and Disney Springs in the distance. The room is lacking little touches like the retractable line in the bath to hang swimwear and no glassware for toothbrushes/rinsing. If you choose this hotel, you need to be aware of the additional costs during your stay. We booked through British Airways who didn't advise us of the $35 plus tax per day parking fee. There is also a resort fee plus tax. Food and drink here is extortionate. Probably ok if you're only here for a few days but on a 2 week trip it's not. The pool bar prices inc $9 for fries and $22 for a burger and fries. I got a small filter coffee and a soda from the shop in the lobby and it was $12. This hotel is clearly aimed at the American market rather than international guests. We have yet to encounter any other non-US guests, which isn't a problem at all just emphasising my point about length of stay - this is not the place to pick for a extended trip. The other issue here is the fact that the hotel has a large convention centre. There are currently some cheerleading competitions on at Disney and the hotel is full of competitors. The lobby area and facilities are full with them all and their families so no space for other visitors. We just don't feel like this is an overly friendly or welcoming place, I'm not comfortable and feel out of place sitting around the pool. Overall, a nice looking hotel but not appropriate for long stay trips.

Fantastic spa

This is a great hotel, I don’t like crowded places but even thought the building is big it is very kids friendly and easy to get around . Polk is fantastic and had the DJ all day, food is good and everyone can find something they like, even with gluten and dairy sensitivities. I used the spa and Jermaine was fantastic doing my massage and he literally fixed my shoulder pain.I also booked my facial with Maria V and she was fantastic. I recommend it !

Lovely staff - with very friendly approach from the room staff to the reception staff. I asked for some extra priniting as an emergency at 5am and they really helped out when the printer was not cooperating. Pool was clean, good selection of food and drinks. Easily to get to and from with uber & lyft.
