The hotel is indeed grand, but also friendly and welcoming. The staff went out of their way to be helpful in all ways. Marcos and Daniel were GREAT hosts and mixologists at Othilia, the lobby bar. Central, beautiful location.

Really enjoyed my stay at the Grand. The location was fantastic and I really enjoyed the breakfast. Under the hotel is an amazing wine bar. I highly recommend a visit to it, you are sitting in a beautiful wine cellar.

Nice location, disappointing hotel. I booked a room at this hotel asking for a room with a nice view. This I got, great view from the window to the main street. However the room was disappointing, very worn down with a mishmash of old and new furniture, that looked like it was just put together with no overall concept in mind. The room was not very clean-stains on the sofa, dust under the desk and stains in the windows, missing skirting boards... Staff were under trained-long queues for reception, inattentive personnel at breakfast and at the door. Unfortunately a place with great history but thats it in my opinion.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Grand Hotel. Both the lobby and our room were beautiful. The room was large, had a very comfortable bed, and was spotlessly clean. We loved the view of the park from the little balcony. We also enjoyed drinks in the lobby bar and had a delicious dinner in the restaurant. You can also use the pool, sauna, and steam room in the spa which was very nice. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel but there are a lot of restaurants and cafes close by to grab a quick bite. As others have said, the location is perfect because you can walk to most major attractions and the train station. Also, if you are going to do a hop on hop off bus tour, there is a stop just across the street. As always, the drinks from the minibar were quite expensive but there is a vinmonopolet around the corner if you want to enjoy a glass of wine in your room. Overall this is not the cheapest place to stay in Oslo but definitely worth it!

The location is great, a huge central park is in front, most sights are nearby or close, the central station is walking distance. The hotel is huge, so do not expect personal treatment or rooms for your personal preference. My grand deluxe double room faced an inner courtyard, not very big either, on a lower floor, it could have been brighter especially in Oslo. But, I only stayed one night, the room was clean, the bathroom huge, the hotel people nice and friendly, so I did not complain. Breakfast choice was kind of limited for this size and category of a hotel. But, it is central, there is a park and the sun was shining.
