We were there at the start of a 10 day trip to Norway and the location could not be bettered. The large light lobby, dominated by the bar, with the art nouveau restaurant off it, is welcoming, as were the staff. The room decor is in quiet greys, and although we found the beds a bit too soft for our taste, they were comfortable. We ate in the restaurant - the food was delicious - and had breakfasts in the Grand Cafe, again a lovely experience. It doesn't have the pzazz of some luxury hotels, but then it wouldn't feel like Norway if it did. The only slight down side the hotel is that access to some of the rooms requires some stair climbing from the lifts - not fun when arriving with suitcases - but I am sure staff would have helped had we asked for it. Yes, it's pricey, but then what in Norway isn't?

Centrally located, exceptional staff, beautiful hotel, great food and service. I would definitely stay there again. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner there, as well as the wine cellar. Would definitely recommend to others.

The hotel's external architecture is smashing with one of the greatest locations of any hotels in the city at Karl Johan's street with views of the castle. The service we got was professional and warm and our room was already ready when we arrived little early than we had expected to. After check in a member of staff took our luggage to our room and showed us around in our beautiful junior suite with smashing views over the street. Beds incredibly comfy and also a extra plus for the sofa and arm chairs that added to the luxury. A nice drawing table over viewing the street was also a huge plus. Bathroom was nice and roomy with exclusive toiletries. We opted to have our lunch in the Palm restaurant in the hotel and was greeted with warm smiles and very attentive service. All staff did a great job but there was the Swedish lady Ajin who really went that extra mile and made our lunch extra rewarding. She was funny, witty but still professional and one could tell that she was in total control of everything in the restaurant. Food was delicious and came in without any long waiting time. They also serve Afternoon tea but we had a delicious fish soup and I had the Vitello Tonatto sandwich that was so good and prepared by the book. Don't miss a visit to the SPA on the top floor, the roof top bar or the library. Will definitely stay here again. Best, Mikael

I spent two nights at the Grand and enjoyed the whole stay. Perfectly located outside the Parliament on the pedestrianised Karl Johann street the hotel is grand in name and structure. A warm welcome on arrival and helpful Norwegian service are what you can expect. Rooms are well appointed (once you find your in the maze-like layout). A gym on the top floor has all you'd ever need plus a day spa. A grand experience.
