The staff is friendly and accommodating.. The rooms were clean, updated and comfortable. Location right in the center of town near the train station is perfect. Highly recommended. I would choose this hotel for a 2nd visit.

So we stayed here for two days on the inbound from U.S. and two days on the outbound before departure back to the U.S. So I have divided my review into location below and the hotel itself. First the hotel. Truly grand old building with a neat cafe out front and very high end expensive but very good restaurant on the main floor. The staff was very helpful and very nice. Great Service all round. The buffet breakfast included in the morning was expansive and excellent. Wifi worked well although the streaming to the the in-room T.V.s was not consistent. Beds were very comfortable. Rooms have been renovated sometime recently and bathrooms were very nice. The fitness center and pool are well done with cardio and weight stuff. The pool also has both steam room and sauna. Quite nice overall. Ok, a couple of cautions. There is no air conditioning, rather the property has a ventilation system that seemed to work well for us, but if it was a lot hotter it might not for some people. A bigger issue for us and many other guests at the hotel is that there is an open roof top bar, that with a live band or D.J. that was simply unbearably loud (not to mention bad music) and went until 11:30 at night. With 3 rooms and 4 kids nobody could sleep. It literally shook the windows and rooms and reverberated off the streets and made for a very unpleasant stay on our last night. The staff kindly moved us to a different room that was unfortunately no better. I would strongly suggest in inquiring about this prior to booking. I am very surprised an upscale hotel like this would allow this level of noise as it completely offsets the rest of the hotels aura. This would be a deal killer for us coming back to Oslo as we will be in six months. Also on the inbound someone had been smoking in one the rooms, but the hotel did bring a machine that help clear it out. Absolutely great walk to location straight up Karl Johans gate (Main Shopping road) from the train station past all the high end shopping anyone would ever want to see. An easy 7 minute walk. Very close to most museums, the harbour, military museum (which is free and cool) , the castle and Resisitence museum (highly reccomended if you're a history buff like me). Short hops to the art museum on a very nice and simple tram system.

This is a wonderful hotel with great decor and a lovely intimate feel. I love the modern meets classic vibe of the lobby and dining room. The halls have interesting touches and seating tucked away throughout. The rooms are standard European size (i.e. Small for Americans) but well appointed. I was a little disappointed that there was only a shower and no tub in our room. But the color palette in our room is so relaxing, silvers, Ivey blues and white marble in the bathroom. The location is fantastic- within walking distance to so much and great cafes and parks and landmarks just across the street! Fantastic place to stay, very friendly staff, I definitely recommend!

Rooms are reasonably well maintained, but not quite what you expect in this price range. Rooms are very large, and bathrooms are decent. Staff is excellent, really helpful and sort anything out very quickly.

Location of this hotel is excellent. Hotel has a great history, and some parts are very well renovated. Check-in was efficient, but at a 5 star Grand hotel, I expect a doorman 24/7. Sometimes, there was a one, but I never felt appreciated as a guest. I'm not sure if my room was renovated, but it was a bit empty and boring for a Grand Hotel. The bed was good, the bathroom was small but of high quality. Best part was breakfast. I'm not fond of a buffet breakfast, but this hotel absolutely got it right: great offering, nicely presented and all of excellent quality. And the breakfast room was so nicely decorated. The spa isn't special, and a bit silly that you need to pay to make use of the changing rooms (so you have guests walking around in their bathrobes throughout the hotel). It's a luxury hotel, but they can do better.
