This hotel is simply stunning. From arrival to departure, the staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The bar on the roof is worth a visit for an evening drink. The room was beautiful and the location is in the heart of everything with so many places nearby. Will. E back- in fact, didn't want to leave.

We were in Oslo for a conference & added a few extra days for free time. We booked a Grand Petite room and ended up in room 662 for 7 nights. The room was much larger than we expected (possibly a disabled room as there were arm supports possible for the toilet & the walk in shower had 2 sides which opened....so very accessible). We both had suitcases which open from the centre, which is difficult in some hotels. But here we had plenty of room to leave both cases open. With a week stay, it would have been nice to have some drawers to put things away, but this was not a big issue. The room had windows to a central courtyard...so no 'view' but was also very quiet. The street facing rooms were in high demand for May 17th, but we went out into the festivity & at no stage needed that kind of view. The bed was the most comfortable we have had in a hotel - excellent!. Wifi kept dropping out, but then we got the advice to use telenor & that was much better. I am a tea drinker & it would have been nice to have that available. After using my own tea, I did have one replacement on one day only. The bathroom was huge & products offered were delightful. Decor in the room was beautiful and truly luxurious. There was a mini bar but we did not touch it as we were out & about in Oslo. Breakfast was included in our rate & was amazing - everything you could think of....& if it was not there...just ask & they get it for you! The hotel location is superb, on the main city centre road, which often became a pedestrian mall. Opposite the Parliament, near the National Theatre & between Oslo Central & National Theatre Stations. We caught the Flytoget train from the airport to National Theatre station - then having no idea where to go, got a taxi for about 160KR to the hotel door - easy & cheaper than taxi/car the whole way from the airport. During our stay we had pleasant walks to the Opera, Waterfront and Vigeland Park from the Grand Hotel Central location.

this place gave me a "feeling of importance" by virtue of the company I am in-- Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa, Menachem Begin, Anwar Sadat (to name a few) once walked and slept here... but it's the excellent service of the hotel staff, especially Ms. Mikela (Front Desk) and Mr. Anton (doorman) who made my stay a treasure.. my only issue is the bathroom, it was not a walk-in shower but a high bathtub.. hopefully something can be done because in the future I would most likely stay here again.
