Elbow Beach, Bermuda in Paget, Bermuda

Only five minutes from the country capital of Hamilton, 50 lush acres of manicured gardens at Elbow Beach, Bermuda set the scene for this luxurious beach escape. The verdant grounds gently slope down toward a private half-mile stretch of pink sand beach – the longest of any resort in Bermuda – and the turquoise waters beyond. Built in 1908 and recently rejuvenated, the hotel features 98 airy rooms set in the main building and charming low-slung cottages. Each room heralds a contemporary Caribbean vibe with tones reflecting sand and sea. Guests can relax on chaise lounges on the lanai-style patios in the well kitted-out quarters. Among must-have amenities rooms offer high-definition televisions, wireless Internet access, audio systems with iPod docking stations and personal Espresso machines. Separate walk-in rain showers and deep soaking tubs as well as top-tier complimentary toiletries come standard in each of the chic bathrooms.

Although it is tempting to lounge on the picture-perfect beach all day, try some of the numerous on-site activities. The resort has five tennis courts – three of them lit for night play – a massive heated free-form swimming pool, and guests can arrange for Scuba excursion at the beachside PADI-certified dive shop. Ready to relax after adventuring? Schedule some adult-time and drop the young’uns off at the resident Kids Club. Then get pampered at the Asian-inspired spa sanctuary that has six ultra-private spa suites, a foot ritual chair, and outdoor daybeds. Guests may pick from four on-site restaurants. The standout is Lido Restaurant where patrons have gorgeous vistas of the Caribbean Sea while tucking into Pan-Mediterranean cuisine enhanced by tropical influences such as the popular Bouillabaisse Revisited made with shrimp, scallops and little neck clams. For post-prandial drinks, there are several choices: Sip crafty cocktails accompanied by magnificent ocean views at Sea Breeze terrace, settle in a plush leather sofa at Deep Lounge, or mosey on over to the Mickey's Beach Bar to see the sun go down 30 feet from the water’s edge. Less than a three-hour flight from many US East Coast cities, Elbow Beach, Bermuda is the ideal destination for a swift yet relaxing vacation even on a tight schedule.

It has been at least 40 years since I was last at this resort! I remembered it to be a fun, hip place. So if I were to rate it as it is today I would give it 4 stars. The exterior of the buildings are in terrible shape. The grounds could be better too. But that said, the beach is the best in Bermuda! The setting is lovely. The interior of the rooms are nice but they did not provide "turn down" service every evening. I guess they just didn't get to it although the hotel was not full at all. The restaurants had very good food and good service. The pool area was very tired and old. The main hotel is only open for weddings. There is a wonderful new spa and hair salon! I would go back for the beach and spa!

This place is really nice with a few cons in between. We got here around 1pm and check in is at 3pm. Our room was not ready but we were upgraded to an ocean view which was nice. Our Oceanview room was a sliver of ocean and mostly green/ parking lot & another building in front of us. If you are staying on property the entire time and plan of eating here, don't be shocked with the price of food. Average each meal for a family of four to be between 120 and 150 in dollars. It doesn't matter what you order it always seems to be in that range. This was a great 2 hour getaway out of NYC and the beaches were clean and beautiful, not too many people here this time of year. The hotel provides pool toys and the beach provides sand toys and kayaks. There is also hair beading down by the beach for ranges of $25 to $35. There is no real gift shop either and the small market they have on premise is not anything to talk about. It is cheaper to take the local bus around the island but they seem to drive a bit crazy so hold on and the drivers are not that personable and make sure you are at the bus stop waiting because they don't wait for you. Buses run lime every 30 minutes and be sure to purchase tokens from the resort or bus terminal before hand. 4.50 per adult per ride and 2.50 per child ages 5 and over. Taxis are expensive but I feel more direct and drive less hectic.

Man I love this place. I love nearly everything about Bermuda. We have been to many fabulous places around the world but Bermuda is my favorite for a warm and fabulous beach vacation.. The views from the Hotel cannot be beat, the lavish dining room spread for breakfast and fabulous setting on the outdoor stone veranda for dinner is magical. They use their best silver serving pieces at the breakfast buffet and the waiters are dressed in their finery. It's all yes ma'am, yes sir and a wonderful experience to make you feel special. They care and try hard to make your stay with them a pleasant one. You will pay for this at room rates that are startling. You can catch public transportation from near the entrance to the hotel, easy and safe with such nice, quiet, polite people. We dined downtown a couple of times because it was so easy. We did not rent a car. Hubs and I pretty much vegetated wedged in a single beach lounge chair with bloody Mary's and enjoyed being together in such a beautiful place. The water was clear and aquamarine, temperature was perfect. Spent time just floating and treading water out there with a pleasant buzz and being away from work and home for a week. The hotel is over 100 years old and was the "go to" hotel for dignitaries and celebrities back in the day. There are many famous people pictured in photos in the hotel. The hotel has been undergoing a huge reno with the main hotel shuttered for a long time and rumored to be demo'ed but it's still there, not sure what the future holds for it. I'm glad we got to stay there on a high floor with spectacular views of the ocean. Now they have cottages on the grounds that are well appointed and luxurious. Of course the beach will remain the same. It's small but very nice.

My wife, daughter, and I recently stayed at Elbow Beach for 4 days, having found it via a promotional email from an online travel service (not Tripadvisor). We were greeted warmly upon arrival with rum swizzles that were delicious. The property is very pretty with an outstanding staff that chose to help at every turn. Even though there is a no tipping policy at the hotel, we offered a little extra for outstanding service. The restaurants were excellent although even more expensive than the usual prices you find everywhere in Bermuda. Our room had a great view, and the beach is beautiful. The people at the Concierge Desk were extremely friendly and helpful, especially when they booked our daughter for a swim with dolphins at Dolphin Quest. But....when we booked through this 3rd party, we were led to believe that the room was reserved at the rate advertised and agreed to. We even called the hotel directly to confirm that there were 3 of us, at which time we learned that we would need a rollaway bed, which we were told would be provided at "no additional charge." Upon checking in, however, we were told that the room will cost us an extra $50 per day because of our daughter being a "3rd person." We weren't thrilled with the extra charge, but agreed to it. Upon checkout, however, they charged us yet another $100, for reasons that did not make sense. If there were going to do that, then they should have told me up front, like they did when they told me about the first $200 they up-charged me. I do not mind minor taxes and fees, but suddenly adding an extra $100 at check out made me feel like my pocket was being picked. This is the only reason I did not give it a top review. Given this experience, I am not likely to book a vacation through a 3rd party again. And as much as I liked this property, there are too many other beautiful places to stay in Bermuda where hopefully I will not be taken advantage of.

In planning a family vacation we learned that the resort we frequented in Bermuda would not allow children. But, Elbow Beach did. A perfect spot for the entire family. The rooms were well maintained by an outstanding housekeeping staff. Each day special requests were met with smiles and promptness. The concierge accommodated our needs for reservations necessary for our large group. Her recommendations were responsive to our varied needs The beach front, idyllic. As the Island itself has become more crowded, there is little need to leave the resort to enjoy in Bermudas wonderful water activities. Our family is already planning to return to elbow beach
