Newstead Belmont Hills in Paget, Bermuda
When Newstead Belmont Hills opened in 2008, it was the first new resort development in Bermuda in 35 years. Modern rooms with hardwood floors and mosaic-tiled marble bathrooms enjoy views of Hamilton Harbor, where complimentary water taxis take guests to destinations across the island. Golfers won’t want to miss tee time at the Algie M. Pulley, Jr.-designed 18-hole course overlooking the Great Sound – a complimentary round is included with each stay.
Get your blood flowing with an early morning tennis match. Lounge the day away at the edge of the harborside infinity pool. Take a quick jaunt over to a pink-sand beach and scour the shore for shells. Book a corner table for dinner, feeling the Bermudan breeze bid farewell to the sun’s last rays. Feast on fresh sashimi – unangi, ebi, ikura, maguro and salmon caviar – paired with a glass of chilled chardonnay.

Reviews for Newstead Belmont Hills
Pros: complimentary airport shuttle if booked through hotel, complimentary beach shuttle to beautiful Coco Beach, (also a con, see below), hotel is lovely (but starting to show its age), incredible infinity pool, stunning views of the harbor, complimentary ferry to/from Hamilton is very convenient , housekeeping very efficient and pleasant, our suite was clean (but showing its age) and quite large with a fully equipped kitchen and gorgeous harbor views. Problems: 1) The TV didn't work during our entire 5 day stay (we weren't planning on watching much anyway but this is never acceptable, front desk was pretty apathetic and blamed the cable company) 2) Our first morning we waited for 45 minutes for somebody to locate towels and the beach shuttle driver. Every decent resort has towels stacked and ready to go by 7 am (at this time it was 11:00, we had been waiting since 10:20). Luckily this was the only issue with the beach shuttle for the duration of our stay. 3) Fire alarm went off one morning and was not shut off for about 15 -20 minutes 4) Our room keys stopped working the second day 5) A\C unit was crazy loud 6) front desk always seemed understaffed and a few were very undertrained 7) pool bartender one afternoon was a very sweet elderly gentleman but was extremely slow and split 2 pina coladas into 3 servings. I didn't say anything bc he was nice but did feel ripped off when each drink was $10 (no alcohol) . Unfortunately, there were too many little problems that, individually, wouldn't be a deal breaker but collectively prevents me from loving this hotel and recommending it to anyone.

My husband and I just returned from a wonderful vacation in Bermuda, one of our favorite places to visit and a place we have enjoyed many times over the years. We have stayed in many different hotels on our own and also with our children and grandchildren and decided this time to try Newstead. It was a fantastic place to stay with all the amenities. The suites are complete with a full kitchen and dining and living areas, enabling us to enjoy a quiet breakfast or snack late at night. The grocery store is within walking distance as well as the bus stop and within the hotel itself there is a convenient coin operated laundry. The hotel provides very quick free ferry service to Hamilton which sits beautifully across the sound, and free shuttle service to exquisite Coco Reef beach. There are a number of restaurants on-site; including one fantastic French restaurant and a lighter fare tapas restaurant. Another excellent restaurant is located at the associated Belmont Hills golf club. Add friendly staff, impeccably maintained surroundings, and a beautiful infinity pool, and you have the nicest spot so far where we have had the pleasure of staying. We are looking forward to our return !

Our second stay at the Newstead, 6 years since our last visit. Exactly the same as before with superb service, and great facilities. We were upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite right next to the pool. This made our stay extra special. The suite was huge with everything that you needed, with all kitchen appliances including a tall fridge freezer. Air con and fans in bedroom and main living room. Views across the harbour to Hamilton and up to Somerset from the balconies were just stunning. Any questions or problems were answered or sorted immediately. Free hotel ferry to Hamilton is great along with free shuttle bus to Coco Reef hotel where the beach is great with superb snorkelling. The swimming pool is perfect for cooling down whilst watching the boats go by. Best priced hotel on the island that we could find. With the views and friendly staff it is hard to beat.

Went for a two week holiday. We had a one bedroom suite. We wanted a suite that had a kitchen so we could have breakfast in our PJs. Having the kitchen was terrific. It had everything we needed to make coffee and breakfast. The balcony was very large and had both an eating area and a lounging area. We used this outdoor space every day. The bed was as comfortable as home and the ensuite bath was fabulous. There was a second bathroom in the common area. The service at the hotel was very good, people were friendly and because the hotel is smallish, the staff got to know our names. The water taxi service was a great value, as was the shuttle to BLU. We also enjoyed the beach at Coco Reefs many days on our trip. The hotel's location was close to both Hamilton and the south shore beaches, making it easy to get around by moped, or by taxi without too much additional cost. The restaurants at the hotel were also very good. We will definitely be choosing this hotel again.

The resort has gorgeous views from almost every side. Beautiful sunsets. Most of staff is very helpful and friendly. Low key hotel. Downside pool can get crowded mid day. So best to go at night or early. The restaurant at pool is reasonable. Offers same lunch menu as restaurant in hotel. Really like that they offer water taxi to Hamilton. Also they will shuttle you to beach — coco reef. Resort also offers free shuttle to airport. Gym and tennis courts on site.
