Newstead Belmont Hills in Paget, Bermuda
When Newstead Belmont Hills opened in 2008, it was the first new resort development in Bermuda in 35 years. Modern rooms with hardwood floors and mosaic-tiled marble bathrooms enjoy views of Hamilton Harbor, where complimentary water taxis take guests to destinations across the island. Golfers won’t want to miss tee time at the Algie M. Pulley, Jr.-designed 18-hole course overlooking the Great Sound – a complimentary round is included with each stay.
Get your blood flowing with an early morning tennis match. Lounge the day away at the edge of the harborside infinity pool. Take a quick jaunt over to a pink-sand beach and scour the shore for shells. Book a corner table for dinner, feeling the Bermudan breeze bid farewell to the sun’s last rays. Feast on fresh sashimi – unangi, ebi, ikura, maguro and salmon caviar – paired with a glass of chilled chardonnay.

Reviews for Newstead Belmont Hills
Visited Bermuda and stayed at Newstead Belmont Hills Hotel. This is located so that it overlooks the main harbor, straight into the Royal Yacht Club and Hamilton itself. It is a 1st class hotel, but the service and some of the features of our room were not up to standard. This visit was during the America's Cup racing, so the price per room was very high. We knew that would be the case, and given our prior experience with the hotel, we felt it was worth it. However, their were problems that just didn't justify the high price. First of all, the shower in our room had very low pressure. Secondly, there was a significant stain on the rug in our room in front of the sliding glass doors. Thirdly, when calling for a taxi at a requested time, twice we found that they had either lost our request, or forgotten to make the call. This was very frustrating, as there was a very significant shortage of taxis due to the regatta traffic, and it took 40 and 30 minutes respectively for the taxis to come once the call was made by the front desk. I expected better, and have experienced better in the past with this hotel. I will probably give them another chance, but I'm wary and it will depend on the cost.

Visit multiple times a year and always love it. Short flight gets your vacation started the same morning! We prefer to be in the middle of the action, so Newstead is ideal. Fabulous accommodations and staff will keep happy. Wonderful on-property restaurant (Beau Rivage) is just steps away and features creative French cuisine. Newstead provides THE best views of Hamilton Harbor (clean enough for a quick dip off the dock or paddle board); Convenient to Hamilton for dinner and shopping using the resort's little ferry; as well as easy shuttle ride to Elbow Beach for Mickey's or Sea Breezes; Blu at the Belmont Golf Course is my personal favorite. And Belmont is a great little course perfect for any level golfer. Lots to do and the best beaches in the world. But the best part of Bermuda are the Bermudians themselves who are delighted that you are visiting their little piece of heaven. One cautionary note: those scooters are not as easy to handle as the pros make them look. So be careful or use their excellent taxi services. So go, relax, have fun, and plan your return trip to heaven. Enjoy!

Lovely hotel, suites are good, right on the harbour. Convenient to Hamilton and all parts of Bermuda, so access to public transportation is one of the best spots on the island. Have been a guest there before and saw a marked improvement in the staff attitude this time, something that was definitely detracting before. Could be a 5 star resort, but currently misses the mark and I would rate it at a 3.5-3.7, even though they bill themselves as a luxury resort. Linens, towels, toiletries are nice but not really high end, furniture is nice but more Marriott than Intercontinental or Hyatt. When compared to the Hamilton Princess renovations and the new condo/hotels opening on the island, Newstead comes up short. Water shuttle is great amenity, but schedule is geared to business guests commuting across the harbour to work rather than to the tourist guest. The hotel shuttle van is good, but only runs to the golf course, a restaurant, and the hotel that lets guests use their ocean front beach. Maybe add a few trips into Hamilton to augment the water shuttle and perhaps down the road to the grocery store? Since only a pre-set number of people are allowed to use the ocean beach of the other hotel, it might be time to explore other options. The fine attention to details is another area that holds back Newstead: scuffed walls, dirty woodwork, burned out lights, and drawers that are off their runners are things that should be checked and fixed, but are left alone. The rooms were clean, but a luxury hotel does more. I would love to see Newstead move up a notch. The old chicken vs. egg dilemma; if they discount their rooms all the time, they will get the mid-range guests and only be able to garner a mid-range rating. If they don't discount their rooms, will they attract enough guests to warrant the investment in making this a truly 5 star resort? Only time will tell. We like the location enough that we'll be back again, as it is a nice place to stay. But Claridge's (London) it's not. Don't know what to say about the ownership options they offer: nice but expensive, given the mid-range feel of the rooms. The wealthy visitor has lots of high end options on the island now, so will bypass Newstead.

I didn't choose this place, however I was extremely happy upon seeing my room and looking around. Nice view of the harbor and Hamilton. The infinity pool and hot tub are great - wonderful setting to watch the sun set. The room was a mini apartment- nice kitchen and living room. The bath was nice with a large jacuzzi tub and separate shower. We'd love to come back again!!

We have been vacationing at the Newstead for 9 years and it is wonderful. The stay is essentially unchanged and they are exceptional. The food is great and the Zanzibar Tapas Lounge is a great addition. The beach at Coco Reefs I beautiful and the hotel provides a shuttle. The sunsets are phenomenal the staff at Belmont Hills Golf Course is very friendly. Best of all! Bermuda is visitor friendly, with great restaurants and "no" surprises. By the way, the Infinity Pool and large jacuzzi are a perfect way to end the day.
