A well located hotel in a residential area approximately 10-minutes walk from the city centre. Rooms are clean although rather spartan, with more storage space required. Nevertheless, I would recommend as the staff were both friendly and professional putting up with my poor Italian. The rooftop bar & restaurant, Over is a real plus utilised for breakfast too. Menu is either Modern Italian twist or very good quality sushi. The bar staff are excellent, preparing a range of classic cocktails with a good or small wine selection. Seating is both outside or in an air conditioned glass all round cube. Views of the city with beautiful sunsets a bonus.

Nice hotel, informative staff, perfect location. A good rooftop breakfast room with all-round city views doubles as a pleasant cocktail bar in the evenings . The location could hardly be better - not right in the crowded and noisy centre but easily walkable from it,. Several bus lines stop nearby, as well as the airport bus shuttle. A great deal of Palermo's centre has been pedestrianised since we were last here 20 years ago and it has made a huge difference to walkability and air quality. There are numerous restaurants and bars a few minutes away as well as some high-end clothing and fashion shops. It's an easy walk down to the port and the yacht club (bar/restaurant open to non members) on the 'trapezoidal mole'. The breakfast/cocktail room is an ultra modern glass box on the former roof, now the hotel's 8th floor. The ground floor reception area/lounge is also in a chic modern furnished and decorated style. Our room was more functional, but who needs more? Everything in the room did in fact function well, and as it should, The reception staff gave us good advice on things to see , where to go and how to get there. The breakfast was fresh and good. We didn't try the (bookable) wellness facility. Apart from the obvious and famous castles. churches, palaces and cloisters our favourite place in Palermo was the wonderful Botanic Gardens. We took a picnic lunch in , bought from an excellent café near the gate, and spent a lovely few hours wandering round, impressed more than anything by the wide selection of trees.

Location of the hotel is good-10 to 15 minute walk to the central shopping/restaurant area. Room was ok at best. Very dusty. We were given a junior suite and the condition of the furniture and walls were scuffed. I found the room to be claustrophobic and worse than that we were directly below the roof top bar and restaurant and it at times was very noisy. Lobby was nice however the restroom is not in the lobby but on the 8th floor. Then there was the breakfast room which you have to book a time slot for-we found that the staff were rude and very disorganized at breakfast time. The staff are not dedicated to assist guests as they are too busy getting the food out to the buffet. Tables are at a premium and guests can be quite nasty when they can't get the table they want. And do not expect the staff or management to intervene to calm the waters. Would highly recommend NOT staying at this hotel.

The hotel is sited on a fairly quiet street just north of the historic centre. In contrast to the other hotel I used in this city ,the room ( first floor front) was quiet at night. There was little noise from adjacent rooms, and none from above, despite the lack of carpet. In respect of the other essential attributes for sleep, the beds were firm and comfortable, with proper smooth sheets large enough for the mattress. There was an upper sheet, not a duvet cover or duvet- ideal for the frightful temperatures here. Airconditioning had power in reserve, although it ceased working when the keycard( a plain piece of plastic will not work) was removed. The curtain was opaque. More refined attributes of the room were weaker, apart from the minibar which had a good selection of drinks ,mostly in glass, not plastic.. The appearance was very bare and storage was poor apart from four small drawers in the wardrobe.( only captive hangars). There were no bedside cabinets (just tables),but the main annoyance was the total absence of coathooks in room or bathroom. The bathroom was the usual modern failure.Although large enough for a bath, there was none. The shower lacked a door and easily wet the remainder of the room.A soapdish was not provided. The basin was very shallow but did have a functional waste plug.Bidet and WC( modern flush geometry; very good) were fine. We had evening meals and breakfasts in the rooftop restaurant with a fine view. Both were entirely satisfactory.Breakfast had waitress service for tea and coffee. The teapots were supplied with (fairly) hot water- I did not take coffee. There was a really good toaster, and the usual cold selections. I would use the hotel again.Perhaps they may bother to drill a few holes and complete the work.

We had four nights at Hotel Plaza Opera which is located in a nice quiet neighbourhood of Palermo but still accessible to the retail stores and restaurants. The room was very comfortable, the beds and pillows were great. Our accommodation included the buffet breakfast which was adequate .. The reception staff we very welcoming and knowledgeable about all tourist attractions. The hotel was clean and tidy.
