Beautifully appointed. Very personable staff, and most accommodating. The hotel itself is updated but has maintained the integrity of the original design and architecture. Very old fashioned (still uses thick brass KEYS!) yet modern in service and convenience. Wonderful bar and restaurant. Located in a residential, private area but only two blocks from the famous Worth Avenue. Won't stay anywhere else when I come again!

Foe many years I have stayed at the Colony, but on this visit I decided to try the Chesterfield as friends have been and loved it. I was delighted by the attentive staff, the resturant and bar, and the location. WHile the room was modest in terms of size, it was well appointed and priced reasonable. I will be back.

This was not the experience we had anticipated from the reviews and website nor from the price paid for the room. Although the hotel speaks of itself as a high end boutique hotel it is an old building that has been economically maintained. The room is dark and small. There wasn't even anywhere to put a room service tray. The waiter placed it on the small desk where I had to stand to eat my dinner. Then sat on the bed to have my wine so I could it enjoy it while watching tv. I spilled the wine glass on the sheets and the management left me a message. They are charging me for the linens if the wine doesn't come out. Phenomenal! I've never heard of a hotel charging for sheets that were spilled on. The cost of running a business - tablecloths, sheets, towels. Watch out potential client. We are leaving immediately... it's like being an unwanted houseguest. You are very unwelcome here! And I had prepaid 2k to stay here... really sad that some management chooses to run their hotels this way.

My husband and I travel from England to dine here and, as it was our anniversary, decided to stay the night. We were asked, at check in, if it was a special occasion 'yes our 47th wedding anniversary' we said. Naively we thought we might be offered a complimentary drink, would have been nice! More irritating was one of the reviews saying how nice it was to be offered a sherry when checking in - one rule for one!! We love the quirky wall coverings, monkeys, leopards etc but our room, and there is no question here, was small, no bedside tables, small bed, no 'fridge, no coffee machine. This doesn't sound like a luxury five star hotel does it?. We hadn't dined for a year and, surprise surprise, the menu hadn't changed - to be fair maybe they had just come back to that menu again! Again on reading the reviews I was horrified to hear of the man bothered by music until nearly midnight - no hotel should offer rooms like that. Would we stay again- yes it's worth another try. We won't go on a special occasion, then we won't be disappointed, we will ask for a room with no noise and we will ask for a larger bed!. The staff are consistently lovely without exception.

The place is charming and luxurious. I did not get a chance to take full advantage as I was visiting friends a good distance away. As I interacted with the staff and spent my down time in the hotel, I was totally impressed. Valet parking was included at no extra charge, a real benefit it this day. Great vibe albeit a more refined and gentler one. Highly recommend this place and I will be going back (soon I hope). Note its location is walking distance from Worth Avenue and only ten minutes walk to the beach.
