I didn’t realize the Kimpton group were no longer involved with the hotel until I read it in other reviews on my first night as I definitely sensed this wasn’t the same place I stayed before. They are missed. The owner Jeff Greene, says “ his top priority is excellence in all phases of operations at the 134-room resort hotel in his town, which he says reflects on him.” Well he needs to pay a visit as there is a complete lack of onsite management or it could be they really don’t care ?? What did I observe? The lack of training was startling. Inexperienced, but well meaning, staff getting no direction. At NO point during my stay, did I observe ANYONE who resembled a manager. Pool: “ We can’t do a Pina colada because all the ice is gone” Also at the pool, “ we don’t have grapefruit juice here, but you can get it at the main bar.” ( meaning I go get it ) Front Desk: lady to the clerk ( its 7:55am ) “ where are the valet people ? Clerk, “ I’m sorry, there’s supposed to here at 7am” Key cards not working (“ locks must be dusty.”) The pool “ open dawn to dusk, “ but no towels until after 9am. Likewise with the beach. And what caring hotel does not provide an adequate amount of umbrellas in a hot sunny climate? And the kicker - An egregious 18% “service charge” slapped on your F&B bill ! No, that’s not part of the tip, so just add a 18%tip and it’s a total of 36% on top your bill and I can venture to guess there is a morale issue as tipped staff are most likely not been fully compensated. I mean I could go and on, but judging from past reviews, Jeff Greene isn’t reading them. He’s just busy screwing us.

The tideline has a wonderful location right on the beach. The rooms are acceptable, but that is about it. For $600+ a night I expected so much more. The room itself is clean, but worn. The bathroom is more of a sink and a stall, not a room, and it is very small. A sink with very little counter space and all the wood around it was scratched up. The tile is a brown/copper color and shows all the soap scum. The restauranat for dinner is a 2-3, for breakfast is a 0. Both mornings we ate there the eggs were cold and rubber-like. And they are $17. The first day it took over an hour to get our food and we had to send it back, the eggs were like plastic they sat around so long. The second day they were just like rubber. The one dinner we ate there was OK for hotel food. The good news was we were not charged for the first breakfast. The staff at the front desk seem indifferent and inexperienced. No smiles, no hello’s- nothing. The valet, beach staff and maid service are very nice. The fitness center is small, no staff even walked through. The basket labelled “clean towels” had no towels, either day I used it. Now the best part, the beach, which is the only reason to stay here, has 10 umbrellas for guests and they need at least 20. Guests actually fight over the shade. How could a resort on the beach expect people to sit in the Fla sun with no shade. The Four Seasons next door has umbrellas for all their guests. To make it worse, the umbrellas are old and beat up, some don’t even open properly. Can’t this hotel afford to buy new umbrellas each year! The lounges are very worn, sag in the middle and are cheap. For the price this is a rip off. Go elsewhere.

Tideline has a lot of potential, but a lack of strong management has created some pretty critical shortcomings. Lets start with the good: -Nina, a server in the restaurant, is a shining star. She exemplifies what it means to deliver a world class customer service experience. -The hotel is in a great location -Most of the staff are pretty friendly. The unfortunately much longer list is that of the issues I have dealt with less than 1/3 into my stay: -The pool was open 24 hours my first week here. Then without warning they decided it would close at sun down due to"trespassing issues" This means I cannot use the hot tub or pool because I work 5am to 7pm every day. - On a particular Weekday, I came down to get my keys from the valet to go to work and there was not a single employee in the building from 5am - 545am. I wandered from back to front for 45 minutes, while the front desk phone rang un answered. In addition to making me late, I also had to let myself into the valet closet because there was not a single worker in the hotel. What is worse, the only reason I could do this is because they leave the code to the valet closet sitting in plain site on the front desk (23*4). Not a great idea if you are having trespassing issues. -On a different day, on my way to work at 5am, I put in a request for maintenance to clear the drain in my shower that was backing up and flooding the room. I was informed they are not in until 7am but they would be up first thing to take care of it. I returned home from work to shower only to find no-one came and the shower still flooded. -Today I returned from being out all day only to find that house keeping did not close my door when they finished, and left all of my belongings exposed. I am one of the easiest going people you will ever meet. But when you charge $600/night for rooms, $40 for brunch (with 18% service charge + 18% tip), and $27/night to park there is a certain level of service you expect to accompany such charges. With over a month left to go on my stay down here I think it may be time to transfer hotels : (

This feels like a hotel with no management - the front desk staff are under-trained and not at all engaging providing a poor first impression (to the point of never looking you in the eye) - the rooms themselves are old and pretty beat-up - dark wood everywhere - I had an upgraded room & it had a fantastic walk around balcony but the room itself was not great - doors to the rooms don't close properly unless you slam them! I was there six nights and the mini bar was never refilled and the daily cleaning service was superficial to say the least. As I said the staff seemed under-trained and with nobody directing them - so I would advise getting some real hands-on management going, be out there observing and coaching your people how to create a customer-friendly environment & invest in refurbishing the rooms - you have a great location but I would not stay here again & it takes a lot for me to post a negative review.

I just stayed at this hotel and I just have to say it was great. Upon check in it was very busy at the desk there was only one person who was the Assistant front office manager Priscilla. The phone was ringing on and on and there were more than 4 other guests at the desk. In any other place per my previous experiences this could equal a disaster and terrible first impression however, Priscilla was such a champ and super professional in a situation where lots of people would have lost their cool. Although she was so busy upon checking me in she took the time to give me an upgrade to make up for the wait and also took the time to inform me on everything in the hotel. Even after check in she called me to assure everything was in order and every request I sent her way she assured it was completed. Without this great service and attention I would have rated this hotel 3 stars but the service provided by Priscilla allowed me to rate this at 5 with no guilt. If you are looking for great service please do visit this property you will get that and then some!
