Traveled with my wife and 2 boys (15 & 10). The resort is beautiful from the outside. The drive in was beautiful. The "concierge" was less than helpful at check-in. Minimal information about the amenities, hours, etc. The Ocean golf course is closed - no mention of that for example. Our first 3 bedroom villa was disgusting. Dated furnishings (1980s) and dirty - dead bugs in the drawers. They were kind enough to move us to another villa which was more recently decorated (say 1990s). The floors were still quite filthy (black grout that didn't start that way) and walls banged up with missing plaster and marks all over. Left to find some dinner at the resort. Having worked half a day and driven over, went to see concierge for a casual restaurant. Were told we needed collared shirts for the only restaurant serving food after 7pm. Went off property to eat. Next morning breakfast at Delfinos was meh - food just OK and service poor - took 15 minutes to get a cup of coffee as no one came to our table. Beach was lovely and they do set up your chairs and umbrellas for you. However, NO SERVICE ON THE BEACH! What? Isn't this a beach resort? We were told it was due to the clubhouse being repaired from storm damage. How is that my problem? Oh, and the nearest restroom is all the way back at the hotel or the pool. The pool was OK. Lazy river was so lazy it had no current. And it was cloudy. And no lifeguards so kids doing whatever they wanted. Power went out the next day - not the resorts fault but no information given. We had to call FPL ourselves to get a time estimate - which was spot on, by the way. Golf at Conservatory was very good and excellent service, but far away from resort. We ate at the pool a couple of days and the menu was very limited and food was OK. Concierge had told us there is "no eating poolside and there will never be!" Somehow, everyone was doing just that. Please get your facts straight. We have stayed at Innisbrook many times and had great experiences with Salamander but Hammock Beach was unsatisfactory - we will not return.

I've stayed here several times over the past few years for work related functions. Always a comfortable, enjoyable visit. I prefer to stay in the Tower, and in a room facing the ocean so I can sit on the balcony, relax and watch the waves and the beaufiful grounds between the hotel and the ocean. You can hear it roar no matter how high up you are if you open the sliders. I liked to start my busy mornings there with a few minutes watching the ocean, sipping orange juice. The rooms are comfortable, and mine had attractive dark wood accents throughout. The bath had a soaking tub, so don't forget the bubble-bath accoutrements! I would have definitely have preferred better light in the bath for makeup application. The exterior walks to the rooms in the Tower show this isn't a new facility, and at the time of my stay some touch up paint was in order. I love to wander the grounds and walk the beach, but don't miss the decadent treat that is the indoor pool. Exposed wood ceiling, columns... absolutely beautiful. It has a retro lux feel that I really enjoyed. The beach itself is great; pale, well packed sand so it's good for those long relaxing strolls after a day of learning. Towel service is available also for your convenience. They have a respectable fitness area, and many places to gather on the grounds. I do recommend this as a great, relaxing place to stay.

The pools, beach and common areas were fabulous. The service was top-notch. Perfect for families. There were some private couple areas, but never went there. As much as I want to give the resort a higher rating, the poor condition of the unit just prevents that from happening. Opening the door to our 3 bedroom, 3 full-bath unit and you are transported back to the 'Golden Girls' Era! It is so dated, but even worse, it is in terrible condition. The walls are filthy. One wall was full of sticker remnants. Huge chunks of plaster was missing from several areas. The molding around the dishwasher was off and nails were sticking out. The dining table looked like one that would be used in a garage for projects - it was gross, with much of the veneer missing. There was a curtain rod falling off the wall over one of the twin beds. We had to move the bed 2 out of 3 nights because we couldn't get anyone up to fix it and I was afraid it would fall on my daughter. The bedding was nasty. I guess it was tan or just over-washed - all very pilly. The beds had old spreads, no comforters here! In all fairness, the bathrooms seemed updated Two of the baths had soaking tubs and nice glass showers. It is unfortunate, because the unit was huge with coffered ceilings, sweeping views with large sliding doors. I'm really disappointed that a unit in such bad shape would be rented. It really gives the Salamander properties a black-eye and I wouldn't be inclined to stay at another of their resorts because of it.

My spouse and I stayed here for a weekend getaway. The resort is huge and has some beautiful aspects to it. There were also some annoying hassles that took away from some of the relaxing aspects of the resort. First, the good stuff. The staff was very friendly. The beach itself is beautiful and unique, due to the rocks that are along the shore (they are covered up during high tide) and the overall privacy of this part of the beach. It was also wonderful to have fresh water and towels at the ready so all we had to carry down with us were our books, sunscreen, and room keys! The staff who place the loungers and umbrellas were amazing and truly made our beach getaway great! The room we were in was quite large and was decorated in a Tommy Bahama style. The balcony was a good size for two people to sit and read a book. There are also a variety of pools to use. The lazy river was fun too! Now the hassles: When we arrived, the front gate was very slow to verify our reservation and let us into the resort and the check-in process took over 30 minutes (there wasn't a line, it just was very slow). Also, due to allergies, I requested twice that we have a down-free room (on the phone and in writing), and when we got into the room, there was still down on the bed. We checked in late in the evening, so there had been time to change the bedding. Also, all of the rooms are individually owned so they each have their own decor. I think because each one is individually owned, there will be idiosyncrasies to each one. Our room's air conditioner was so loud when it turned off that it woke us up multiple times at night. Ear plugs worked well though. The heaters in the kids' pool was broken when we stayed there so they were letting the kids swim in the adult only area, which detracted from some of the couples getaway vibe. This was not posted anywhere on the website or told to us during check-in. We only found out after asking our server during lunch by the pool. Also, every time we went to use the hot tub, it was full of children and teenagers so we weren't able to use it (and I was concerned about the kids' safety). The food was nothing spectacular. It was average in quality but priced pretty high. The outdoor movie was cool to see set up but was a little annoying. We could see it from our balcony and could hear some of it as well. That might annoy some people who want to sit on their balconies at night and listen to the ocean. The other frustrating part was that we chose this resort in part because we wanted to use the free driving range amenity but at check-in were told that due to the hurricane last fall the gold course and driving range at the resort were being reconstructed. I wish that a notice had been placed on the part of the website that lists resort amenities (the pdf that you pull up). I did appreciate that when we discussed our concerns with the front desk staff, they listened, took notes, and worked on fixing whatever problems were happening. So, overall, we left more relaxed than when we arrived, and there were some kinks that made the trip less than ideal, especially for the price paid to stay there. There were plenty of families with children and teenagers and it seemed to be a great place for a family vacation.

We are from New Jersey and traveled with my Husband and 2 Teenage Girls. First time and Hammock Beach Resort and was so beautiful! We stayed at a 3 bedroom villa at Cinnamon Beach which was right next door to Hammock Beach, but still had full access to all the amenities at the resort. The villa was perfect for our family, plenty of room, clean and all modern amenities needed. The pools, beach and lazy river where amazing!!!! We enjoyed our stay and had a wonderful Spring Break. The only negative I would say is there are not many choices on site for restaurants and the restaurants are very pricy$$. Also it was very hard to get a ice coffee onsite!! But the resort is close by many wonderful places to eat outside of the resort and near bye St. Augustine.
