Beautiful Accommodations, Disappointing Service Experience

We recently stayed at Yacht Harbor Village and came away with mixed feelings. The accommodations themselves exceeded our expectations. The unit was spacious, clean, well-appointed, and one of the highlights of the trip. Unfortunately, the guest service experience did not match the quality of the accommodations. The issues began at check-in. While the front desk staff was pleasant, we were provided very little information about our stay. We received room keys and a map, but no directions to our unit, parking instructions, Wi-Fi information, wristbands, or guidance on resort amenities and checkout procedures. When we arrived at Yacht Harbor Village, no one was available to assist us, so we largely had to figure everything out on our own. Throughout the stay, several service breakdowns became increasingly frustrating. A paid beach chair reservation could not be located, security later stopped us because we had never been issued guest wristbands during check-in, and basic information had to be obtained through multiple follow-up conversations. Individually, these issues were minor. Collectively, they created an experience that felt far from seamless. There were also a few maintenance concerns. The pool and spa water at Yacht Harbor Village appeared cloudy, the luggage carts were undersized and in poor condition, and the lazy river was often obstructed by large groups of adults congregating in corners and narrow sections, making it difficult for families and children to enjoy the attraction as intended. That said, I want to recognize Sailor (Pool Manager) and Bryant (Security), who were exceptional. Both were professional, courteous, and genuinely helpful in resolving issues that were not of their making. Their customer service stood out and reflected the level of hospitality we expected throughout the resort. Overall, the accommodations deserve high marks, but the guest experience surrounding them did not meet the standards of a luxury resort. We are unlikely to return.

July 2026 - The outdated Lodge

Dear General Manager, writing to share feedback regarding our recent stay at Hammock Beach Resort (The Lodge) over the extended Fourth of July weekend. Before I begin, I want to emphasize that this was our sixth stay at the Lodge over the past 10 years. Our family has always enjoyed visiting your property, which makes it especially disappointing to share that this experience fell well below the standard we've come to expect. Upon arriving at the resort, we stopped at the security gate and were informed that we needed to check in directly at the Lodge. This was never communicated during the reservation process, despite booking directly through the resort's website. While not a major inconvenience, it created unnecessary confusion at the start of our stay. Unfortunately, check-in did not improve our first impression. The associate assisting us was unable to locate our reservation and immediately suggested that we must have booked through a third-party website. We explained that we had booked directly through Hammock Beach Resort's website. Although the issue was eventually resolved, the interaction was not particularly welcoming. After settling into our room, we immediately noticed several maintenance and housekeeping concerns. The toilet handle was broken and would not flush. Thankfully, the housekeeper was exceptionally helpful, contacted maintenance right away, and the repair was completed within the hour. We also noticed an unpleasant odor in the room. Again, the housekeeper was accommodating and offered to freshen the room while we were away. Beyond those issues, however, the room itself appeared to be in significant need of renovation. The front door had chipped and peeling paint, the carpeting was stained, worn, and faded, the shower showed noticeable discoloration, and the furnishings and décor appeared unchanged from many years ago. Given the premium nightly rate, we expected accommodations that reflected the quality and reputation of your resort. Instead, the room felt dated and overdue for a refresh. We also experienced difficulty finding available lounge chairs at each of the pools throughout our stay. We certainly understood that it was a busy holiday weekend, but the limited seating and condition of many of the chairs—several of which were torn or missing support—made it difficult to enjoy the pool areas. In previous visits, we found these spaces to be much better organized and maintained. I do want to recognize the outstanding employees we encountered during our stay. The beach staff, in particular, were friendly, attentive, and provided exceptional service. The housekeeper who assisted us also deserves recognition for his promptness and professionalism. Their efforts were appreciated and stood out as highlights of our visit. Unfortunately, despite the excellent service from many of your team members, the overall condition of the accommodations and resort amenities no longer reflects the value of the rates being charged. As longtime guests, this is disappointing to say, but our family has decided that we will be exploring other vacation destinations in the future rather than returning to Hammock Beach Resort. I hope you will accept this feedback in the spirit in which it is intended. We have many fond memories at your resort over the past decade, and I sincerely hope these comments help identify opportunities to restore the level of quality and experience that once made Hammock Beach one of our favorite places to visit. Sushi Stix Pedro 10 out of 10, The entire staff at the Loggerheads Sports bar 10 out 10, and Trinity along with Winter at the pool bar were 10 out 10. We will be back, just hope the check-in process improves! :)
