From the moment we stepped foot on the grounds at the Hammock Beach Resort our experience was exceptional. Great care had been taken to dramatically improve the landscaping in the wake of the recent hurricane's in Florida and the resort was nothing short of beautiful. Where the damage was most severe you could see that the resort was busily addressing and we were impressed with the progress that was made during our stay. We found the staff, delightfully engaging and Alberta at the front desk went out of her way to make sure our every need was met. She was just one of many service-centric staff members that made Hammock Beach's customer service World class. Our room was spacious and impressive with a postcard view of both the grounds and the ocean. For those that require a room that is a sanctuary of relaxation, Look no further. It had everything we needed. The beds were "uber comfy" and the towels and linen impeccably fresh. We made it a point to sample all of the restaurants and they did not disappoint. Each dining experience seem to outdo the next and we were amazed at how professional, courteous and responsive the wait staff was. Both my wife and I found it difficult to leave when our five days at the resort were up. As we got in our car for the drive back to the airport my wife eagerly confessed that she could hardly wait for a return trip to the resort. For those that are looking for the perfect Florida getaway, look no further than Hammock Beach. This is the place!

Hammock Beach looks like a beautiful resort. The grounds are gorgeous and from the outside the building is very impressive and looks like a 4 or 5 star resort. However, this is the deception that hides a not so impressive secret. Overall our visit was good. Not bad, not wonderful. We have had much better stays at places like a good Hyatt or an Embassy Suites. For this visit, we stayed for 3 nights /4 days in a 3 bedroom suite and the size and layout were great. However on the scale of hotels, the upkeep is less than desirable. The main exterior courtyard is dated and drab, the walkways and balconies to the rooms are drab and stark. One just needs to look at unit doors, railings etc. to see maintenance and painting are lacking. Pavement, decks and outdoor areas could use some much needed pressure washing and cleaning as many areas especially outdoor stairs etc. were black with mold/mildew. The unit interiors are fairly clean, up to date and at first glance impressive. However, due to lack of good housekeeping the typical expectations of a good hotel are missing. Upon our arrival we found several dead roaches in the master closet. The fact that they were dead was good, but the fact that it revealed to us that vacuuming had not taken place was a bit upsetting and where there are dead roaches, there are live ones (we were on the 5th floor). The rooms were cozy and worked for what they needed to do, but neither my wife or I liked the bed and did not sleep great. We found the mattress to be average and the pillows to be lumpy and low budget. In addition housekeeping would come by each day but was not always johnny on the spot with replacing used shampoos, lotions etc. Desk drawers were lacking paper, pens, coffee makers did not have filters (although pre-filtered coffee packets were in the room, but we were told filters where also available, they were not as we had our own coffee with us for the coffee maker. No sugar options either other than regular...even the cheaper hotels provide equal, splenda and other options when providing coffee). There were several pools on property, and they are impressive as a collection and asa a complex, but again they could use maintenance. Pool bottoms where stained and could use a good acid cleaning. The hours things opened/closed was strange and restaurants did not stay open late. So on a Sunday afternoon, their main sport bar (Loggerheads) is not open until 5pm, so much for NFL on a Sunday. Prices on property were on the high side. A Bloody Mary with lots of ice, little alcohol and not very tasty in a moderately size plastic cup was $13. A bit pricey if you ask me, especially for a Bloody Mary, which is an easy drink to jazz up, make an impression with and still charge without breaking the bank. On the brighter side, they put much more maintenance and effort into the grounds, landscape, golf course etc. All of that is absolute stunning and their is access to the beach although the beach could be maintained better (lots of seaweed). We will not rate the beach so much though as it was too close to the storms that battered Florida and its tough to rate the beaches after they had been hammered so hard by the storms. Hammock Beach isn't a disaster, but there isn't much to do if you are looking to be entertained. If you just want to get away and relax, then perhaps this is the place for you. We had a good time there, we just were not impressed by the resort as a whole. However, that was our opinion and its worth a visit at least once to decide if its a place for you and your family.

We were at Hammock Beach Resort from 10/5 to 10/10. This was a work conference for my wife but a true vacation for myself! This is our second time here as were we here about 4 years ago as well. The resort is large! The hotel is gigantic and yet somehow everything is in easy walking distance! There are six acres of pools including adult pools if you don't want to hear kids screaming and splashing (doesn't matter to me!). We had a suite this time and it was well laid out with a nice ocean view. My only complaint is I wish there was a sliding door between the bedroom and the living area so as not to disturb late sleepers. However, its not a critical thing. The room is very well kept with excellent maid service. There was even a small kitchenette with a cook top even if we refused to use it (vacation!). Our suite was on the 9th floor (of 10) and we never waited longer than 30 seconds for an elevator. The onsite restaurants seem good although we really didn't use them. We had most dinners at the NFFS Conference my wife was attending. We did have one meal at the bar in Loggerheads. The service was a bit slow but the place was extremely crowded due to a comedy show. The bartender apologized multiple times to us even though it wasn't his fault. Matt was a good guy! I spent most of my time at the pool. The pool bartenders and waitresses were friendly and helpful. They even let me order a grilled cheese from the kids menu! Hey, I love grilled cheese! The waitresses brought drinks right to the pool edge and handed them to us. Thanks for being so nice! Now, the beach. There is only a single beach access but that's OK. Walking is good for you. There is an attendant at the beach entrance with towels. She was friendly and smiling. The beach is not wide but there are lounges and umbrellas. The surf was a bit rough but hey, who can control that? There were certainly signs of hurricane damage but for the most part it was clean and well maintained. There are no lifeguards and signs do warn of riptides. The lobby bar serves rather appetizing looking sushi even if I didn't get a chance to try it. Again the bartenders were smiling and helpful at all times. The staff in general is smiling and helpful. I suspect they like working here. One last item. If you come here, fly into Daytona Beach if possible. That is an easier drive than from Jacksonville like we did.

I just checked in. The room has a boiler and a heater/AC inside the closet. The noise is terrible. I asked to have the room changed and the manager and the front desk useless staff tell me all the rooms are the same and since the hotel is sold out they cannot give me another room. If you still want to come to this place bring your ear muffs and a power cord. The room is outdated and there is not enough outlets to charge batteries for computer, smartphone, etc ... The staff at the front desk is terrible. A bunch of arrogant and worthless people. They left me waiting for the manager for more than half an hour. The manager told me they were going to send someone to assess the problem and I am still waiting in my room. Unless the maintenance crew can replace the closet door by a brick wall the noise won't go away. This place needs new and more competent manager. It's not worth of the price they charge.

This place is awesome. Everything was perfect. In spite of the real bad weather the resort made everyone feel safe. The indoor pool was really crowded..due to the rainy weather and everything being shut down. But very clean. Our room was lovely and clean. They always brought me everything I asked for.
