Celebrating its inaugural opening in 1936, Palm Springs' Colony Palms Hotel (originally the Colonial House) was a haven for old Hollywood and the international jet set. After careful restoration and renovation, the hotel reopened in 2007 with the bravado of a Prohibition-era speakeasy and the charm of a four-star luxury boutique hotel. With names like Purple Palm Restaurant and "Palme D'Or Residence" paying homage to the hotel's historic past and VIP visitors, the old becomes new again at Colony Palms Hotel. The hotel's 56 guestrooms and suites feature stunning mountain views, oversized bedding with custom designed Turkish Suzani headboards, and Italian linens. Plush white towels and Signature CPH bathrobes offset the cool marble countertops and oversized vanities in the bathrooms, while bath products by C.O. Bigelow create an en-suite spa atmosphere in every room. Your posh accommodations become your personal theater and entertainment center with iPod docking station, high-definition televisions and complimentary wireless Internet. At Colony Palms Hotel you are invited to pursue every pleasure with Indulgences—additional details to make your stay unique and unforgettable, including chocolate-covered strawberries, flowers, and champagne service for two upon arrival.

I recently stayed at the Colony Palms Hotel and Bungalows, and to say I am deeply disappointed would be an understatement. While the property itself has potential, the entire experience was completely derailed by the appalling lack of professionalism from the management team, specifically the Front Office Manager, DeeAnna Windh. From the moment of check-in, it was clear that guest satisfaction is a zero priority for her. We encountered a major issue with our reservation and room readiness, and when we politely asked to speak with a manager to resolve it, DeeAnna’s attitude was shockingly dismissive and defensive. Instead of offering a solution or exhibiting basic hospitality, she was patronizing, rude, and treated our legitimate concerns as an inconvenience to her day. An establishment of this caliber relies heavily on its leadership to set the standard for service. Unfortunately, DeeAnna Windh sets a standard of hostility and incompetence. Her complete lack of empathy and poor communication skills ruined what was supposed to be a relaxing getaway. A beautiful property means absolutely nothing if the front office management treats paying guests with utter contempt. I will never stay here again, and I strongly advise others to look elsewhere in Palm Desert if you expect to be treated with basic respect.

This hotel is amazing. The staff, the rooms, the pool, the Colony Club are all stunning. I came here alone to relax after Coachella and I could not be happier about the selection.

Exceptional service. A quiet, cute hotel with an excellent pool set up and bar. The restaurant served a nice breakfast.

We stopped in for lunch at the bar. Nice lunch but poor bar service. Seems that the bar staff were more interested in kibitzing with each other than serving us. Served us poolside tacos which were excellent. They did not provide us side plates (we were sharing and its a messy dish) which made it awkward to eat. When eventually the bartend noticed my empty beer (about 15 mins) he asked if I wanted another. That was the first attention we were able to get - so we won't be back for a casual lunch. Service was reflected in my less than 10% tip. I could have mentioned these things to him but it shouldn't be necessary. Neither should my wait for the bill and eventually having to almost walk away before we got attention. Needs a manager to smarter up the service.

My stay at The Colony Palms had some highlights aesthetically, but overall the service and experience did not live up to expectations...especially given the price point. At check-in, the staff wasn’t very informative about the amenities or property layout. We were offered a welcome drink, which was a nice touch in theory, but the glasses weren’t clean, so we didn’t actually get to enjoy it until later in the evening. The biggest disappointment was the pool service. It consistently took about 25 minutes to get drinks from the bar, and there was no staff bringing orders to guests. This happened multiple times. On top of that, there were no chairs available for me and my boyfriend either morning because they were all claimed by around 8 a.m., which made it difficult to enjoy the main amenity we were looking forward to. Pool towels ran out by 12 when we got to the pool, so we didn't get towel right away either. There wasnt even a lot of people in the pool area for it to seem overwhelming for the staff. Food quality was also underwhelming. While staff were passing out popsicles poolside, they only made it to about a quarter of the guests, which felt inconsistent and poorly managed. Overall, the property itself is beautiful, but for the price, the service fell short. Between the slow pool service, lack of seating, and uneven hospitality, the experience felt overpriced and not worth the cost. I wouldn’t return unless there were major improvements to service and guest experience.

A friend and I just returned from our stay at the Colony Palms Hotel for a 4-day package in a Casita. We had an amazing time! All of the wonderful staff made us feel as if we were staying at someone's private home. The pool area has a hip vibe and amazing food. The location is great, close to Palm Canyon Drive and the Movie Colony area is directly adjacent to the hotel. We had an amazing time and will definitely return.
