Colony Palms Hotel in Palm Springs, California

Celebrating its inaugural opening in 1936, Palm Springs' Colony Palms Hotel (originally the Colonial House) was a haven for old Hollywood and the international jet set. After careful restoration and renovation, the hotel reopened in 2007 with the bravado of a Prohibition-era speakeasy and the charm of a four-star luxury boutique hotel. With names like Purple Palm Restaurant and "Palme D'Or Residence" paying homage to the hotel's historic past and VIP visitors, the old becomes new again at Colony Palms Hotel. The hotel's 56 guestrooms and suites feature stunning mountain views, oversized bedding with custom designed Turkish Suzani headboards, and Italian linens. Plush white towels and Signature CPH bathrobes offset the cool marble countertops and oversized vanities in the bathrooms, while bath products by C.O. Bigelow create an en-suite spa atmosphere in every room. Your posh accommodations become your personal theater and entertainment center with iPod docking station, high-definition televisions and complimentary wireless Internet. At Colony Palms Hotel you are invited to pursue every pleasure with Indulgences—additional details to make your stay unique and unforgettable, including chocolate-covered strawberries, flowers, and champagne service for two upon arrival.

At the Colony Palms Hotel classic charm and contemporary elegance come together in every detail, from the oversized red-rimmed linen umbrellas surrounding the poolside lounge chairs to the croquet games set up along the property. Purple Palm Restaurant and Bar overlooks the garden and the pool, while low hanging lights and overstuffed purple cushions create a lounge-type ambiance where the menu is as timeless as the atmosphere. The Moroccan-inspired Spa at Colony Palms features four treatment rooms, a fitness center, and a professionally trained and certified staff to ensure your every moment is refined and divine. Facials for men and women, massages, salon services, and specialty treatments are available for every ache, pain, and mood, so allow yourself to be pampered. Less than two hours from Hollywood, Disneyland, and the most renowned landmarks in Southern California, the Colony Palms Hotel is ideally situated for shopping, sightseeing, and soaking up the "Golden State's" internationally acclaimed beaches. Or, if you are unsure of where to begin, the hotel's concierge happily recommends the trendiest hotspots or the quiet, intimate spaces to set the mood. At Colony Palms Hotel, Old World glitz and glamour still reign supreme, but today, you are the star.

I attended a wedding this past weekend at the Colony Palms Hotel, and it was absolutely exquisite! Such a beautiful and classic property (from the 1930s), with gorgeous architecture, pool and gardens. The staff was so kind and attentive. I even left my credit card by accident, and the manager Beverly overnighted it to me :) Highly recommended A+!

Nice rooms (a bit small), but if you come during Spring, before the temperature gets too hot, "not a problem"' --as you will want to spend your time at the pool (and jacuzzi) and enjoy the excellent food and drinks served at their restaurant and by their excellent poolside service. During our visit, the clientele (some of it, international) was delightful, including their well-behaved children. The spa service I chose, a massage, was super. Reserve for a lovely vacation, when it isn't boiling hot in Palm Springs. Wishing you well, even if you crowd us out of a room we would like to book! You will be lucky to get a resero toaapaExec

My wife and I celebrated our 52nd anniversary at this exceptional luxury boutique resort last week. It was a great fit. The manicured grounds are unique for a desert environment, creating shade, a sense of privacy and beauty. The staff was "routinely exceptional", from the onsite manager down to the groundskeepers, maintenance and room staff. The pool area is the centerpiece of this property, adjacent to an excellent onsite restaurant, the Purple Palm. Complimentary newspaper, morning coffee and afternoon tea are available at the office. Fruit-flavored water is available by the pool. One thing we did learn: not all "deluxe" rooms are equally equipped. So, if you must have an in-room fireplace, claw-footed tub, king-sized bed, etc, specify your needs upfront or when you arrive. The management is willing to make adjustments, upon request, including improved in-room seating. We appreciated the mini-fridge in our room, but mini-bar items in the fridge limited its usefulness. The resort's location is one block from the highly active downtown area, within walking distance for some. For restaurants, we enjoyed Lulus, Loco Charlies, and the Mirasol. Elmer's was also nice, and frequented by locals. During our visit, we engaged fellow guests from various countries and backgrounds, leading to several pleasant conversations. Restful, relaxing visit!

My friend recommended this hotel so I bought a date escape package for me and my honey and it was so sweet and romantic. First of all one word... ANTHONY he is so awesome! When we first got there I saw him at the front desk talking to someone who was lost and I could tell the person on the phone was very frustrating but he kept it cool and calm and so nice so I was very impressed! Then he walked us directly to our room after check in and to be completely honest I don’t think the standard rooms are very impressive or romantic but we put our stuff in the room and hit the pool! It’s so quaint and beautifully laid out. It had a Moroccan feel to it which I loved because I recently was in Marrakesh and I missed it so much! They have a beautiful cabana-like space that is open to everyone which we loved! Then when we got back to our room we realized the room was not what we expected and we called the front desk and spoke to Anthony and he was so so so sweet and generous he put us in a Casita!! And WOW! It was amazing he was so throughtful and patient with us and gave us our moneys worth! I would say if u can afford to pay a little more upgrade to the Casita it’s so worth it! It has a seating area as well as an outdoor jet hot tub that looks like a bath tub it’s amazing and romantic to be under the moonlight in an outdoor bathtub! Loved this place definitely want to come back! April is a great time to go weather wise it was warm with a little breeze so we were fully melting in the sun. This place has everything and the customer service is excellent! We did get massages but I have to admit it was one of the worst massages we both ever had and I don’t recommend using your money for it, use it to upgrade to a Casita!! Highly recommend this place for a sweet romantic getaway or just a relaxing girls wkend! Thanks Anthony for making this vacation an amazing experience that makes us want to come back and only stay at the Colony Palms!!!

We wanted to avoid a "scene" hotel, we didn't want a "chain" hotel, and we didn't want to have to stay out in Rancho, based on reviews and their website, we chose Colony Palms. We could not have been happier. CPH is an adorable, small scale boutique property with a gorgeous pool, beautiful grounds, and a lovely restaurant and bar staffed with charming people. Our junior suite was spacious, had a large walk-in shower AND a claw-foot tub, lots of closet space, a comfy king bed and a fireplace. The room was on the first level of the main building (right next to the temporary reception area), very convenient to the pool, the spa, the restaurant, the complimentary coffee service in the morning, and the parking valet. Valet parking is also complimentary, which is a nice bonus. We walked to dinner three out of the five nights we were in Palm Springs to spectacular dining (Copley's, Workshop, and Jakes), and to breakfast at Cheeky's. We chatted with the general manager one evening while we were waiting for our car, and she could not have been more gracious. Honestly, this place met or exceeded our every expectation.
