Colony Palms Hotel in Palm Springs, California

Celebrating its inaugural opening in 1936, Palm Springs' Colony Palms Hotel (originally the Colonial House) was a haven for old Hollywood and the international jet set. After careful restoration and renovation, the hotel reopened in 2007 with the bravado of a Prohibition-era speakeasy and the charm of a four-star luxury boutique hotel. With names like Purple Palm Restaurant and "Palme D'Or Residence" paying homage to the hotel's historic past and VIP visitors, the old becomes new again at Colony Palms Hotel. The hotel's 56 guestrooms and suites feature stunning mountain views, oversized bedding with custom designed Turkish Suzani headboards, and Italian linens. Plush white towels and Signature CPH bathrobes offset the cool marble countertops and oversized vanities in the bathrooms, while bath products by C.O. Bigelow create an en-suite spa atmosphere in every room. Your posh accommodations become your personal theater and entertainment center with iPod docking station, high-definition televisions and complimentary wireless Internet. At Colony Palms Hotel you are invited to pursue every pleasure with Indulgences—additional details to make your stay unique and unforgettable, including chocolate-covered strawberries, flowers, and champagne service for two upon arrival.

At the Colony Palms Hotel classic charm and contemporary elegance come together in every detail, from the oversized red-rimmed linen umbrellas surrounding the poolside lounge chairs to the croquet games set up along the property. Purple Palm Restaurant and Bar overlooks the garden and the pool, while low hanging lights and overstuffed purple cushions create a lounge-type ambiance where the menu is as timeless as the atmosphere. The Moroccan-inspired Spa at Colony Palms features four treatment rooms, a fitness center, and a professionally trained and certified staff to ensure your every moment is refined and divine. Facials for men and women, massages, salon services, and specialty treatments are available for every ache, pain, and mood, so allow yourself to be pampered. Less than two hours from Hollywood, Disneyland, and the most renowned landmarks in Southern California, the Colony Palms Hotel is ideally situated for shopping, sightseeing, and soaking up the "Golden State's" internationally acclaimed beaches. Or, if you are unsure of where to begin, the hotel's concierge happily recommends the trendiest hotspots or the quiet, intimate spaces to set the mood. At Colony Palms Hotel, Old World glitz and glamour still reign supreme, but today, you are the star.

Loved the Colony Palms! Beautiful rooms, great food and cocktails, friendly staff and super chill pool. The location was ideal. We hiked Tahquitz Canyon and Round Valley loop off the tram in the mornings. Read, swam and cocktailed in the afternoons and enjoyed Restaurant Week at night. I can't imagine a better place to stay in Palm Springs.

Very casual, laid back pool with beautiful surrounding garden. The purple palm bar and restaurant are perfectly located with stellar drinks, especially the happy hour margarita! Great dinner! All so easy and romantic!

LOVE love this place! Classy elegant retro & just fabulous. Guests can be noisy at the pool--just depends on the crowd. Let's put it this way, it always depends on the weekend, crowd, event, etc just like everywhere else I suppose. The room decor is Fab & restaurant has great food.

Stayed here for a quick trip ... hotel is clean, workers are friendly, room is clean, bed is so comfortable and AC nice. The restaurant had great food, cocktails were fantastic as well. Check in and out was fast. No adjoining rooms and no gym but still great hotel and robes super comfy!! Pool was nice and felt great in the heat and it was close to town. Would stay here again!

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights and loved every moment of our visit. The hotel oozes Spanish/Moroccon style and charm, with cobblestone paths, tucked away lounging nooks, red-tiled roofs and balconies. The grounds are lovely with jasmine and gardenia, which attract lots of hummingbirds. The pool was sparkling and just the right temp. There were plenty of chairs in the sun and sheltered from the sun. Every single staff member was professional and kind. We spent a little more and stayed in one of the casitas, which we enjoyed as it had a private outdoor area. The bed was comfortable and the decor was lovely. We had a couple breakfasts in the restaurant, which were delicious. I would recommend the fried rice with eggs and the egg white omelet. The location was perfect as you can easily walk or ride bikes into the downtown area. To sum it up, if I could build a home like this, I would!
