Colony Palms Hotel in Palm Springs, California

Celebrating its inaugural opening in 1936, Palm Springs' Colony Palms Hotel (originally the Colonial House) was a haven for old Hollywood and the international jet set. After careful restoration and renovation, the hotel reopened in 2007 with the bravado of a Prohibition-era speakeasy and the charm of a four-star luxury boutique hotel. With names like Purple Palm Restaurant and "Palme D'Or Residence" paying homage to the hotel's historic past and VIP visitors, the old becomes new again at Colony Palms Hotel. The hotel's 56 guestrooms and suites feature stunning mountain views, oversized bedding with custom designed Turkish Suzani headboards, and Italian linens. Plush white towels and Signature CPH bathrobes offset the cool marble countertops and oversized vanities in the bathrooms, while bath products by C.O. Bigelow create an en-suite spa atmosphere in every room. Your posh accommodations become your personal theater and entertainment center with iPod docking station, high-definition televisions and complimentary wireless Internet. At Colony Palms Hotel you are invited to pursue every pleasure with Indulgences—additional details to make your stay unique and unforgettable, including chocolate-covered strawberries, flowers, and champagne service for two upon arrival.

At the Colony Palms Hotel classic charm and contemporary elegance come together in every detail, from the oversized red-rimmed linen umbrellas surrounding the poolside lounge chairs to the croquet games set up along the property. Purple Palm Restaurant and Bar overlooks the garden and the pool, while low hanging lights and overstuffed purple cushions create a lounge-type ambiance where the menu is as timeless as the atmosphere. The Moroccan-inspired Spa at Colony Palms features four treatment rooms, a fitness center, and a professionally trained and certified staff to ensure your every moment is refined and divine. Facials for men and women, massages, salon services, and specialty treatments are available for every ache, pain, and mood, so allow yourself to be pampered. Less than two hours from Hollywood, Disneyland, and the most renowned landmarks in Southern California, the Colony Palms Hotel is ideally situated for shopping, sightseeing, and soaking up the "Golden State's" internationally acclaimed beaches. Or, if you are unsure of where to begin, the hotel's concierge happily recommends the trendiest hotspots or the quiet, intimate spaces to set the mood. At Colony Palms Hotel, Old World glitz and glamour still reign supreme, but today, you are the star.

Shame on us for deciding on a hotel based on a Robb Report article, but this was just terrible. First we arrive to find out the room we had paid for and had been confirmed was ACTUALLY GIVEN TO SOMEONE ELSE! That has never happened to me before, where a hotel had mistakenly given away a paid for / confirmed room. The room the gave us at nearly $650 a night was dreadful. No windows. Bad layout. And filthy (my wife would not take off her socks as the floor had so much dirt). The bed was extremely uncomfortable. Food was fine. But not great. For the most part the wait staff was pretty bad and kept us waiting long periods of time before service. Pool fine, but the outdoor area photos on website are nothing close to reality. It’s pretty mediocre and not even close worth the money. One bright spot was Stephane, the GM, who did her best to make up for the experience. Unfortunately, she could not.

The property and pool are wonderful. Valet service awesome. Brian at the bar was delightful and the food was good. We Booked a casita room with fireplace for 2 days Fireplace was disappointing had to request fuel for it which did not burn for long. Very NOISY as we backed onto a major route. Trucks motorcycle all night long. O We left our room at around 11 am and returned at 4 and our room had not been cleaned. Requested housekeeping. They were prompt but missed leaving soaps face cloths or hand towels and when requesting these items we were give 24 botlles of soap/shampoo etc. And enough bath towels for a family of 6. Still no face cloths or hand towels .... this was a very sarcastic move by the staff. No in room coffee -complimentary in the lobby. Went to get coffee but they had no cream and the restaurant was not open for an additional 15 minutes Upon checkout we requested our charges folio. They said they would be emailed within an hour. That was 3 days ago 1 phone call and 2 emails. We have still not received Watch for resort fees.

My wife and I came for our honeymoon and we couldn’t have been happier with our experience. We stayed in a casita (highly recommend) with its own wonderful patio. The grounds are lush and pleasant and the pool is even more so. The staff of the hotel and the on-site restaurant were attentive and polite. The entire hotel has a ‘private club’ feel to it. We will be back!

I have been visiting the entire Coachella Valley for many years. Past few more time in Palm Springs. One stop we always make is a drink or dinner at Colony Palms Hotel. The ambience is very special. So decided to stay three nights there. I did not have the lowest level room, but upon arrival I thought a mistake had been made as it was so small. Hard to maneuver around the room. Only place to put suitcase was in closet which is fine, but so dark I could not find anything and only two little drawers to put things in. Check about upgrading but would have been $80 more per night for nothing really bigger. Then is got better. Turned the fan on and my husband was lucky he did not get his head cut off as one of the blades flew off right by his head. Then after each shower there was an issue with the shower which made a strong sewer smell that last the rest of the day. My husband talked to the main repair man and explained the issue (husband is a contractor) but nothing was done. Yes, sweet place to look at, but would not stay again. Room #11

Colony Palms hosted my group of 48 people for four nights. THe staff was excellent and went above and beyond to take care of our group. Highly recommend for small groups. Also, would be a great place for a romantic getaway for a couple!
