Colony Palms Hotel in Palm Springs, California
Celebrating its inaugural opening in 1936, Palm Springs' Colony Palms Hotel (originally the Colonial House) was a haven for old Hollywood and the international jet set. After careful restoration and renovation, the hotel reopened in 2007 with the bravado of a Prohibition-era speakeasy and the charm of a four-star luxury boutique hotel. With names like Purple Palm Restaurant and "Palme D'Or Residence" paying homage to the hotel's historic past and VIP visitors, the old becomes new again at Colony Palms Hotel. The hotel's 56 guestrooms and suites feature stunning mountain views, oversized bedding with custom designed Turkish Suzani headboards, and Italian linens. Plush white towels and Signature CPH bathrobes offset the cool marble countertops and oversized vanities in the bathrooms, while bath products by C.O. Bigelow create an en-suite spa atmosphere in every room. Your posh accommodations become your personal theater and entertainment center with iPod docking station, high-definition televisions and complimentary wireless Internet. At Colony Palms Hotel you are invited to pursue every pleasure with Indulgences—additional details to make your stay unique and unforgettable, including chocolate-covered strawberries, flowers, and champagne service for two upon arrival.
At the Colony Palms Hotel classic charm and contemporary elegance come together in every detail, from the oversized red-rimmed linen umbrellas surrounding the poolside lounge chairs to the croquet games set up along the property. Purple Palm Restaurant and Bar overlooks the garden and the pool, while low hanging lights and overstuffed purple cushions create a lounge-type ambiance where the menu is as timeless as the atmosphere. The Moroccan-inspired Spa at Colony Palms features four treatment rooms, a fitness center, and a professionally trained and certified staff to ensure your every moment is refined and divine. Facials for men and women, massages, salon services, and specialty treatments are available for every ache, pain, and mood, so allow yourself to be pampered. Less than two hours from Hollywood, Disneyland, and the most renowned landmarks in Southern California, the Colony Palms Hotel is ideally situated for shopping, sightseeing, and soaking up the "Golden State's" internationally acclaimed beaches. Or, if you are unsure of where to begin, the hotel's concierge happily recommends the trendiest hotspots or the quiet, intimate spaces to set the mood. At Colony Palms Hotel, Old World glitz and glamour still reign supreme, but today, you are the star.

Reviews for Colony Palms Hotel
We had a fantastic stay at Colony. The rooms are clean and well equipped, the grounds are immaculate, and the staff is friendly. The hotel has a great vibe and it feels as if you're in your own world. The Purple Palm, their restaurant, is fantastic--we ate lunch there every day during our stay. The staff is attentive and routinely made rounds at the pool so our cocktail glasses never went dry. The hotel, however, was not without fault. The pool itself was dirty. I think the filter may have been broken, as it was full of dead bugs, hair, and other debris. We had to ask at least once a day to have it skimmed. Also, the hotel advertises itself as being more geared towards adults. During our stay, the kids at the pool were out of control. Screaming, splashing, etc. My fiancé and I were hoping for a quiet atmosphere to read and sip cocktails by the pool. Although these two factors detracted from our stay, the hotel does everything else so well that it still warrants five stars. We will definitely be back.

The property is beautiful. The valet was super nice and accomodating as well as the front desk. We did encounter a problem during our visit with the room keys which was not handled successfully. The person at the front desk at the time was nice but gave us two more key cards which still did not work. It required the room next doors assistance to get in our room. Also, there was no food available on the property as there was an issue in the kitchen??

we booked a Junior Suite because we like to have a place to sit and relax. Well there is only one chair so I guess we have to take turns. We arrived yesterday after a long trip. We went to the restaurant (the only restaurant on the hotel)and although was half empty they said that we have to wait 30 minutes to order because they have a small staff in the kitchen . The room excuse me Suite, extremely simple for the price. No windows. Looks Staff very nice. We are here for a weeding but if I come back I will try another hotel.

People clearly like this place, so I'm not here to bash it in anyway. Just to say that while it was very nice, clean, had good food, and the pool was great, this hotel was nowhere near worth the $600+ a night that they charged. If you're looking for a unique luxury experience I would look elsewhere and keep this place as a fallback option.

The hotel has a great vibe--timeless chic, classic, and comfortable. Quiet, mostly adults, great pool and restaurant. Dogs are welcome and appreciated by the awesome staff! On one weekend trip we were quite happy having never left the property!
