4 day break. Do not be put off by petty negative comments about this great hotel. You pay for what you get and you certainly get the stunning sea and Cathedral views. My wife and I stayed in Room 118 and found the service throughout the hotel by all staff first class.

The staff at the reception desk and around are very helpful and friendly. When we arrived we were offered a glass of casa, a nice touch. The lobby, restaurant and bar areas are very nice, but the rooms are just average. Nothing special and no better than 4 star hotels that I have stayed at. They need some updating. One issue was that the toilet in the bathroom is immediately behind the door so if someone trys to enter you may get hit in the head with the door. The aesthetics from the exterior on the promenade side looks more like a 3-4 star hotel. It really needs some work on the exterior to make it look more elegant. Pool area is nice, but again not great. Decent location, about 25 minutes from the city center/old town. It's okay a as long as you enjoy walking and we do. Beautiful views of the harbor!

Upon arriving at the hotel there was a queue, we were however given a glass of cava whilst we waited. The receptionist called us over but never greeted us to the hotel or made eye contact...we are not used to this! We then had a 3 hour wait for our room which was ok as a lot of hotels have a 3 pm check in. The staff in the restaurant were extremely friendly especially in the evening although we didn't think the choice of food was that great for a 5 star hotel. The wine list has been dumbed down since our stay 2 years ago. We paid extra for the superb view over the harbour. The area behind the hotel has deteriorated since our last visit ,and it wasn't great before. but this is obviously not the hotels fault. I would not venture out at night through the hotels main door. Although the walk along the promenade makes up for this. A nice walk into Palma takes about 20 minutes passing a couple of really nice bars along the quay. I would return again so this is the real test of the hotel.

This hotel has singlehandedly ruined our 3 day stay in Palma de Mallorca. I'm not sure there was a single thing handled correctly at any point during our stay. I write this review as I lay awake at 4:15AM from the droning of the in room central air that sounds like an old school alarm clock that has droned on all night. (Seriously, it's so loud that when it woke me up last night, I thought it was a fire alarm in the hallway and got out of bed to check the hall to see if there was actually a fire alarm sounding off.) And this is not even the tip of the iceberg. If I am writing a review like this, there have been serious issues. I am not a complainer and I had absolutely no issues during our 3 night stay in Ibiza on Jet Beach where loud music and jets are the norm all night and day. Day 1: The first night we checked in, late afternoon, our room we had was placed directly underneath the hotel's patio where they have a bar and many tables. We noticed before we went out for the afternoon that it sounded like they were moving furniture around and getting ready for a wedding above us. We went and explored for a few hours and came back before dinner. the constant loud moving sounds had not abated, and live music started playing which was very audible. My girlfriend called the front desk to see what was going on and when the music would stop for the night. Thats when we learned that the patio with the bar was right above us and that the music would stop playing at 11PM. We were offered to be moved to a different room but mind you this was after we had unpacked, it was late in the day, and had dinner reservations to get to. We figured the music would stop by the time we got back. My girlfriend requested a bottle of cava or some kind of gesture for the inconvenience which is standard protocol at any 5 star hotel I have been to- the request was denied. After dinner, the music still went on until after 1AM and the chairs kept being dragged across the room's ceiling. The next morning we awoke at 7:30AM to the breakfast crowd dragging the chairs across the room's ceiling and requested to be moved immediately. Day 2: The second room we were placed into was much quieter but had a broken safe and the wifi does not work from the bed. We have to sit on the floor in the entranceway into the room to check into our flights and for my girlfriend to send her best friend an engagement present. I kid you not, we picked up the hotel's wifi at a restaurant a block away from the hotel and we cannot get internet from the bed in our room. Before heading out for dinner we stopped at the concierge/check in and requested a good place for tapas in the center of the city. We received the recommendation and then proceeded to voice our dissatisfaction with our stay so far at a supposed 5 star hotel. We were still frustrated that there was no little as even an apology for our stay the first night and the level of service experienced, and that we were not taken seriously. The concierge stated that we are the only people that have complained about the room in question and that in fact, someone else was occupying the room right now! Concierge ends by asking if we would like to speak with guest services and he says they will follow up. We went to dinner which was very sub par- a poor recommendation from the concierge we spoke with, but not something we would place responsibility on the hotel for. Upon our return we spoke with another concierge about booking a boat tour for day 3 which we were excited about. The concierge said the morning crew would call at 8:30AM to inform us about the 10AM cruise. Morning comes and we wake up at 9:30AM to no call from concierge about the cruise. We call down and the concierge says they received no message from last night's shift- my girlfriend pushes further and the concierge states oh yes we did get a message from last night's shift but I'm busy checking people in and cannot help you. Our day 3 plans are not off to a good start. My girlfriend calls back and asks to speak with a manager. She receives push back from the front desk and finally gets a manager on duty to call us back. We meet the manager and voice our frustrations so far (less the AC noise as I do not want to pack again). We are asked if we would like to have access to their Red Line lounge and concierge (I guess they have some higher priority service) for the day and a complimentary bottle of cava sent to the room later. We decline on the lounge access as we want to go out and check out the city, but they sorted out a later boat for us and dinner reservations at a restaurant we wanted to try. By the way the manager's excuse for the concierge not calling us in the morning about the boat was that they didn't have permission to call us at 8:30AM which was not the truth. The cava came which was nice, however it was a €6 bottle. We received pushback on our first night over a €6 bottle and it took complaining to the hotel manager to get any level of consideration for our experience here. Finally, we requested a wakeup call for 5:00AM for the flight we switched to the first flight we could get out due to our negative experiences at the hotel. It is now 5:25AM and still no call. I guess the noisy air conditioning unit was a blessing in disguise. Also, this review does not even bring into account the lower level floors of the hotel that legitimately smell like raw sewage and the hotel covers the smell with a cheap perfume. The staff was arrogant, the stay was the low point of our 10 day vacation. It is a pity that our experience in Mallorca was overshadowed by Gran Melia Victoria.

We spent a long weekend here from 11/5 to 14/5 and it was a total pleasure. Staff were efficient and friendly. The hotel was comfortable and luxurious and the pool terrace was gorgeous. All the extra touches were greatly appreciated. We did think the breakfast was overpriced.
