Reviews for Gran Melia Victoria

Personally I would rate this a hotel 4 star

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 hours ago

The Grand Meliá Victoria has some genuinely stunning elements, but overall we felt it fell short of the 5-star experience we were expecting. The positives first: the lobby is beautiful, the pool area is lovely, breakfast was excellent, and the staff were warm, helpful and a real credit to the hotel. The marina views are absolutely stunning. However, there were several things that really let the experience down. The corridors leading to our room were very tired, with carpets that were heavily stained and grubby looking. First impressions matter, and this immediately didn’t feel like 5-star quality. We had originally booked a church view room, but on arrival felt it didn’t meet expectations, so asked about moving. We were offered an alternative for an additional £150 for 4 nights, but whilst the room itself was nicer, the balcony overlooked building works, so we declined. We then chose to upgrade for an extra £300 to a marina view room. That said, the room itself still didn’t quite feel 5-star. The drawer housing the tea and coffee facilities was broken and collapsed every time it was opened. We reported this on day one, but it was never fixed during our 4-night stay. The door stopper had also come away completely, leaving a nail sticking up from the floor, and we actually ended up reattaching it ourselves. The view looking out from our balcony was amazing and definitely 5 star worthy. None of these things ruined our trip, and we did enjoy our stay, but for the price point and 5-star branding, the maintenance and room standards simply didn’t match expectations. If you book this hotel thinking of it as a very nice 4-star with fabulous staff, excellent breakfast, and a spectacular marina location, you’ll likely have a much better expectation of the experience.

Great Hotel

We booked The Victoria primarily for the location, walking distance to Palma City centre. On arrival we were not disappointed. All what you expect from a 5 star hotel and more. Exceptional staff all very helpful. We look forward to our return

We came here 15 years ago & the hotel hadn’t changed much but lovely This time we enjoyed the Red Level experience & our room was on the 8th floor with brilliant Cathedral views! The room was lovely & cleaned every day with new towels The amenities were great a decent hairdryer & straighteners fab shower too! The Red Level breakfast was a choice from the usual buffet or you are given a menu to choose other options plus a Includes drinks all day & snacks Staff very helpful (great cosmopolitan) Pool area clean plenty of beds & towels Yes it’s a walk in to Palma but we enjoyed that walk every day We will definitely be returning next year if not sooner!

3 night trip

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Just returned from a fabulous 3 night trip. The hotels location is a very pleasant 25min walk to cathedral and old town. We stayed on the 8th floor part of the red level package, which we would thoroughly recommend. Alcohol and soft drinks available all day along with cakes and tapas served once a day. Our room had amazing views of cathedral and marina. All members of hotel team were friendly, welcoming and efficient, special thanks go to Carlos and Cinzia who were always so helpful and attentive. We will definitely stay at this lovely hotel again .

Fabulous hotel

We stayed for a 3 night city break to do some sightseeing. As soon as you pull up at the hotel you get a lovely welcome from the staff. The Reception area is very impressive. Check in was quick and efficient. We had a red level supreme room with views of the marina and the cathedral. The room didn’t disappoint, very clean and comfortable, and lots of little extras provided to make it feel special. Comfy chairs on the balcony to sit and watch the sunset over the marina. I didn’t like the glass wall to the bathroom, but that’s my personal preference, and at least there is small curtain to pull over it and the toilet wall wasn’t see through! A couple of very small criticisms, no shower cap provided and there is nowhere with a shelf AND a mirror to dry your hair in front of. Not a big deal though. My husband used the gym a couple of times and said it was very clean with high quality machines. Breakfast was very good, waiter service and/or self service buffet with eggs cooked to order. Lots to choose from and everything was good quality. All of the staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful. We didn’t use any of the other red level benefits so can’t comment on them but definitely worth upgrading. We’d return here, but next time when it’s warmer and we can use the pool. It’s a good base for sightseeing. The hop on hop off bus stops very close to the hotel, it’s easy to get taxis and it’s a pleasant walk along the marina to the cathedral and old town.
