Paradise - Book it!

I don’t have a single fault. This is without a doubt the best place I have ever stayed. Whether you go solo, as a couple, with a friend, with a group, with family, kids of any age, this place is perfect. I have joined trip advisor to purely review this hotel and the staff: Island: Beautiful, safe, small, quiet even when “full” (manager stated the hotel was at 80% capacity) it felt perfectly quiet when needed but also had life in the restaurants. Never had to scramble for a subbed at either the pool or beach. You travel round the island either by foot, or by “shuttle service” where you use a phone to request a shuttle and they arrive in minutes (- great experience and so easy). There is beautiful wildlife on the island, monkeys, birds, lizards, flying foxes, fish etc (we saw no monkeys as we stayed in the sea villas). Everywhere on this island is stunning, the beach is gorgeous and peaceful, you can swim happily in the sea as normal, the sand is lovely, the beds are lovely, it’s tranquil and scenic. The pool is again stunning, infinity style makes for amazing photos and you look out on to the opposite side of the island. There’s excursions to partake in with ease. Not a single fault. Staff: Made our trip so amazing. The staff were so lovely, helpful, personable, formed lovely relationships with guests. They were gentle and kind people who tried genuinely in every way to make your trip as relaxing as possible. They go above and beyond. I can’t praise them enough, the team there are next level. Rooms: Sea Villa - From our experience, amazing. The room is quite small but for 2, you need no bigger. It’s clean (they clean twice daily), it’s comfy, it’s private, secure, beautiful views, no bugs at all, fan+aircon, bathroom is amazing, balcony is amazing. If any fault here, the pillows are slightly uncomfortable, but not enough to put anyone off, and the air-con isn’t overly powerful, but again wasn’t sweating at night as it cools eventually but slowly. From speaking to other guests, the hilltop villas are equally as lovely but here you see monkeys (not a bad thing, they’re fine) Spa: Wow, we went 3 times. We had the “Chinese Day” massage which was our first experience, you start with a consultation where you determine the best treatments for you. Then, as you do with every treatment, enter through the bathhouse which is such a relaxing experience with washing, bathing in pools, foot soak, ginger tea, it’s lovely. I also had the “Malay massage” and the “Balinese massage” both incredible. Again, the staff here make you feel so comfortable and relaxed, they go above and beyond to make sure you’re as relaxed as possible. Food: Incredible - and that’s from a foodie. Where there is no other option but to eat from the hotel’s restaurants, pool bars, beach bars, special evening dining experiences (as you are on the private island) all meals, breakfast lunch and dinner where incredible. Sometimes you worry that on an “all inclusive” / board-style trip you have no choice if the food is “meh” but the food genuinely is wow. We ate at the breakfast buffet, uncle lims, omakase/teppenyaki the beach bar, fisherman’s cove, dinner on the rock, evening buffet/set menu. It’s all great, it’s great for money too which is so surprising. The quality of meat, fish and preparation is great. I’ve had “up there with the best” meals I’ve ever had here which made the trip so much more relaxing and enjoyable! There’s also food for all, so pizza, burgers, steaks, chicken, rice, sandwiches and wraps, small portions, big portions, huge portions, 10 courses. Final thoughts and tips: Hotel was beyond amazing, you feel like you’re in your own little paradise. Raving reviews of “this is the nicest place we’ve stayed” from all friendly guests from all walks of life. Staff made the trip they really deserve all the credit they get. Such a clean, picturesque (from all angles) relaxing place. So much to do and see. If you’re umming and arring, book it !!! It’s incredible. - Arrange travel from KL to Pangkor Laut Marina, we did this through Pangkor Laut Resort. - Stay for as long as your £ allows, you’ll wish you’d booked for longer. - Definitely do a spa experience, but be prepared to strip off and put a sarong on, it’s part of it, no need to arrive in any state/clothing, you’ll shower and change and shower again before your treatment. - Book the special dining experiences, go for one of them, the staff really go out their way to make this amazing, definitely worth it! - As a smoker, don’t worry you can smoke anywhere (outside, obviously. But ashtrays available anywhere on request) - Mozzy spray! Not terrible, but if you sit at the beach at night then expect it. - All cash and card friendly, we put everything on the room and paid at the end. - Make the most of the laundry service. We washed our travel clothes for roughly £10. Washed and returned next day. - Use the shuttle service, the roads/ access to the opposite side of the island is short, but hilly, it’s a free service and pick up whenever you want at the drop of a call. Enjoy. I will definitely be returning in the future, when I get the chance. Without a doubt. Sophie

The stand out of our stay was the amazing service and hospitality. All the Staff were warm and welcoming and always had a smile. Special thank you to Segar and Vijay for being so attentive and kind, and Kaliamai who made the best food imaginable. Her food was the best Indian I have had in a long time …reminded me of grandma’s cooking from the ❤️ ❤️❤️

The most beautiful resort - hillside villa was amazing - staff incredible - monkeys outside the villa every morning - wild pigs on the beach - tranquility at its finest a real memory for life. Gym is decent - Chinese restaurant excellent - little pricey when your there but we took our own drinks for the villa - sensational place for a getaway.

Probably the most disappointing welcome and departure reception by a resort ever..

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

This is my 2nd visit to Pangkor Laut resort. The first being more than decades ago when I was still a teenager. I can only summarise up my stay as one of the most utterly disappointing luxury hotel stay I ever had. On the jetty, we had a warm welcome by the reception there. The boat ride was nice and smooth. However upon arrival to the island, we descended into chaos. We were whisked away to the library. While noticing some staffs only focused on playing with their mobile phones hiding behind the two giant lamps next to the reception. It didn't seem like they are understaffed however the briefing started by Jeff as one group, and mid way through they rope in another group and the briefing interrupted by roping in another group. No welcome drinks. No warm greetings about getting to know us. Just rushing through to finish a scripted briefing. After identified who we are, we are known only by our "room number". We are just a serial number to the front desk team. We didn't had a chance to even ask any questions about our stay. We were handed over to Cila to be brought to our room. Again it was done in a group of three by one person. As my wife was pregnant and it was a blazing hot afternoon, we requested for a shuttle but he ignored me. I repeated and he just smile. We had to walk all the way to our sea villa while making my wife make a detour to drop off other guests at their villa under the hot sun. Cila just passed us our room key at the junction to the room and didn't bother to even show us our room. Upon checking in, the room was dusty as we can see dust floating under the sun's ray. We had to ask for room service to come clean our room. After cleaning the room was slightly better but the bathtub still had some dirt. There was also a leak from the ceiling in the bathroom where we suspect is from the water tank or pipe on the roof. (It didn't rain during our time there). The only redeeming part of our stay is the fisherman's cove which is of 5 star service and quality. The restaurant is a must visit or would I say the only thing worth the price on this island. Robin has been exceptionally good service. Mizan and Chan was great and attentive. Darwin did drop by to greet us on our first night there. The shuttle service is also infrequent. During our check in briefing, they mentioned every 15 minutes but we experienced at one point that we waited for more than 30 minutes. This is despite calling and making the arrangement for the pickup with the front desk. The drivers are diligent and friendly. The resort likely need to rebook at the shuttling system for improvement. During checking out, is probably the most horrendous part of our stay. I was initially attended by Dian. However while speaking with her half way she just bolted away without excusing herself and I was handed over to Herbert. I find it very rude for front desk person to walk way with excusing yourself. She seemed unhappy and just walked away. After making payment, I asked about the arrangement for the ferry and was asked to sit and wait by Herbert. As I saw guest making their way to the dock, I asked Ben only to find out that we should have already been at the dock verifying our bags for departure. My pregnant wife and I had to rush to the dock in a hurry. I would have given zero stars if it is an option. I had never experienced such horrendous service even at a four star hotel before. Let alone a five star luxury hotel. Our stay is nothing but disappointment. The front desk is first and last impression every guests experienced. And I had never felt so disappointing for any of my luxury hotel stays before. Credit must be given where credit is due. The maintenance staff are diligent in keeping the exterior beautiful. Most service staff are friendly and greet us. But the front desk people seems like a bunch with attitude problems. They seem to just want to hide behind their two giant lamps to play with their phones instead of serving guests. I felt zero passion and they don't seem to have an ounce of care. Unfortunately this is a place I find hard to recommend anyone to visit.

From the moment we arrived we felt so welcome. The resort was well maintained. The staff could not do enough for you. This was every single member of staff from the shuttle drivers to the cleaners to the waiters to the guides. The rooms were spacious clean and had amazing views. The food was 5 star in all restaurants. The beach was well maintained with plenty of sunbeds. The pool was beautiful overlooking the sea and large enough to swim in. We hope to return and would like to thank everyone for an amazing time.
