From the moment we arrived, Pangkor Laut Resort greeted us with stunning views of the crystal-clear waters and the lush tropical forest. The staff at the resort deserves every bit of praise. They were attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was nothing short of magical. Every meal was a delight, showcasing local flavors and fresh ingredients. Our days were filled with relaxation and endless laughter. I traveled with friends and we all agree that it was a perfect getaway. Thank you!

It’s just over a month since we returned from Pangkor Laut Resort, a gem off the Malaysian west coast. We had been staying in KL so had a 4-hour taxi ride to get there but how it flew by as we had a wonderful driver, Chandra from Destination Asia who gave us the best history lesson on Malaysia ever whilst driving up the excellent road with greenery all around. We arrived at the marina to find a comfortable reception where we checked in with free drinks and so the holiday began. A short 15-minute boat ride around the bottom of Pangkor Island brings you to the island resort. With a warm welcome we were swiftly taken to our hilltop villa (356) which was just as we had expected, and more, especially as there was a lift! We had stayed at one of YTL’s other venues Gaya Island in 2019 with similar accommodation and it felt nicely familiar. During our stay we encountered lots of wildlife. Monkeys outside the door, Hornbills joining us for lunch, Wild Boar in the forest, Geckos at night and turtles at the Conservation Centre. Arif , who runs the nature walks and tours, has become a focal point for injured turtles found by locals. With limited resources he is nurturing many back to health and is happy to explain how the turtles become injured and what is needed to return them to the wild. They plan to develop this further which is admirable but it’s a shame it is needed in the first place. In addition, we found the snorkelling better than we had been led to believe. First 2 days it was poor visibility in Emerald Bay (one of the prettiest, unspoilt beaches around). After that we went snorkelling twice a day and although the range of fish was limited there were plenty of them and good news, the coral (which they are harvesting in the other bay) is still growing. Just mind the spikey sea urchins… The other highlight was the food. With a choice of 5 venues the variety was unbelievable. The focus was on Malay food which is a mix of all that is good in Asia. The buffet restaurant was great for breakfast (curry and spicy delights), plus speciality evenings but our favourites were Chapmans, on the beach at Emerald Bay and Fisherman’s Cove, which was fine dining equal to the best around. All included, at no supplement, with Wagyu beef on the menu! Star of the show was undoubtedly the staff. Too many to mention but a “Good Luck” to Arif and his work with the turtles and to our dear friend Ramesh, the resort manager. Friend because all those years ago we met him at Gaya Island, and within hours of us arriving at PL who do we see but Ramesh, who had taken over only a couple of days before. Hopefully we made his first week a bit easier! He and his staff made the holiday the delight that it was and certainly made us want to return for more one day. Much of the above you can see in the images or on our YouTube channel Chappers56 including how good the snorkelling was.

Hidden gem in the jungle

Places like this deserve a massive shoutout. I´ve been all over the world, I´ve seen places that dissapointed me and places that suprised me. Pangkor Laut Resort definitelly suprised me a lot. Emerald Bay is just one of the best Malaysia beaches, no lies. Tell me where else you have white sand turquoise water mixed with the sound of the jungle. If you have a chance, go for Garden Villa or Beach Villa, those are the best - convinient location. The nature in Pangkor Laut is pure bliss. Go for it, its so worth it. Rooms have a bit old interior but they are going to be refurbished soon in 2024. I loved to stay in Pangkor Laut Resort. If you are looking for peaceful holidays, this is the place.

Thanks Pangkor Laut Resort for the wonderful reception and the exceptional hospitality provided to us. We truly had an amazing stay here especially with the more private and secluded area provided at the Spa Villa. A special thanks and shoutout to Mr. Segar, Mr. Robin and Ms. Tini for their overwhelming reception and hospitality! 5/5 stars given to this Resort, management and all the staffs.
