We had an excellent week at the Annabelle over the Christmas period. The staff were very kind and helpful, despite the fact that the hotel was to close shortly for a major refurbishment. We had a garden suite - lots of space, scrupulously clean, very quiet and ideal for people who just want to relax. Three on site restaurants - we tried them all. The Fontana buffet restaurant offered very good range and quality of options, the Amorosa restaurant (optional a la carte for an extra 10 Euro per person) was excellent - exquisite food on all three occasions we dined there. We did try the less formal Mediterraneo restaurant, but were not overly impressed with the offerings there. Entertainment was also very good - lots of live singers and instrumentalists, not too noisy. On site car parking available, but it did get busy in the evenings. Would we go back? Yes, very definitely!

My partner and I booked the Annabelle as we wanted to stay somewhere special when we were getting married. The hotel was beautiful! Choice of swimming pools were fantastic....we were in the lazy rivers for the 2 weeks so peaceful. Food was good as well...i loved international night the nachos were unreal. We were able to use the Alymra hotel's facilities as it's the sister hotel to the Annabelle which was a bonus. We are hoping we can come back to this hotel one year for our anniversary!

All personnel at the Annabelle were most helpful.and it would be wrong to single any one person out. The hotel was spotless, despite the fact they were preparing for renovations on a major scale. The food was excellent and varied every day.Entertainment over Xmas and New Year was very good and not over powering. You were treated with respect from the moment you arrived and nothing was too much trouble.

We travelled as 2 couples from 21st December 2017 until January 4th 2018. Before travelling we were informed that renovations would start on January 4th, 2018. They had started before we arrived and the work intensified throughout our stay. I'm sorry, but a bottle of questionable wine and a bowl of fruit does not compensate for the disappointment we had on this trip. We arrived home more stressed than we were before we went. This hotel should have been closed for the level of "refurbishment" being undertaken. Doors had to be taken off because they wouldn't work due to the fabric of the building being affected by the drilling. Not only that, but many customers were moved because their rooms were flooded because the roof was being drilled out to accommodate a rooftop pool. On New Year's Eve the room everyone was celebrating in had significant leaks from the roof too. As people left the hotel after their holidays, their rooms were stripped out and the furniture piled in the corridors until moved to storage. The staff did a brilliant job trying to keep everyone buoyant, but without them the management would probably have been lynched. It was a miserable experience which won't be repeated.

The only good thing about this hotel are the staff, who are all wonderful including the lovely bubbly Megan, Georgiou and Attila from the lounge bar as were all the staff too, we were on full board for 12 nights and the food was varied & very good too, the lobby bar and gardens are very nice so that I would give 4*. THE BAD, the rooms are small but o.k. the beds are big but the mattress are smaller leaving us to have to put hand towels on each corner as we both kept on catching our shin's this must be a common factor as the maids replaced them every time they made our bed, but the bathrooms are dated worthy of 3* only, old shower fittings stiff to switch on and having travelled all over the world have never come across a bidet with no bidet towel or towel ring so your supposed to use your hand towel, lovely !!, the toilet was slightly stained from the water only, over time & needs replacing, My biggest grudge was being informed that I had to pay £4-50 for a small bucket of ice in 44 years of world travel I have never been charged for ice, it is not the cost but the principal & I wanted to speak with guest relations but was not available, so the lovely young receptionist promised to inform the manager as all staff agreed no charge for ice, I informed her on principal that if no reply I would take my purchases outside the hotel as every other guest informed me that is what they are all are doing I could not get an ice bucket from the bar as they informed me they were limited in ice space but I could get ice sent to my room at no charge, because no one came back to me I stopped buying the overpriced wine an inflated price of £31-00 a bottle & the pre & post drinks in the lounge which was always empty only some elderly people reading but no drinks, the cost lost to the hotel averaged £100-00 a day as wine with lunch & dinner £62-00 pre & post drinks £25-00 & any other drinks after, plus sparkling water at £4-50 per ltr bottle. The best of all I got a call from guest relations the night before leaving informing us no ice charge !!, too late my total spend for 12 days at the hotel was only £250-00. THE UGLY, We knew work was to start on the 4th January as to their website new rooftop swimming pool & Spa, but what we did not know until we arrived that the work had already commenced before we arrived, so it was a building site from day one, scaffolding all over, builders drilling and disc cutting with heavy machines removing balcony's and the roof, so when it rained as it did we had water leaking everywhere all over the hotel lobby, reception desk, towels and wet floor signs some guests had to be moved twice from their rooms and we also had rusty water leaking through our roof in hallway lights & extractor fan in bathroom !!, lucky for us it was our last night so refused room move but moved all clothing from wardrobe as in same spot as hallway and cleaners & maintenance dealt with the mess. they had to close the new years eve special dinner room due to floods which we were told was full so we asked to be put on the cancellation list this incurred an extra charge not a problem with that, but then informed by guests that it had now taken place in the Fontana restaurant which housed approx 200 this was the main guest buffet for all meals so why not inform those guests who wanted to pay the extra as there was ample room for more ??. We were taken out of the hotel one day to the two local winery's to avoid the worst day of noise. So Mr operations Manager when you tell us about the white wine that we were tasting and that this wine is best served chilled & I purchased two bottles, please inform your guests that the wine at £5-00 the one you charge at £26-00 it also cost you £4-50 to chill in ice. If you suffer from cat hairs do not use this hotel, the cats are everywhere all the sun bed mattress's are covered in cat hair, they sit by your table crying for food and in my case jumped onto my lap to snatch food from my plate and they are big too, the waiter informed me that one cat was 8 kilo's in weight. This was and the hotel knew this our special holiday, Forty years married and my wife's 60th birthday, but the good thing was that we found two particular restaurants one minute from the hotel, which was full of locals plenty of cheer & a fabulous red cabernet 14% for £16-00 & outdoor seating with heaters overlooking the Christmas tree & decorations along the promenade, the owner came out to see that we were ok every evening & as the Cabernet ran out offered us wine from the same winery in Shizas or Merlot and would open up a new bottle of each for us to try until we found a similar wine under no obligation. I now know why the lobby bar is always empty except for the few elderly people who would not go out at night, and not surprised to hear from regulars that they would not be returning next year. Quote I received when asked why we were not informed of building work, the builders did not tell us that they were starting !!! where is the Management ??, who should have stopped this work straight away, it was our Christmas & New year holiday. Thanos never again !!
