The Hotel du Collectionneur in Paris, France

Three garden terraces – a rare amount of green space in central Paris – turn Hotel du Collectionneur into an oasis just north of the Champs-Elysees. The hotel's glamorous Art Deco style is inspired by transatlantic cruise liners of the 1930s – green marble, antiques and elaborate period prints adorn the hallways, and top floor rooms have small balconies from which to behold the city below. Sip on absinthe in an alcove at the glitzy Purple Bar, watching life go by on rue de Courcelles.

Enjoy a croissant and coffee in the courtyard among fountains, cypress hedges, rosebushes and palm trees. Boutique-hop along the Champs-Elysées and browse the permanent collection at the Petit Palais. Relax in the spa's Oriental Steam Room after a Carita anti-aging facial. End the day with sphère de saumon fume served on the plant-walled terrace.

First impressions of this hotel was WOW! This was the last 2 days of our APT 21 day river cruise and every thing had been way beyond our expectations, so we didn't think this would be any different. What a disappointment! - No water in the room, ordered steak and potatoes with a side salad and ice-cream from room service as we were too tired to go looking for somewhere to eat after our bus journey from Amsterdam and it was Sunday night. Our meal arrived, had to pay cash as apparently the form we had filled in with our credit card details and given to our tour director wasn't acceptable, even though it was the hotel's form. The meal for 2 people cost 94 euros and consisted of a piece of steak on a plate, a bowl of lettuce and an ice-cream tub (that you would buy at the shop) each. That was the second disappointment after no drinking water in the room. Had trouble sleeping due to outside noise most of the night.Had to ask to have our room made up next day before we went out. Came back to find no extra toilet roll had been left. Our tour guide had to speak to the hotel as all 24 people from the tour were not happy. Came back that afternoon to find 4 bottles of water and 4 rolls of toilet paper in the room. What a disappointing end to a wonderful holiday.

Our stay at the Hotel du Collectionneur was superb. The hotel is in an excellent location, just around the corner from the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs Elysee. The staff were attentive and helpful, the food was excellent and our room was stunning!

I stayed at l'hotel du Collectionneur for 6 days in May. The ambiance, service and food were excellent, as was the location within walking distance of the Champs-Elysee, Arc de Triomphe, and many great shops and cafes. Parc Monceau located just a few steps away from the hotel provided a beautiful and serene natural setting for evening strolls following busy days of sightseeing.

The hotel is gorgeous and the service is top notch. Nice quiet location but not far from the good stuff. The continental breakfast in hotel's cozy bar was fabulous. The hotel is Art Deco style -- beautiful.
