The Hotel du Collectionneur in Paris, France

Three garden terraces – a rare amount of green space in central Paris – turn Hotel du Collectionneur into an oasis just north of the Champs-Elysees. The hotel's glamorous Art Deco style is inspired by transatlantic cruise liners of the 1930s – green marble, antiques and elaborate period prints adorn the hallways, and top floor rooms have small balconies from which to behold the city below. Sip on absinthe in an alcove at the glitzy Purple Bar, watching life go by on rue de Courcelles.

Enjoy a croissant and coffee in the courtyard among fountains, cypress hedges, rosebushes and palm trees. Boutique-hop along the Champs-Elysées and browse the permanent collection at the Petit Palais. Relax in the spa's Oriental Steam Room after a Carita anti-aging facial. End the day with sphère de saumon fume served on the plant-walled terrace.

We have stayed here many times since its opening as a Hilton in 2004 on our once or twice yearly trips to Paris. This year we stayed for two weeks. In our view this hotel is excellent in all respects especially the staff.

Hotel is in vicinity of Arc de Triomphe and about a 5 minute walk from Champs Elysees. We are family of 4 and stayed in an very nice 2 room suite which gave us access to the Executive Lounge (open 7 AM to 11 PM) which serves snack meals (we used mostly for breakfast though also had some light snacks in the late afternoon with tea) and full bar at times. Hotel also has a very nice spa area with hot tub and steam room and workout room. Staff are very friendly.

The Hotel du Collectionneur has applied Art Deco elegance and style to a large hotel in the centre of Paris. Public areas and bar are stylish, the bar has 6 person booths along the window providing perfect venue for informal dining with friends or colleagues. The bedrooms are comfortable and continue the Art Deco style, the only downside is a lack of plug sockets for the mandatory charging of devices overnight. Wifi throughout at good speed and consistent signal. Overall good location for Paris.

Overnighted here before setting out on a river cruise. A lovely hotel with good facilities. It has everything you expect in a four star hotel - a well equiped room, a great bed, a good if expensive bar and great breakfast (in the American mode). Service at check in was efficient and friendly (Agathe) and our bags delivered quickly. A drink in the Purple Bar relaxing in a window booth. A little on the expensive side but nice. Overall a lovely experience.
