The Hotel du Collectionneur in Paris, France

Three garden terraces turn the Hotel du Collectionneur into an oasis just north of the Champs-Elysees. The hotel's glamorous Art Deco style is inspired by transatlantic cruise liners of the 1930s – green marble, antiques and elaborate period prints adorn the hallways, and top floor rooms have small balconies from which to behold the city below. Sip on absinthe in an alcove at the glitzy Purple Bar, watching life go by on Rue de Courcelles.

Enjoy a croissant and coffee in the courtyard among fountains, cypress hedges, rosebushes and palm trees. Boutique-hop along the Champs-Elysées and browse the permanent collection at the Petit Palais. Relax in the spa's Oriental Steam Room after a Carita anti-aging facial. End the day with sphčre de saumon fume served on the plant-walled terrace. The utopia of a Parisian vacation lies within the grounds of the Hotel du Collectionneur.

There’s a huge choice of higher end hotels to stay at in central Paris and this one is excellent. If you arrive before your check in time you can still wait for your room whilst enjoying the facilities in the spa and even breakfast in the executive lounge. The room was well appointed and had a lovely view of the courtyard. Located around 10 mins and an 8 Euro taxi ride from the Eiffel Tower, the location was ideal. The taxi from the airport cost a flat 50 Euros. Staff were very pleasant and were obviously trying their best to be accommodating so I would recommend.

I have stayed with you 4 years ago and I had a fantastic time. One of the highlights on our previous stay was the breakfast. this time however it was horrendous. We were led into meeting rooms, not seated, and told to help ourselves to the food in the corridor. It was dreadful. The staff didn't know what was going on and trying to serve ourselves in the extremely busy corridor was appalling. Hundreds of people milling about up and down the narrow corridor.€40 per person for the privilege too. Also, the price of food and drink in the Purple Bar was shocking, even by Paris and 5 star standards. Three beers, Three Gins and a club sandwich €144........Woo, this is way too expensive, not only that but at the bottom of the receipt there was a line to enter a tip. I only realized the next day when I showed a french friend of mine the receipt that the hotel had already added a service charge. All of the staff were extremely friendly but obviously not empowered to deal with complaints. When I complained at reception I was told that I was not the first person to complain and that we are sorry. But that was that.....

This is a very traditional and old fashioned Parisian hotel. It is in a good location a short walk from the Arc de Triumph. We stayed in a standard room at the back of the hotel.....it was comfortable but small. The bar is expensive...two gin and tonic cost €40 and a small beer €13. I felt the hotel is overpriced and there are better hotels in Paris for less money.

Usually the title of this review is seen as a positive - and the pictures on the website for the hotel - really do give the impression of chic / 1930’s elegant Art Deco..........but the reality is somewhat different Of course it could be a style preference thing - I tend to like modern / white / cool - but I can appreciate Art Deco and opulence and elegance It’s just those characteristics can’t be applied here......it’s all a trick of the photographer’s eye and the editing I booked a deluxe room with garden view I was checked in early (which was a positive start) and went to the 7th floor - “executive level”.........if you don’t like brown / burgundy / gold - don’t stay here Entered the room........crash........disappointment bomb Small room / small bathroom - the door practically hits the sink and the toilet and there’s a “balcony” (big word only) No garden view / poor decor / little technology etc etc I was told, when I had a word with front desk, that my room at check was upgraded (wasn’t told at check in!)......so I lost my garden view (which is nice , even if snow covered) and supposedly got a bigger room “with a shower” .......apparently the deluxe room doesn’t have a shower!!!!! The vista of the hotel outside shouts dramatic and elegance and quality - but the inside is poorly appointed / little attention to detail and just old/tired and needs a facelift Breakfast (not inc) at €40 per person was poor - little taste - even the freshly made omelet was bad......it’s not difficult to make an omelet taste good - even I can Ingredients - cheeses / meats / breads / juices - just shouted, we’re cheap quality - but enjoy! Didn’t even try the bar or the spa.......... Only good thing for us - location - close to Fauborg Saint Honore / AV Montaigne etc etc But certainly won’t be coming back!!!!!! Poor
