The Hotel du Collectionneur in Paris, France

Three garden terraces – a rare amount of green space in central Paris – turn Hotel du Collectionneur into an oasis just north of the Champs-Elysees. The hotel's glamorous Art Deco style is inspired by transatlantic cruise liners of the 1930s – green marble, antiques and elaborate period prints adorn the hallways, and top floor rooms have small balconies from which to behold the city below. Sip on absinthe in an alcove at the glitzy Purple Bar, watching life go by on rue de Courcelles.

Enjoy a croissant and coffee in the courtyard among fountains, cypress hedges, rosebushes and palm trees. Boutique-hop along the Champs-Elysées and browse the permanent collection at the Petit Palais. Relax in the spa's Oriental Steam Room after a Carita anti-aging facial. End the day with sphère de saumon fume served on the plant-walled terrace.

The low score on our room was purely based on the number of staff we had knocking on our door. 1 day was a total of 8 people in the 3 hours! We also knew about the fire alarm test that day however we're woken up with on going messages on the TV, Telephone and the alarm was tested for a complete 11 minutes put that together with 8 people knocking at our door during our 1st wedding anniversary was not special and very frustrating! Only 2 of your staff are expected. To deliver and collect our in room breakfast that day. The rib eye steak in the purple car was inedible, my husband couldn't even chew it to swallow it. The waiter saw the plate was full and just took it away, never asked if the food was ok. Other than that we would recommend the hotel and the executive lounge was fabulous.

We stayed here for 2 nights before embarking on a river cruise and I found it to be a confusing place. The room was very nice, but the hotel corridors were so dark and dingy. I suppose it's just a personal thing, lots of people seem to like it, but for me it just needed brightening up. The buffet breakfast was good, but the layout was confusing making it difficult to find what was needed. Also you need deep pockets to stay here. The rack rate is eye watering. Our room (not a suite just an ordinary room) had a rack rate of €1300. Breakfast was €40 per person. I doubt many people pay these rates and I certainly cannot understand how they could be justified. The location of the hotel is very good being just a short walk from the Arc de Triomphe.

The hotel is a nice place to stay if you are looking for a calm and quiet place. Just 10 minutes by walk to the Champs Elysees. The restaurants are good, kindly and warming staff. The rooms are good and you have access to all the facilities.

Art deco style hotel. A wonderful base whilst visiting Paris, close to Arc du Triomphe and Champs Elysee. We had a beautiful room which was very clean. Breakfast was delicious. All the staff were very helpful and pleasant.

My first trip to Paris, so my review here is limited. The staff was very nice and helpful, I appreciated their willingness to assist us with our questions and they did give nice suggestions and advice for the area. Everyone had a very kind and pleasant attitude. The rooms and hotel itself was average. This hotel did have air conditioning in the rooms but it was not cold ac in the room -more like cool. We attended an event in the Ballroom and it was very well done. The staff was top notch and it was set up beautifully. The ballroom temperature was very comfortable, the tables were gorgeous, the bathrooms were very clean. I really enjoyed the ballroom experience at the Hotel du Collectionneur.
