About the Hotel
Three garden terraces turn the Hotel du Collectionneur into an oasis just north of the Champs-Elysees. The hotel's glamorous Art Deco style is inspired by transatlantic cruise liners of the 1930s – green marble, antiques and elaborate period prints adorn the hallways, and top floor rooms have small balconies from which to behold the city below. Sip on absinthe in an alcove at the glitzy Purple Bar, watching life go by on Rue de Courcelles.

A fine hotel in the heart of Paris
We stayed two nights at the Du Collectionneur as part of a Viking group. It's a lovely hotel, in a good position and our room was large with all the facilities you would expect. As part of a big group we did hear grumbles about the breakfast layout, but it managed to cope with a couple of hundred people descending on the dining room almost all at once. Everything was there, its just a matter of finding a table and exploring. There was one disappointment, because of the intense heat the outside dining area is closed in the evening. No matter, we found a very good local restaurant, a stone's throw away. The hotel does have a bar that does food, but it does get booked up and the service is, how shall I put it, leisurely. Very hot summers seem to be becoming normal. Its perhaps an area the hotel should look at, it has a huge, air conditioned dining room, that seems underused. All in all a very nice stay, in the heart of Paris.

The staff is cordial and housekeeping efficient. However the breakfast experience was average...too much rush and same menu all days.
