The Hotel du Collectionneur in Paris, France

Three garden terraces – a rare amount of green space in central Paris – turn Hotel du Collectionneur into an oasis just north of the Champs-Elysees. The hotel's glamorous Art Deco style is inspired by transatlantic cruise liners of the 1930s – green marble, antiques and elaborate period prints adorn the hallways, and top floor rooms have small balconies from which to behold the city below. Sip on absinthe in an alcove at the glitzy Purple Bar, watching life go by on rue de Courcelles.

Enjoy a croissant and coffee in the courtyard among fountains, cypress hedges, rosebushes and palm trees. Boutique-hop along the Champs-Elysées and browse the permanent collection at the Petit Palais. Relax in the spa's Oriental Steam Room after a Carita anti-aging facial. End the day with sphère de saumon fume served on the plant-walled terrace.

Slow housekeeping, carpeting is terrible. Size of rooms for Europe are not bad. Bedding is ok, not enough pillows. AC is weak. Water is scarce, have to order room service if you've consumed and paid for the one bottle of water in the mini-fridge. Not sure how they track, multiple billing issues with the mini-fridge. Bathtubs are so high that both my husband and I stubbed our toes, however, they are not wide. Cannot have your feet shoulder width apart they are so small. Shower, we'll call it that, is a hand-held add on in the corner of the tub, you have to wedge into the corner to shampoo your hair during a shower. Concierge, only adequate. Able to provide some information, however, misrepresented tickets purchased for the Palace as skip the line when they were not. Also, made reservations through them for the terrace at the Museum restaurant to view the tower during dinner. The restaurant called, said they did, in the afternoon to let them know that the terrace would be closed. Concierge did not pass on the message to us, nearly ruined a well-planned evening. Breakfast at restaurant was reasonable, however, the eggs are terrible. I had never seen scrambled eggs that resembled jelled porridge prior to our visit and they tasted awful. They appeared the same on three different days, we only tried them once. Table service was non-existent. Waited 15 min for hot tea, gave up when another table began causing a scene because they had been waiting for more than half an hour for coffee. Room service is dismal. They only delivered half the food, forgot several condiments (syrup is needed for french toast), more importantly ignored a food allergy alert and then took nearly an hour to deliver the rest of the food. No apology, rather the gentleman on the phone handed the phone to a lady who seemed annoyed with me. The Purple Room bar was decent in both selection and price.

Great hotel - good value for price. Within walking distance of Arc du triomphe. Travelled as a large family group w/ kids. The rooms w/ 2 queen beds were OK and adequate. We upgraded one room to "Executive lounge access" and one adult in the other room was free and paid 25 Euro/day extra for each other adult. Kids were free. Highly recommend this option as breakfast was included for free and you had access to snacks / drinks / coffee etc. all day at the lounge - well worth the price and this was the one thing that was very memorable about our stay at this hotel. We especially enjoyed the open air balcony w/ family in the lounge. Breakfast was great - very busy w/ large volume of guests but staff did their best to accommodate. The omelets station was very good. Taxis from the hotel were usually cheaper than fares quoted on Uber.

Stayed here for 3 nights before our cruise. Had dinner in the main restaurant in the hotel. As expected, the service and meal was top class. Can't remember the exact details, but the service was excellent and the meals magnificent but not over the top. Ate there twice. Highly recommended.

This hotel treated my family great. Upon check-in they upgraded our room at no charge, offered us water, informed us where we could eat. Every interaction, at the bar, restaurant or room service was courteous, informative and we had a great time. The room was "normal size", which was surprising because most hotels in Europe feel very small to Americans. I would recommend this hotel and next time I visit France, here is where we are staying. I saw same bad reviews and I really don't understand what happened, but our experience was a really good one.

We have travelled widely with our kids and are currently staying in this hotel.... We came back to the room after a long day sightseeing, came in at 6.16pm and found the room not done. I called and complained and no one showed up, so called again after 40 minutes and waited for 20 more minutes...., still nothing, so I walked out of the room and to my astonishment there was a sign outside my door saying "do not disturb ", and now I had a raise my voice on my third call and all the housekeeping could say was "it wasn't me who placed that sign" and she did apologize that it could have been the housekeeper leaving her shift and couldn't bother to clean. SO PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT EVER EVEN CONSIDER THIS HOTEL... We payed 300 euro per night for three nights for no service from housekeeping But do give credit to front desk and concierge who gave us 5 star service Florida USA
