The Hotel du Collectionneur in Paris, France

Three garden terraces – a rare amount of green space in central Paris – turn Hotel du Collectionneur into an oasis just north of the Champs-Elysees. The hotel's glamorous Art Deco style is inspired by transatlantic cruise liners of the 1930s – green marble, antiques and elaborate period prints adorn the hallways, and top floor rooms have small balconies from which to behold the city below. Sip on absinthe in an alcove at the glitzy Purple Bar, watching life go by on rue de Courcelles.

Enjoy a croissant and coffee in the courtyard among fountains, cypress hedges, rosebushes and palm trees. Boutique-hop along the Champs-Elysées and browse the permanent collection at the Petit Palais. Relax in the spa's Oriental Steam Room after a Carita anti-aging facial. End the day with sphère de saumon fume served on the plant-walled terrace.

Good location, but service can be chaotic and unsynchronised. More personnel is needed. Long waiting time for orders at breakfast. Nice architecture and furniture, efficient service at the bar. Very efficient bellman.

I did not sleep at the hotel, but ended up going two nights, of my 4 day trip, to The purple bar! Is was a nice atmosphere, and our waiter Michael gave such great service! Would absolutely go back here! Not only because of great atmosphere and wonderful service, but also for the amazing drinks!

We enjoyed everything about the hotel. The staff was friendly and the room was very comfortable. Our beds were some of the best that I have slept on in a hotel. My favorite amenity has to be the complimentary phone, though. For someone who didn't think to buy an international data plan for their travel, the handy phone was extremely useful. I would love to come back to this hotel.

First impression of the hotel are grand...however that is all you can class as 5 star. Bedrooms looked tired and worn. Toilet seat not aligned and general shabby. We were there for one night only so it didn't really concern us too much. Breakfast- with the time change it was chaos, long queues to get in, once in food was running out and it took an age to replace. Staff were rude except for one waiter. Would rate the hotel 4 star.....definitely not 5.
