Le Meurice is one of the most famous "old" hotels in Paris (along with such properties as The Ritz, Le Bristol, the Crillion, and some others). The hotel underwent a major renvoation some years back and it's better than ever IMO. Location: Couldn't be better. Facing the Tulieries gardens it offers stunning views to those facing that direction. The metro is just a short walk and the Champs-Élysées is also just a short walk from the hotel. Shopping and restaurants are surrounding the property. Basically, you're in a great spot. Rooms: decorated in the classic French style, the rooms are not huge but decent sized by Paris standards. There are many room categories and I've stayed a number of times with rooms of varying sizes. If the size of the room is a reall issue to you, then please take note of the sizes when booking and/or ask to see different rooms when you arrive (if available). See my photo of the floor plan for our floor. The rooms offer a shower and tub, and in our case, are separated from the main living area by a short hall, which makes it more private, which I appreciate. The hotel, despite its size, it very quiet. I was told the hotel was fully booked, and while we ran into other guests on the elevators, we never had any noise coming from the hallways or adjoining rooms. Service: what you would expect from a 5-star hotel (and certainly at this price point). We arrived. A bellman assisted with baggage and invited into the hotel. At check-in, we were told our room wasn't ready yet (we were early, around 11am). However, she invited us to wait in the lounge area and offered us complimentary champagne. At other times during our stay, the concierge was very helpful arranging restaurant reservations as one of the more trendy locations on short notice. He also offered helpful tips on admission to the Louvre which we wanted to visit again this trip. The doormen were able to arrange taxis for us and also suggested booking one in advance when we told them we'd need to leave during "peak" hours. All in all, service is very attentive but not overbearing. To me, its nearly perfect. If I don't have any problems or feel the need to double check things then I'm happy. Bars/Restauarants: We unfortunately did not have the chance to dine at the main restaurant but did have drinks in the bar several nights. Very dark and romantic, and the staff were very professional. One small detail I appreciated is the quality of the the glassware used. I'm sort of anal on those sorts of things and I was very happy with the heavy lead glass used to serve my whiskey in. Le Meurice is (for the moment), my favorite hotel in Paris. Although, I'm going to the Crillion soon.. On one hand, Paris is one of those cities you want to be out and about and not stuck in your hotel. On the other hand, if you want to experience luxury the French way, Le Meurice is a great option for you.

Where do I begin, to tell the story of how great a hotel can be? Anouck was incredibly patient and helpful with my many questions and requests, and really helped to make our stay in Paris magical! The hotel is in a perfect location in the 1st Arr for walking to almost everywhere - Musee D’Orsay, Louvre, Tuileries garden, the Seine, and fabulous shopping! The hotel is a beautiful palace with beautiful ceilings, and roses everywhere- the lovely smell is a treat to return to each day after exploring! Rooms are lovely with fabulous closets, nice bathrooms, great bath products, and comfy beds! The spa is wonderful and Sunday brunch, Bar 228, and dinner at Le Meurice Alain Ducasse are not to be missed! But the friendly staff are what truly makes this hotel! We loved our 8 days in our Parisian apartment and were so sad to leave! Oh, and the public bathroom actually has heated toilets with automated seat -great attention to details make this Palace spectacular. And with the current stay 4 nights pay for 3, affordable!
