Beautiful, très chic Paris is in fine form at Les Jardins du Marais. Behind an unassuming façade on Rue Amelot in Marais, this Summit Hotels & Resorts property, part of the Preferred Hotel Group, adds a contemporary edge to 1930s glamour in rooms outfitted with plush purple carpeting and Macassar ebony furniture. Sunlight floods the lobby and restaurant through a glass roof, and blossoming flowers are everywhere. Nine renovated, historic buildings comprise the hotel – one used to house Gustave Eiffel’s workshop.

Hotel compares to a 2 star hotel in US standard. Below a hotel 6. Air conditioning unnoticable. 76 degrees the coolest. The staff lost our 3 bags on laundry which were promised that night and we needed to go on a cruise the next day. The staff assured us the management would get back to us the next day which they never have. Bad experience! Bad service! Lots of other choices.

Positives. Air conditioning was brilliant in my room. Lots of hot water on demand. The room was not large but not cramped, nicely decorated and bed was comfortable. Clean. Bathroom again small but clean and appeared recently installed. Internet was free and worked well. Coffee machine in the room ( but no refills of pods or milk). Free canned water and biscuits but empty fridge. Negatives. I asked for a quiet room but was given one with interconnecting doors, so I could hear everything a couple in the next room said to each other and one of the couple coughed a lot. It was also noisy from the courtyard despite the windows being double blazed. Fortunately, I had my earplugs with me. The bathroom was dark because the only light in there was a strip light over the sink. This is not good for ladies needing to put make-up on. There was no full length mirror in the room. There was a slightly musty smell in my room. Prices of drinks in the bar were expensive (e.g. €12 for a glass of wine). You’re better off going just down the road to the three bars on the corner. They took over €800 on my card on checking in and then charge me the full amount for the stay on checking out. They told me the €800 would be returned to my account but so far, two days later, I don’t know whether this has happened, which makes me rather anxious. I did ask them to email me a receipt which they said they would, and then didn’t. Apart from the small restaurant ( which I never saw anybody in) and courtyard, there is nothing else.

I paid top price for a Prestige Suite and what we got was a shame and appalling, the room/rooms were unclean, the shower didn’t work, so the entire family had to use the one bathroom, the TOILET was dirty the cleaning women were called in at 7pm in the evening because of my complaint to clean the toilet , I have attached some pics for reference, the staff was entirely unsympathetic and unhelpful , at breakfast they actually have a “bouncer” take his position at the breakfast buffet table at exactly 10am and turn away people from food already laid out .

Great location, clean and tidy room. Breakfast buffet was plentiful with a lot of choice and fresh items constantly being added. The outside terrace bar was a welcome & quiet place to sit and enjoy after a full day of exploring Paris. I would stay there again.
