About the Hotel

Beautiful, très chic Paris is in fine form at Les Jardins du Marais. Behind an unassuming façade on Rue Amelot in Marais, this Summit Hotels & Resorts property, part of the Preferred Hotel Group, adds a contemporary edge to 1930s glamour in rooms outfitted with plush purple carpeting and Macassar ebony furniture. Sunlight floods the lobby and restaurant through a glass roof, and blossoming flowers are everywhere. Nine renovated, historic buildings comprise the hotel – one used to house Gustave Eiffel’s workshop.

2 star service claiming 4

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

We took an executive room. Relatively expensive. Definitely not worth it. Two star service in a four star hotel. The unsmiling receptionist examined our passports (Irish and Belgian) and then enquired were we Canadian before leaving us to carry our own bags and find our room. Bedside light was not working. A second call to reception 30 minutes after the first call was ignored was required to get action. The television played up for the first 20 minutes every evening, losing picture or even switching off. This was never addressed. At breakfast my wife was told that a fried egg involved a supplemental cost. Finally I had had enough and I approached the desk. They agreed we had had poor service and that it would improve. True enough, we were treated very well at breakfast for the rest of the week. However, two days later, there was only one bath towel in our bathroom. Again two calls to reception required to get action. On the second call, the first call was denied but a towel finally appeared. I should mention that the bathroom was among the most basic I ever encountered in a hotel with not even a shelf for soaps and shampoos and a shower-head reaching a mere 20cm from the wall requiring gymnastics to climb above the taps to shower. Very poor value for money.

Great location, outdated hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

This hotel is in a Great location but is very outdated. The hotel needs a complete renovation, especially in the bathrooms where the tiles are broken, the handrails are missing and the tubs drain slowly. The carpet in the rooms are stained and old and the furniture in the lobby is extremely worn. Breakfast was OK. You will find something to eat. This was probably a very cute boutique hotel back in the days, but needs a lot of work. Look for another hotel.

Old world style

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Charming hotel in the city, loved the art deco style decor. Breakfast was a step up from most hotels that offer complimentary breakfast. In room espresso machine and kind staff. The hotel is in walking distance of several restaurants, pharmacies, grocery store and bakeries.

Would stay here again!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

The hotel is in a nice quiet area of the 11th arrondissement, but so close to the back of 3rd arrondissement that it made it easy to get around the city via the 8 line. This was not our first trip to Paris so we didn't need a hotel in the middle of everything, instead we wanted a nice location that was quiet and had great amenities. This place delivered on it all.

Horrible and very expensive

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We booked 4 rooms for ourselves and our staff as we come to Paris often and like the area of Marais. This hotel was not cheap at about €450.00 per night including breakfast. The breakfast was terrible, overcooked scrambled eggs cooked to serve a huge crowd of people as there were a lot of Tour Bus people with their name tags in this hotel, . Coffee that looked and tasted like warm brown dish washing water, we couldn’t drink it, it was basically like a work cafeteria, just very average. We opted for the other 2 mornings to go out to the street and have breakfast at a local cafe where the food and coffee was actually drinkable and edible. Couldn’t torture ourselves in that poor excuse for a breakfast room. The room was so hot we had to leave a window open, the A/C did not cool at all. No hangers for our clothes in the wardrobe, we asked for some but they never came. The shower spout was loose so spurted water everywhere but not much on your body, again asked it to be fixed but nobody came, just pathetic. It was a suite and the old vinyl covered lounge had no springs. Just a very expensive DUMP., our mistake for booking it so DONT BOOK THIS HOTEL OTHERWISE YOU WILL REGRET IT. Also the entry to the bar area had a sort of hidden step, the tiles were black, and we sat in the bar one day and saw 3 people trip on it, one lady fell flat on her face and hurt her knee, just a big disaster which will happen!! This place is in my opinion a maximum 2 star and worth less than half what we paid, just a rip off, never again.
