Great experience again!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

We stayed at the Pullman Bercy seven years ago with our two kids and had a great experience. Therefore I booked the hotel again for our trip to Paris with the kids last week. We had a marvellous time. All staff members were super friendly, competent and very welcoming. Except one person who checked us in at our arrival at 14:45 pm at the hotel. The receptionist didn't even say Hello and she was obviously having a bad day. She just asked for the credit card and the deposit of 1000 Euros, afterwards she told me that the room wasn't ready. I was a bit surprised and asked when it will be ready. She answered that she has no idea and that I cannot expect the room to be ready, the hotel doesn't guarantee the check in time at 2pm. After 6 hours of journey ( which I told her, she didn't seem to care at all) we were quite exhausted and we went to the Bercy Village to have a rest, drinks and some nice food. This was the only negative incident at the hotel. All other staff members were always attentive and just great. The rooms were just wonderful with a magnificent view. The following days we avoided the unfriendly receptionist and everything was fine. We even received an upgrade to a higher suite category for the last night, which was just perfect and made our stay in Paris an unforgettable experience again. Thanks so much to all the friendly and caring staff! See you again! Best regards!

A bit far from the Center!!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

It is on the eastern edge of Paris, within the periphery, well connected with the rest of Paris via the metro. The rooms are very clean, size wise average and the breakfast is quite good. By European standards this hotel is very nice and almost a good value for the euro

Great staff, but a lot of smaller issues

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 months ago

I stayed at this hotel for a family stay with my 4 years old daughter. First of all the positives: the hotel is not in the best possible location in Paris but it has the metro 14 right outside the hotel. This line is super fast and very reliable (well, when we were there the line was closed for repairs, which was really annoying... but the hotel had nothing to do with it). The Bercy Village location is also good for the restaurants and places to have a drink close to the hotel. Other massive positive: the hotel staff is great, really nice and carefully caring for your needs, it was a real pleasure for all the small attentions, in particular attentions to kids. On the average: I would say the room is OK, nothing great about it but nothing bad either, a very good size for a hotel in Paris, relatively modern, although there could be a better attention to details. But overall what you would expect of a Pullman (at least a European Pullman, I tend to prefer the brand's Asian hotels). On the bad side: a few things there which are quite annoying, and the accumulate. First of all, the design of some of the lamps in the room is quite poor, my 4 years old daughter got a burn by touching the outside of a bedside lamp and it took a week to go away, and it has been quite painful to her. This should not happen in a hotel in 2023. Use LEDs! or well designed lamps! or both! Then the swimming pool was freezing cold! I had to take my daughter out of the water after 15-20mins as her lips had turned blue by then. There was a note by the pool saying that they reduce the temperature of the pool to take care of the environment.... to me that's really using greenwashing to justify cost reduction at the expense of comfort. There are other solutions to reduce the hotel's environment impact (switch ot zero CO2 electricity provider, combine your traditional heating with a solar heating system for the pool, replace all lamps in the hotel by LEDs instead of kids-fingers-burning old fashioned bulbs, etc.). Putting comfort, and even safety (at least for the younger ones) at risk to reduce cost doesn't seem the best approach to encourage customers to return. Finally, another lack of attention to detail (but which has its importance): there was no milk on the courtesy platter. I called the reception telling them that they had forgotten the milk, and they said that they are not putting some milk in courtesy platters to reduce their plastic impact.... but such milk could be bought at the bar! ... So there is a number of totally absurd things in this statements: first if they don't put milk to reduce plastics why do they put individually packed teabags in plastic pouches, and three different types of sugars in plastic pouches (when paper alternatives exist). Second, many hotels now are putting some small glass bottles of milk in the minibar to replace the plastic single use ones (but I believe this solution is slightly more expensive... greenwashing to reduce costs again!). So overall an OK experience, a lot of small annoying things which accumulates and show that the hotel tries to cut corners on quality. But, I have to say, an amazing staff.

Tahar the chief made the mornings an excellent start….incredibly accommodating and friendly. A true credit to the hotel…. Very helpful Concierge who are prepared to park your car for you and get it ready for you. Front of house staff are welcoming and friendly.
