Historic Charm, But Service and Rooms Are Far Below Luxury Standards

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

he rooms are in desperate need of renovation, and the staff lacks the professionalism and hospitality experience expected at a luxury property. From musty pet-friendly rooms that triggered allergies to unhelpful and dismissive staff at the front desk, cocktail lounge, and steakhouse, my experience fell far below expectations. Despite planning to stay two additional weeks while my home was under renovation, I chose to check out early. The rates charged do not match the quality provided, and I cannot recommend this property in its current state.

Beautiful sophisticated hotel

We took a three generation trip with my mother, and my 13-year-old daughter for the weekend to Pasadena. Staying at the Langham was absolutely the highlight of the weekend. Hotel is truly beautiful and the grounds are gorgeous. We had hot sunny weather and enjoyed the pool area with highly attentive staff checking every so often to see if we needed cool drinks or to order any food. We ate at the hotel restaurant twice for breakfast and lunch and enjoyed all of our meals. The hotel room was very clean and the furnishings were beautiful. I particularly enjoy the products used in the shower as well. We would love to come back to the Langham someday to try their steakhouse or the afternoon tea.

Beautiful hotel

We stayed at the Langham for three nights for our son’s wedding. The staff took excellent care of everyone. Guests took advantage of the pool, bar, restaurants and beautiful grounds. We will definitely return.

Not all that it is cracked up to be, or used to be.

The hotel is beautiful and the grounds are amazing. The staff is friendly. But, logiistics are poor. We could not check in until 4:30. My room was no serviced until 4 pm. They did not provide tea, and complementary tea/coffee was from 5 am to 7 am - even on the weekend (not really customer-focused). Some tasks went unaddressed (the shower soap and shampoo pump didn't work), we had a pad by phone to write on, but no pens. The most annoying was that the parking was $50 per day with NO option for self-parking and no street parking.
