Not a Five-Star hotel. Don't stay on a weekend if they have large events because they can't handle it. Be sure to make reservations on a weekend if you want to eat breakfast. The third day the front desk and valet didn't answer at all, and since they had the "two big events" one night, the valet was backed up 20-30 cars. That's fine but maybe have a place for hotel guests (not party guests) to bring their cars and not wait 30 minutes. The room was SO mediocre and depressing. Faux laminate "wood" floors, which should have been our first hint, all white walls, no color, nothing on the walls (except a randomly placed, giant round mirror by the front door). No art, prints, nothing. Like a hospital room with a big dresser and a king bed and really loud AC , so bring earplugs. No one answers the phone at the front desk before multiple rings then you get put on hold listening to the recording telling you your call is extremely important to them. The hotel keeps the AC down so low you need a coat to walk around. Weird things like no waste basket except in the bathroom, no mini-bar, no recycling, an empty refrigerator and no fan in the bathroom for the shower. The grounds and lobby are nice, but it feels more 3-4 star. Service in the Terrace is really slow, the food average, but the servers, while overworked, are really friendly. They, and housekeeping, get 5 stars. The valet team was really friendly but disorganized/overwhelmed. If you need any help ask for Fanuel, he is so professional and I think the hotel should promote this man. Also, we met three other couples/families and they ALL agreed on how odd it is that the rooms are surprisingly bland, and everyone was confused by the vertical green screen panels. You won't want to spend time there unless you're in the beds which are comfortable. Also literally NO amenities at all, exept a hair dryer and kleenex. They are the only game in town in Pasadena, which is why they get away with it? If you stay, enjoy the Tap Room/Bar and the grounds are nice, but don't have expections for your room. So disappointing. I thought maybe we just got sub-par room, but from what we heard they are all like this, just bigger. Don't judge this book by it's cover. I feel sorry for the people who actually work there, it's obvious they don't take feedback from the employees who actually interact with the guests. OMG the CEO should stay in one of these rooms for a week. Oh and during the big remodel they forgot to change the shower heads, which are one setting.

Beautiful grounds but poor customer service and errors when booking reservations, even when calling directly can result in extremely expensive rates for the quality of service you get.

I've stayed at 5 star properties before, but this one blew me away. The service and facilities were top notch, but the thoughtful touches and the included amenities made me feel pampered without being fussed over. Everything I needed was at my fingertips without any extra worry. I especially loved the Cafe - what a fantastic amenity to utilize throughout the day! Though it was a mix of business travel, families, and couples, I felt like we easily had a romantic weekend. Whatever you need this hotel to be - business or a fun vacation - it fits that need. Spa was wonderful as well and the sauna/ steamroom/ jacuzzi were wonderful to use after a relaxing massage! Thank you!

My wife and I stayed here with our two young kids. The hotel and grounds are all fantastic. We had a premiere room, and it was huge with plenty of space for the 4 of us. The hotel staff was top notch at every level. Front desk, room service, valet, etc. We had a wonderful stay, and look forward to coming back!

We had numerous issues at this property that I won't go into, but suffice it to say that this is definitely not deserving of its 5 star rating. The whole property looks run down - rust and pink mold stains in the bathrooms, dirty pools, peeling wallpaper, stained carpet. The place could look immaculate and like one of the best hotels in the US if they actually committed to keeping it maintained, but I couldn't even get soap to take a shower, they just kept giving me more shampoo. Indicative of the whole experience really.
