Reviews for The Langham Huntington, Pasadena

Beautiful hotel

We stayed at the Langham for three nights for our son’s wedding. The staff took excellent care of everyone. Guests took advantage of the pool, bar, restaurants and beautiful grounds. We will definitely return.

Not all that it is cracked up to be, or used to be.

The hotel is beautiful and the grounds are amazing. The staff is friendly. But, logiistics are poor. We could not check in until 4:30. My room was no serviced until 4 pm. They did not provide tea, and complementary tea/coffee was from 5 am to 7 am - even on the weekend (not really customer-focused). Some tasks went unaddressed (the shower soap and shampoo pump didn't work), we had a pad by phone to write on, but no pens. The most annoying was that the parking was $50 per day with NO option for self-parking and no street parking.

Exceptional service from check in to departure. This was a local getaway and it does feel like a true getaway. Relaxing, beautiful, and amazing service!

Poor post departure issue resolution

The tap room is described as a refined place to spend an evening. Unfortunately it was a sports bar with live music removed and replaced with sports being streamed on the big screen. Service was slow.

Solid, but not quite great

Recently spent a few days at this property (our second or third visit). I'm going to be generous with my rating because our second day/night at the Langham was what I expected. It is a beautiful space with beautiful grounds. Our room was nice, service throughout the property was on point. Unfortunately, we didn't spend much time at the property on the second day of our long weekend as we had other activities. What we really wanted was to arrive on Saturday - our *first* day - check in, and relax for a few hours after traveling. We specifically selected the Langham because we knew that we'd have several outdoor areas to hang out, walk around, dine, etc. and we wouldn't even have to leave the property. The joke was on us, though, as multiple weddings spread across the property meant that we really couldn't go anywhere outside and no matter where we tried to go, access seemed to be limited. To make matters worse, our room was not ready by arrival time, and while we waited in the bar, we were ALSO pushed out of THAT space by yet more wedding guests. (Literally, pushed out - had to settle our bill standing up as more and more people crowded into the space.) I'm not complaining about the weddings per se (congrats, folks) but it seems like the management of these events was slim to nonexistent. It's a huge property, so there's clearly a way to balance the needs of guests as well as special events clients. It wasn't happening when we were there, though. The gentleman at the check in desk didn't really apologize about the room not being available so much - he was more focused on telling me they were very busy and at nearly 100 percent full.....as if I was somehow to blame for being part of that problem? I'm sure he was stressed but....that just struck me as odd. As I said, I'm rounding up to a four star grade based on the rest of the stay. Hoping this was just a blip. For the daily rate - plus nearly $100 in valet fees and daily resort fees - our experience fell a little short this time. PS: The true MVPs of the whole weekend were the valet team. They were friendly, professional, and handled a crush of arrivals and departures without breaking a sweat. They deserve a lot of praise (and generous tips!)
