Wonderful Staycation with Outstanding Service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 20 hours ago

We had a wonderful family staycation and truly enjoyed our time at the hotel. From check-in to checkout, the service was exceptional. The front desk warmly welcomed us, thoughtfully assigned us a room near the pool as requested, and surprised us with a plush bear, chocolates, and bottled water. Checkout was equally seamless, with both an emailed and printed invoice provided. The dining experiences were excellent as well. The Lobby Lounge staff graciously accommodated our last-minute request to add another guest and updated our reservation to include a children's tea set. At breakfast at The Terrace, although the restaurant was fully booked, the staff placed us on the waitlist and kept us informed via text until our table was ready. Their attentiveness made both experiences stress-free and enjoyable. The only downside was the room noise. The A/C was slightly noisy, and we could hear footsteps from the room above after new guests checked in. Our room was also close to an exterior entrance, so the door opening and closing was noticeable. Despite these minor issues, the outstanding hospitality, beautiful property, and thoughtful service made for a memorable stay. We would gladly return and highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing luxury getaway.

Stayed at this hotel for business. Timeless beauty throughout the compound. Next time, I need to bring my family. Great place to getaway and escape.

A very pretty and picturesque hotel

This was a lovely hotel, with beautiful grounds, and lovely pools. The food was fine, but not exceptional, and I expected a bit more from the food quality from such a high end hotel.

NOT A SPECIAL PLACE ANYMORE

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

Complete disappointment and dissatisfaction with the deterioration of the normal experience at this hotel. It has gone from a 5-star, luxury, elegant, relaxing experience to nothing more than an over-priced, over-crowded "Marriott" type resort. We have been guests for more than 40 years and sadly, have no intention of staying here again. We never thought it would happen to the Huntington, but it has. The one refreshing thing is that most of the staff we encountered seemed to be long-time employees who still understand the importance of an excellent level of customer service and their dedication to doing their jobs well. Upon checking in at the posted time, we were told our room would be ready in approx 15 minutes because it was being "checked." Over an hour later, we finally got into the room only to find the toilet running, and not flushing. This was the first of many problems with our room (mainly plumbing) and cost us much wasted time and frustration. We repeatedly could not get anyone to answer the phone. At one point, the front desk clerk said we would have quicker response by texting. At this kind of hotel (luxury), the phone should be answered quickly and problems resolved, not handled by texting! Overall, the hotel was very noisy and chaotic. Many people on speaker phones or listening to music, etc without headphones. This is very disturbing especially in a dining environment. The staff should have tactfully asked these people to step outside, but nothing was done. The Executive Club Room is a joke. Don't pay the extra money for this. This place used to be a VERY relaxing environment for light meals, snacks and cocktails. It truly was a “Lounge” and was worth paying the extra room charge. It is now a cross between a cafeteria and Chucky Cheese. The staff could have done a better job of controlling the chaos. Also, although the dress code is posted, some people either didn't know about it or didn't care. The Tap Room is now a loud "sports bar" type place, instead of a "lounge" with good cocktails, snacks and music. Given the room rates, this hotel should provide 5-star service in all categories. It has for many years and we have usually been VERY satisfied. I don't know what happened, but it has lost it's appeal and the specialness it once had.
