Following in the noble footsteps of England's Queen Mother and the Prince of Monaco, you are in the finest of company when you stay at the Hotel Brufani Palace. This symbol of exclusivity resides in the central Italian hillside town of Perugia, gazing across the sweeping beauty of the Tiber Valley. A member of Leading Small Hotels of the World, this elite property dates back to 1884, and its original parquet floors, great stone fireplaces and antique chandeliers recall the grandeur of the Belle Epoque.

Stayed here for three nights while visiting Perugia. The location right in the center of town was excellent. We had to park offsite down a few escalators, which really wasn’t too much of a problem. The rooms were nice and spacious although I thought the cost of the hotel was more expensive than it probably should’ve been. I guess that’s what you get in a larger city in Umbria. The breakfast was nice. Staff were attentive. We did not use the pool although we visited it and it seemed pretty nice.

This hotel might once have been worth its 5 star claim but it is now trying to cater for tour groups , breakfast was a buffet which was unchanged in the 7 days we were there. Being vegetarian we were not impressed that the little cheese there was was next to cooked meat and the tongs provided were being used for both. The staff mostly very young were cheery but not well trained, the day two tours tried to have early breakfasts was chaos. Coffee which should be an Italian specialty was not good. Our room was tired and where repairs had been made to the wood work it was not well done.

Beautiful hotel in Perugia. Excellent location for exploring Perugia (in pedestrian zone), but also for exploring entire Umbria. Entire staff is very helpful and polite, but waiters at the breakfast and in the bar deserve a special commendation.

Wonderful, classic European hotel, centrally located close to everything in Perugia. Perhaps the best thing is that the hotel has underground valet parking on site (a rarity that is much appreciated by tourists in Italy). The breakfast was adequate, although not overwhelming and heavily oriented to cakes that the Italians seem to be fond of early in the day. Our room had a fantastic view of the surrounding area. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel as a nice base for touring in beautiful Umbria. Plenty of excellent restaurants within walking distance, although the hotel has a nice restaurant, based on its menu and appearance. We did not eat there, however.

This hotel is in a perfect location. Easy walking to main town attractions. The staff was helpful, kind, and attentive. Breakfast was fantastic with ample selections in a beautiful setting. A five star rating is a bit high. This hotel gets an average rating due to the room. The bed was uncomfortable. Hard as a rock and the pillows were too. I mentioned this to the front desk, and they added extra bed layering and softer pillows which helped. The room was in need of updating. Small chair with worn material. It was clean which is always a plus.
