My husband and I stayed at Aleenta for our honeymoon in June. We stayed in a Grand Deluxe Pool Villa. It was an absolute treat to have a private pool. We chose the resort because of its advertised ability to cater for a coeliac (gluten free). GF is marked on their menus. Unfortunately, this didn't end up being a sound choice, as the staff didn't seem to understand the requirement, even after being assured by the head chef that they had been trained in what GF was. Consequently, it became quite a hassle. We also experienced several meals that came out cold – or things were missing from the order, this was the case for both the standard meals and GF meals. It seemed to be a general theme of the holiday that things were never executed completely, in the end we had to laugh about it because of the frustration. Housekeeping continually removed towels that are in the rooms specifically for the pool/beach and didn't replace them (you're only given one towel for showering, so it's an issue when you're swimming all day or have hair you need to wash and dry) The pool having large amounts of dirt in it from the surrounding garden –should be serviced every few days for the comfort of guests during their stay. Pool also had missing tiles that left sharp and mouldy areas that you had to avoid. Ice was delivered to the room with mould and mosquitos in it (after having to call twice to get it) You have to call specifically to ask for the pool side lounge area to be set up (it's only 4 pillows). This should be done before a guest arrives as it's a given that in a private pool villa you will be using the lounge. The TV did not work most of the time, and when it did, only 2-3 channels would function. WIFI was patchy, and problematic. Bike helmets being stored separately to bikes, so you need to climb a large set of stairs to reception every time you would like to use a bike, in 30 degree weather, that's frustrating. These are things that sound trivial, but it's the kind of stuff you don't want to have to 'handle' or concern yourself with while on holiday. There is a restaurant called Co-Sea House, about a 3 min bike ride or 10 min walk from the is a great break from hotel food. They catered for GF, and the food was spectacular! The hotel certainly has the capacity to be a beautiful 5 star hotel, they just need to get everyone on the same page in regards to continuity and the standards of service that are expected by guests at a resort like Aleenta.

Great design, there's indeed privacy for each villa. Tranquil, we almost had the beach to ourselves. Staff courteous and friendly always. Dining options were understandably limited, but we had delightful local Thai food at Co-sea, a short walk from Aleenta.

We stayed two nights at Aleenta, in the Ocean View Loft. The room itself was lovely, the only thing to be improved is to install a brighter and more spacious vanity top. The Bose dock speaker by the bed was a nice touch! Although it would be nicer if the speakers had bluetooth connectivity; not complaining at all though! The room has direct access to a pool shared with the other Ocean View Loft units. Do note that the “ocean view” is only a partial ocean view, and it looks over the top of the units nearer the beach. Breakfast is served at the restaurant right next to the beach with a lovely view. The food quality and selection wasn’t too bad - there is a small buffet and also a menu to order from. We also had several meals there. It is a luxury hotel so the restaurant food also carries a steep price tag but there were some dishes that we felt were very value - the pizzas and the fish and chips were really good! There isn’t much around the resort, but you could get the front desk to arrange for a taxi to take you to co-sea, a nearby restaurant serving local food that is very cheap and authentic. The ambience and structure of the place caters more towards couples rather than family with young kids. There are a lot of stairs within the resort and could be troublesome for young kids or the elderly. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much.

Spent 4 days at the pool suite and the management was very kind and out of goodwill to allow us early check-in and late check-out, was subjected to availability of course. The private beach area is very quiet and tranquil where we also had our private dinner at. Simply romantic and thanks to all the staff who made this trip possible and memorable; my partner had said YES! =) My thanks to Som (reservation), Fern (reception), and Tina (Edge staff).
