Anantara Phuket Villas in Phuket, Thailand

Phuket may be one of the world’s premier beach destinations, but staying at Anantara Phuket Villas is like having a private slice of the island. On a well-manicured section of Mai Khao Beach, each self-sustaining villa unfolds into at least 600 square feet of living space. Tropical breezes flow through an open-air contemporary design highlighted by bamboo accents and Southern Thai exoticism. Most luscious is the aqua-tiled private pool just two strides from the bed.

Lounge on your sunny daybed with a plate of fresh mangosteen, papaya and dragon fruit. Cycle through coconut groves past the Sino-Portuguese mansions that line Phuket Town’s historic district, stopping to sample market treats and to marvel at ancient temples. Go for a boat ride to the Similan Islands to dive among well-preserved coral reefs in aquamarine waters. Dine on Thai fusion tapas in a restaurant suspended atop a Banyan tree before retiring with a bottle of wine from your villa’s private cellar.

We stayed for the first portion of our honeymoon. The scenery, wait staff, and accommodations could not be more stunning. It is somewhat secluded, and you have everything you need within walking distance. We spent a lot of time in our private pool, and with the grocery store so close, we really didn't need to leave. Likely one of the most relaxing vacation spots in all of Thailand.

We stayed 2 nights at Patong and 2 nights at Anantara Mai Khao resort. This resort is about an hour away from Patong, 20mins to Phuket International Airport. It is located next to Anantara Vacation club and Marriott. Few restaurants and some souvenirs shops, turtle mart is just next to the resort. The location is isolated so don't expect exciting night life here. Good place for relaxation. Once we arrived the resort, we were welcome by the staff, offering us cold towels and welcome drink. The pool villa is amazing, very well maintained with good amenities. Turn down service is available (but no snacks/sweets). Gym was good, pool was nice. You can walk along the beach too. They offer free bicycle rides and free shuttle to Mai Khao plaza and turtle mart. There are family mart and 7-11 about 800meter away. Staff were helpful. We had afternoon tea at the tree top restaurant, thb1,500++ per set with free flow of coffee/tea/juices from 2pm-5pm, the portion is too great, impossible to finish by 2 people. The staff there ms Anne and the gentlemen were very caring. It was a good experience! We had our dinner at La Sala restaurant, good Thai food, very friendly staff especially Mr.Tony. Breakfast was just average. Being a luxury resort, we expect a better varieties and better food quality. We attended the Anantara vacation club, the gentlemen Mr Jason and Mr Alex were friendly. Although we did not join the membership today, they still reward us with thb10,000 vouchers which can be use to purchase souvenirs at the gallery, enjoy the food in the resort. We enjoyed our stay at Anantara MaiKhao resort, thank you for making our stay a memorable one! Will definitely stay with Anantara hotels and resorts next time!

when I am feeling down and stressed and need to revitalize there is only one place that comes to my mind....here! I been staying here every year sine it opened and it never disappoints, never. it is nice to see how the property have turned in to a very organized jungle with a lot of wildlife. staff is super pro and the designer of the place needs credit, even though the property is 10 years you dont feel the design is fading, the villas, and always choose with a Sala is perfect for the private romantic Holiday. the pool at the villa is twice the size as normal and there is always fresh fruit and plenty of free water. the rooms are well kept with everything you desire in a 5 star hotel. Breakfast! as I go here to unwind and live healthy the breakfast is magical. always beautiful carved fruit with a daily variety, beet roots juice carrot juice bircher musli etc. it is a hide away you are far from the madding crowd, and the best part is that the hotel clientele is very diverse, never to many from one country and that make a nice international crowd. there is plenty of leisure activities and it is one of the few hotels where you dont sense the many families with children. the hotel is 5 minutes from the airport, located on a beach with sunset. I travel the world but I always return here. can't wait to come back

We’ve been to Anantara 3 years ago and were really charmed by the resort itself and the welcome and service we’ve receive. This year we decided to come back and God it was great. People working for Anantara are amazing, you know that Thais are very gentle and polite, but Anantara staff are taking it to the whole new level. They remember your names, your choice of drinks for breakfast, they are nicely chatty and are looking for any opportunity to assist and impress. We love the facilities, the resort is well designed, very quiet, incredibly green and comfortable. We stayed in their standard pool villa, which is beautiful from any angle, inside and outside. Overlooking the pool and trees from the bed or looking at beautifully decorated villa from the pool deck – it’s absolutely stunning. September is a rainy season, so we stayed inside a lot, and as much as I was really gutted that it rained non-stop for a few days, just enjoying the views around me and relaxing in the comfy snugs inside the villa totally made it up for the lack of sunshine. Resort smells great, jasmine scented amenities and incenses, flowers, the environment engages all the senses. Very overwhelming but soothing at the same time. Thing which concerned me a bit was the welfare of ducks at the resort. They are adorable, there are couple of flocks of 2 different breeds around the resort, they gang up in the water around breakfast terrace and together with fish wait for bread treats thrown by guests. It’s an amazing experience, in a couple of days you recognize them and see that each one has a character, but there are a couple who look like they need some care (the small ones which are bullied by bigger ones have their tails pinched and looking sore) and I was looking around to try and find their shelter, but couldn’t find any. Goose is a domesticated bird, they need a dry covered shelter, like a small shed to hide from the rain and to rest for the night. There animals form a great part of guest experience and need to be treated like any other asset  But they are all nice, active and fat, happily playing around, so it’s not a complaint. In fact, there was nothing really to complain about, breakfast menu had all we needed, service was great, cleaning and turndown were exceptional, it is worth every penny they charge  I was very sad when we were leaving, I hope we’ll be back again. Of all hotels I’ve been to this will be the one I will recommend with a hand on my heart. Thank you, Anatara team and see you again!

My husband and I travelled to the Anantara with our children aged 6, 3 and 1. We were made to feel welcome and looked-after from start to finish. We were allocated a member of staff, Bier, to take care of us during our stay. Bier made a point of coming to find us every day and was incredibly helpful with making restaurant reservations and organising babysitting. My husband hurt his foot on the last day of our stay and Bier insisted on accompanying him to hospital, which was above and beyond the call of duty! Nothing was too much trouble. We shared a two-bedroom pool villa and the rooms were gorgeous, with big comfortable beds and traditional decor. The cleaners come twice a day, and do a really thorough job. The resort is set out as villas centred around a lagoon, and is very pretty throughout. The pool area is beautiful, as is the beach. Our children used the kids' club and the childcare team, led by Jina, were absolutely wonderful with the kids, putting on a range of activities each day. The children were actually asking to stay longer at kids' club, which is not a request we've had on holiday before! The food at the resort was a highlight of the trip. Executive Chef Darren makes an effort to go out into the restaurant and resort welcoming guests and making sure everyone's needs are catered for. He arranged a special Indian menu for us one evening, cooked by chef Sunil. It was superb; some of the best Indian food we've had. Our kids are usually quite fussy but loved trying new flavours, as well as old favourites such as pizza and pasta on the children's menu. All in all, a wonderful holiday and we'll definitely be back!
