La Flora Patong in Phuket, Thailand

With gardens full of thick vegetation and rooms designed to create a maximum sense of privacy, La Flora Patong feels more remote than its central Patong Beach location. Honeymooners love the pool villas – book one with a loft for maximum space and a blue mosaic-tiled Jacuzzi tub – and the sexy rooftop lounge. Indeed, this is why you choose to stay in central Phuket: the indelible energy of Bangla Street, where restaurants serve up exotic delicacies and the nightlife throbs til dawn. Because sometimes you need more than just the sound of waves on your vacation soundtrack.

Sip on a tropical concoction of guava and melon juice and take an early morning stroll along the beach. Pick up some handmade tapestries from a local merchant, or create your own in a batik painting class. Go parasailing. Feast on fiery red curry-glazed reef fish wrapped in a banana leaf. Watch one of the world’s most elaborate cabaret shows showcasing musical theater from Egypt to China. .

We stayed there with a bunch of friends for 3 nights and were delighted from the start! We were offered a welcome drink as soon as we reached the lobby, the rooms were big and confy with a nice balcony. The location is amazing, 3min walk from Bangla Road (perfect to party during a short stay). The beach is right next door, water was clean and no rocks which was perfect for bathing. The staff were always smiley and helpful. They even arranged to send us an item that we had left behind by mail (to our next stop in Koh Samui). Thank you very everything!

Have been to Thailand many times and rarely encountered unpleasantness or even rudeness. Well there's a first time for everything. Staying at a very nice hotel The Impiana near La Flora. The Impiana doesn't have a gym, but the delightful front of house staff sent me down the road to La Flora to see if I could use their gym (obviously would pay). The receptionist looked at me like I was a vile leprous rat and said emphatically NO. The concierge laughed and said the nearest gym was 2 km away. Over at all over the world and join hotel gyms constantly if I'm staying somewhere without one. For instance, gorgeous beautiful Sala in Koh Samui, I have become a member of their gym for a month while we're staying there. La Flora left horrible taste on my mouth about our visit to Phuket.

We stayed a total of 6 nights here from jan 12th to the 18th. The Hotel itself is nice and the free daily minibar was a +. The access to the beach is great and the staff is very nice. The two things that they could improve on is the beds and the glass as you could hear everything from the streets... ( The beds are too hard for a 5 star hotel) everything else was great, the location is perfect as it is one block away from food, bars, street food etc.

The La Flora hotel is a gem, not only is it a very comfortable resort with very nice rooms that are well furnished and spotlessly clean the location makes it GOLD! Steps away from the busy Patong beach...and right in the heart of the action but as you stepp off the road into the hotel there best asset is on display and thats the attitude of the staff. Each and every staff member we had any interaction with was friendly beyond and could not do enough for us. Especially the way they interacted with our children. Special mentions to Lateefa, Vinai, Pock, Eddie, Duan and Ace (but everyone was great) Breakfast very nice with lots of options, small gym but enough to get by and train...we will 100% return! All the best to the staff, Craig Dena Aaron and Joshua!

If you want to be on the sand and in the heart of things in Patong, yet have a retreat to gather your sanity and relax, this is pretty much the only game in town. Many of the beach places that look nearby on a map will actually require an expensive taxi or longboat ride and a significant amount of time in order to get into the center of town where the nightclubs, bars and excitement are. The reality is that traffic and crowds make it difficult to get up and down the coast quickly. La Flora is at ground zero, walkable to most of the throbbing heart of Patong. The beach right in front of the resort is crowded and lively, and close to the unofficial gay beach for the region. When I wanted more quiet and peace, I walked out on the sand, flagged a longboat within minutes, and was off to Freedom Beach where things were more relaxed, there were less people, and the snorkeling was good. At night, with everyone gone home, it was relaxing to sit out in back of the hotel, watch the ocean, and listen to the waves. The rooms are modern and comfortable. Private patios and balconies are welcome and useful features. My room had a lot of space, with a large king bed, built-in cabinets and desks, and a built-in couch. I arrived to fresh flowers in the room and fresh fruit on a serving platter. Being in a salty beach environment, some wear and tear is visible both inside and out. Overall, though, the place won me over with its comfort and convenience. The service was excellent. Any request was met with almost simultaneous response. Laundry service is reasonably priced with fast turn-around. Front desk staff were friendly and responsive, and the concierge was kind, gracious, and helpful. A security guard out front stepped in to slow traffic on the busy beach road so that guests of the hotel could cross the busy street, which is unregulated by any nearby traffic lights. Breakfast was included in my reservation, and an excellent buffet with an international selection of hot and cold items was laid out for the taking. Patong is as loud as Key West or Bourbon Street, and it is unavoidable that some of that is going to be transmitted into the hotel, especially since the lobby opens to the street. If you want silence and solitude, neither this property nor the center of Patong is for you. But if you want to jump in and join the symphony of parties and celebration, dance until dawn, observe the go-go guys and girls doing there things into the night, and then have a comfortable place to crash where you can wake up to the surf and the sand, then this place is the right call.
