The Naka Phuket in Phuket, Thailand

The only thing that rivals the natural beauty surrounding The Naka Phuket is the architecture designed to enhance it. The resort is stunning – so stunning that it won Best New Hotel in Wallpaper’s 2014 Design Awards – and its mountainous location on the west side of Phuket is far away from city lights. Here the ocean glimmers through the seemingly endless glass expanse of the minimally designed villas, where teak, granite and concrete give them a cool, industrial feel.

Lay in bed and order breakfast – with a view like this, you’re in no hurry to get up. Take a dip in your private plunge pool while listening to the waves crash softly below. Wander through the nearby woods and reward your efforts with a cocktail in the warm sand. Dine on fiery Thai red curry in a restaurant whose décor is just as rich.

Having seen The Naka both in passing and online I was looking forward to my first stay. Sadly The Naka is missing the small touches you’d come to expect from a five star hotel & SPG properties; broken do not disturb sign discarded on the floor inside my room upon check-in, furniture in disrepair, power cords and cables cluttering the TV area, missing room service menu, odd smell in the room, but most shocking was the dismal customer service. Admittedly my booking was made through Expedia as I did not know The Naka was a part of SPG, but even after informing the staff- no recognition of my SPG Platinum status (for almost 10yrs), and even refusal of small requests such as having the hotel Tuk Tuk which transports guests around the resort carry on another 100m past reception up a hill to the Villas next door where my colleagues were staying- flatly denied even though plenty were available. All little issues but enough to disappoint.

The hotel have peaceful environment from the isolate block of each guest room, we really love the view from the room. You can see ocean and the room surrounded by the mountain view give refreshing feeling perfect for break away holiday.

One of the most stunning hotels I have ever visited. The lobby its stunning with beautiful view of the property and villas. The villas are incredible huge and very comfortable. Our villa had such a stunning view. We watch the sunsets from the room and every single sunset was amazing. Each villa have infinity pools and outdoor bathrooms. The architecture and design is so modern and unique. As for the staff, everyone was so nice and friendly! You cannot miss the swing at the beach. I will definitely come back to this hotel in the near future.

Overall: It was a wonderful stay at this resort. Staff are polite and willing to go the extra mile should you require any help. The resort gives you a sense of security since many of the travelers may be worry about the level of security in Thailand. Pros: Check in: you'll be greeted with a cold towel at the lobby. The view is spectacular! I have a wonderful staff, Mink who was assisting me through the process. She also recommended which villa I would most enjoy for my stay. I was allowed to go and view the villa in order to decide on which villa I would most prefer. Thank you for that top class service. You will be escorted in the 'tuk tuk', to your villa. There is literally the only form of transportation for your stay as the hill can be rather steep and it gets really dark at night to walk on your own. You will just need to ring the front desk at anytime during your stay if you need a ride to the restaurant, or to the beach. Villa: Very spacious with indoor and outdoor shower. You have private pool at your unit too. However, it is not ideal to use one of those big floats. Breakfast: Amazing selection with a nice sound of the waves. Couldn't ask for more. Room Service: Delicious & they will come to your villa to collect the dishes once you are done. Thai people are so polite, they will remove their shoes before entering your villa which was nice. Skybar: Very nice little bar with nice snacks. Airport Limousine: I have Mr. Ting assigned to me for both pick up/return and he was super friendly. I would recommend for you guys to ask for him if you are seeking this service from the resort. Thank you Naka for the magical stay, I will be back again for sure.

The hotel is cool style and has amazing ocean view from the room, each room separate from each other very peaceful and private for couple. The service is great and the room is very clean. Not very close to the tourist places in Patong recommend to rent a car if stay in this hotel.
