The Pavilions Phuket in Phuket, Thailand

Moved by the raw beauty of the landscape, husband and wife team Gordon and Daniele Oldham built The Pavilions, Phuket with the intention of creating the ultimate environment for couples who want privacy in Asia’s most popular beach destination. Stylish Zen-inspired interiors in bold shades of black, white and red evoke romance, softened by indigenous fabrics and local art. A 40-foot private infinity pool is big enough for laps, but ideal for an intimate sunrise champagne toast.

Wake to sound of silence – rainforest surrounds you, and in the distance, waves lap the beach. Call for banana pancakes to be delivered to your villa. Float in your pool, looking up at a clear blue sky. Take a midday stroll through tranquil gardens inhabited by Buddha sculptures. Arrange a massage for two that starts with a scrub made from black sesame seeds and honey. Dine on duck confit in red curry lychee sauce as you enjoy 360-degree views of the sea.

Our 3rd trip back to our Favourite private sea view villa resort. Always feels good to be home. We love the personalised service, attentiveness of the staff & a beautiful resort with a wonderful 360* view of the sea & city.

The staff are nice and helpful. We have a very impressive vacation there. Will plan to be back again. The aroma at villa makes us feel so relaxing and thus we have bought quite a few back home. We met some kids at the public pool and probably can feel their joy playing there. Pavilions Phuket is a place for couples and families!

We stayed at The Pavilions in a Spa & Pool Pavilion for 4 nights. I relied heavily on tripadviser review so I will try make this comprehensive for others. PROS: - Airport transfer was fantastic and made you feel special with complimentary water and fruit provided on the trip as well as very friendly driver and host. It was a scenic drive and about 25 minutes. The checkin process was efficient and easy accompanied by a delicious welcome drink. - Staff and the level of service at the resort is very high. They are friendly, smiling and always happy to help. Anything you need is just a call away (requesting a buggy for pickup from the villa, ice bucket, iron, etc all came without any hassle at all). Further to that, the room service left little romantic notes and gifts which made the experience so special. - Villa - wow! This was the nicest villa/room I have ever seen. There was an impressive attention to detail with quality & tasteful furnishings and ornaments. It is very private, clean, over-sized and romantic. I could not recommend it highly enough. - The resort is huge so you need to call a golf buggy to get anywhere but we had no issues with that. The funicular is a fancy touch but when it was raining we could get picked up by the golf buggy from outside our villa. You hardly to need to walk more than a few steps at any time really. - The DVD library was impressive and we borrowed quite a few given it rained about half the time there. The rain did not stop us enjoying our time especially because the villa was so nice and a dip in the pool in the rain was fine. - If you need a supermarket for supplies the one where the shuttle bus drops off is outstanding. We were quite surprised to find such a huge range of quality produce. The Boat Avenue markets are also great and there are a few shops there to explore. CONS: - We had an issue that our transfer went to the wrong airport for both pickup and dropoff (international, not domestic) but that was not their fault. Be warned that your airline ticket may have the wrong airport written! I would have hoped the hotel could have checked this and been one step ahead but we called and sorted it out soon enough. - We really think the shuttle to the shops should operate longer hours. Given the remote location of the resort i'm not sure why it stops around 5.30pm. It means that if you want to go out in the evening (there are quite a few restaurants, Friday night markets and live music to enjoy, etc) then you need to get a taxi home (it's not walking distance or even safe if you wanted to try as there's not footpath by the road). Even if the shuttle ran in the evening but charged a fee that would be preferable to having to try to find a taxi and then risk being ripped off. We also found the shuttle stopped off at a few different spots but it wasn't clear where they were (we went to the beach twice and the drivers dropped us off at different ends of the beach without telling us). A clear map of the area and where the drop off's pickups are would have been very helpful. Note also there is nothing really at the beach except an overpriced club. The beach itself would be very nice if it wasn't so polluted with rubbish. - We were underwhelmed by the dining options on-site that all had limited menus and seemed over-priced for the range and quality that was offered. Cocktails though were very good. - It was nice having the iPod provided in the room linked to the sound system but it would have been even better to have a bluetooth system like so many devices now use so that we could play our own music. - While the staff were very friendly we had some issues with communicating in English. We thought it was especially problematic that some staff working at the front-desk/ reception could not speak English well so we had some miscommunication at times. Despite the cons, we really did love our stay at The Pavilions. It is perfect (and only really suitable) for a couple. Thank you to the friendly staff for their hospitality.

We booked the spa and pool pavilion with spa package and it was fantastic! Travelling with our 2 month old baby who slept comfortably on the day bed whilst we could take turns having massages next door - super convenient! For sleep deprived parents, room service was excellent too. The in-villa BBQ exceeded our expectations - the chef cooked the seafood and meat to perfection. The resort was tranquil and quiet, lots of space so it was a relaxing atmosphere. Staff were fantastic and service was relaxed but excellent - amongst the best we have experienced in Thailand. We loved our stay and will be back.

Lovely gem tucked away. Very tranquil and nice. The range of spa and massages are great. Love the service, staff are conversant in English and attentive. Having the airport transfer is great so you don't have to figure out how to get to the resort. So ideal you don't have to leave the place!
