Reviews for The Pavilions Phuket

Worst Michelin keys experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 10 hours ago

Checking out of the InterContinental to try The Pavilions Phuket turned out to be one of the biggest mistakes of our trip. We chose this hotel largely because of its Michelin Keys recognition, expecting another high-quality luxury experience. Instead, it was an enormous disappointment, and I genuinely cannot understand what criteria it met to receive that distinction. In my opinion, it is completely undeserving of that recognition. To make matters worse, I walked into the hotel and booked directly with them rather than through Booking.com. I assumed that booking directly with the hotel would result in a better guest experience or, at the very least, that they would value guests who chose to book with them. Instead, they simply matched the online rate that was available, and despite choosing to book directly with the hotel, we certainly didn’t feel looked after in any way. I genuinely didn’t want to write a negative review or complain during our stay. However, every part of the experience seemed to uncover another issue, leaving me with no choice but to share our experience. Rather than improving as the stay went on, it became increasingly disappointing. The property feels tired, dated, and in desperate need of a full renovation. The quality of construction and finishes is surprisingly poor for a hotel that markets itself as a luxury resort. The room showed obvious signs of age and neglect, and several of the in-room facilities barely worked. Housekeeping was particularly appalling. We were provided with dirty towels, which is simply unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one claiming to be a luxury resort. The shower drain was blocked, causing water to pool while showering, the in-room speakers sounded blown out and distorted, and even the bed sheets had loose threads coming out of them, giving the impression that basic upkeep and quality control are not priorities. These are maintenance issues that should never have been overlooked. Even the fundamentals were disappointing. The curtains weren’t proper blackout curtains, making it difficult to sleep, and the amenities provided were extremely basic and underwhelming for a property that promotes itself as a luxury retreat. To top it all off, the food was equally disappointing. The apple tart we were served was, quite honestly, one of the worst desserts I’ve had at a hotel. It summed up the overall experience perfectly—far below the standards one would expect from a property carrying Michelin Keys recognition. There was a huge disconnect between the image the hotel projects online and the reality of the experience. The Michelin Keys recognition creates an expectation of exceptional quality, but our stay was the exact opposite. I am genuinely baffled as to how this hotel earned that distinction. Having just stayed at the InterContinental beforehand, the contrast in quality, maintenance, housekeeping, dining, and overall guest experience was impossible to ignore. The difference between the two properties was striking. There are countless better resorts in Phuket that offer newer rooms, better-maintained facilities, higher standards of cleanliness, and significantly better service. I would not return, and I certainly would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a genuinely luxurious stay.

A wonderful experience

This is my fourth stay at Pavilions Phuket and it is an amazing experience. It is totally different to a regular resort hotel as it is set in this hillside forest environment. It never feels crowed or busy and the environment is quite relaxing and serene. There are traditional hotel type rooms that you can book (which I stayed in for the first 10 days) and then moved to a Tropical Pool Villa for the second 18 days when my partner arrived. The hotel rooms are spacious and well appointed, but the Villa's are something else. More like a house size-wise with its own large pool and fantastic views to the Andaman Sea. All the facilities you would expect in a resort and more, from the pool and breakfast venue, gym, spa, restaurants. But what sets Pavilions apart from other hotels (and I have been to Phuket 40+ times over 50 years) is the staff. They are amazing, nothing is too much trouble, always a smile and seemingly a genuine love of the their job. That goes for the reception staff, restaurant staff, front gate monitor, people running around providing golf buggy transport and room attendants. Plus the Spa is incredible and the treatments amazing from amazing people. Special mention of the Alto Restaurant which provides excellent Italian food and service with incredible views. Could not speak more highly of Pavilions and the location is perfect, 5 minutes to Bangtao Beach, 10 minutes to Laguna and 25 minutes to the airport. Highly recommended.

The Pavilions Phuket – Beyond Our Expectations

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Our stay at The Pavilions Phuket was truly one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had. Everything exceeded our expectations. We were a large family and booked four spacious suites. The hotel is absolutely stunning, with a peaceful and luxurious atmosphere that made our vacation unforgettable. The staff were exceptional. Every single employee was kind, professional, welcoming, and always ready to help. Whatever we needed was provided immediately with a smile. Their hospitality made us feel genuinely valued. The cleanliness was simply outstanding—the highest level of cleanliness we have ever experienced. We stayed in five different hotels during our trip, and none of them came close to the impeccable standards of The Pavilions Phuket. The breakfast was amazing, with a wide variety of delicious, high-quality food. It truly felt like a royal breakfast. On the day of our departure, we had to leave very early for the airport, and the hotel thoughtfully prepared breakfast boxes for all of us. This thoughtful gesture perfectly reflects their outstanding service and care for their guests. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed with beautiful handmade jasmine flower bracelets, which made us feel special from the very beginning. The farewell was just as warm and memorable. Our stay also coincided with our wedding anniversary, and the hotel surprised us with a wonderful celebration that made the occasion even more meaningful. It was such a thoughtful and unforgettable touch. I highly recommend The Pavilions Phuket to anyone visiting Phuket. If we return to Phuket, we will definitely stay at this hotel again. Thank you to the entire team for making our family vacation so special and unforgettable!
