About the Hotel

The Slate is no ordinary beachside resort of thatched-roof cabanas – in its secluded location against a backdrop of dense rainforest, it crosses into the territory of cutting-edge design hotel, and the juxtaposition of nature and industry is alluring. The inspiration for The Slate came from owner Wichit Na-Ranong, whose ancestors led the country’s development through the tin mining industry. Na-Ranong pays tribute to “black gold” through sleek architecture and dark color motifs punctuated by objets d’art. Restaurants Rivet and Rebar, led by chef Fabrizio Crocetta, serve up some of Thailand’s most innovative and eclectic fare.

WONDERFUL HOTEL AND FIRST CLASS EXPERIENCE

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 19 hours ago

WOW What can I say it was the most wonderful stay we have had in a hotel in a very long time. We cannot fault the hotel in any way from the front desk staff to housekeeping and all the wait staff. First Class. We stayed in a Pearl Bed suite for 3 nights, did not want to leave !!! The rooms are so comfortable and interesting with all of the artwork and fittings a real feast for your eyes. We could not complain about anything from the fluffy towels, comfy bed, dressing gowns, spacious room, verandah, comfy chairs and views across the garden. Its paradise. Loved coming across different artworks walking through the gardens it seems there is something new at every twist and turn to look at. We ate at the Tin Mine for breakfast, lunch and dinner, top class food and service at reasonable prices for a 5 star hotel. Our indulgence one evening was Black Ginger where we opted for The Phuket Indulgence set menu...wonderful experience from start to finish. The hotel pools, and grounds are very well kept and a pleasure to walk through even in the heat. At pool number 2, adults only we loved the swim up bar, lovely cold towels and fruit kebabs were on offer. The hotel is within a short walk to Nai Yang beach area, which is a lovely beach offering a few restaurants, small supermarkets and food stall. We lounged on beach loungers for a couple of hours each morning which was very pleasant but wanted to get back to the ambience of the resort. Looking forward to our next stay in August of this year, very excited to discover more. A tip for those with mobility issues this may not be the resort for you as there are numerous steps especially if staying on the second-floor rooms.

One of the best resorts in Phuket

All round amazing experience. The resort and the rooms are stunningly designed around an industrial style (you might get a little lost on occasion but I could think of worse places to be lost). Every single staff member is friendly and accommodating. The restaurants and bars are distinctively different but all wonderful in their own way. The gym is great and well looked after. The resort also backs onto Nai Yang beach which gives you generous local flavour on a stunning beach with a great mix of restaurants and food trucks. This is one of the best resorts in Phuket.

2 days in Paradise!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Wow! I’m still here and tonight is my last day. Only stayed couple of nights, wish it was at least a week! This place is very unique, tropical paradise but luxurious and designed superbly. Service, quality of breakfast, Black Ginger Thai restaurant and 3 pools were the highlights for me. Spa is next level. Highly recommend it!

Very relaxing at a quality resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

We spent 14 very enjoyable nights in a Pearl Suite room that was spacious both inside and on the balcony, which overlooked number 2 pool. Breakfast is what you would expect from a 5 star hotel and the staff were very friendly. Spent most of our days at number 3 pool, where we were served very well by Ian who each day brought us cold water, towels and fruit, which was very much appreciated. With the exception of Black Ginger where we ate once, we availed ourselves of the restaurants just outside the hotel on the beach, who provided very good food at reasonable prices. Black Ginger was a very enjoyable experience, although the Black Ginger set menu was disappointing both on flavour and cohesion of dishes. Overall had a very relaxing time and the staff are a credit to the Resort. Thank you so much for a very enjoyable 14 nights.

Paradise resort in Phuket paradise

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

We have enjoyed a perfect stay repeated times. Staff and service is smooth and correct. Hotel amenities including a star restaurant are fully available as per every wish and well maintained. Special compliments we will give to the best dive shop in thailand, located in the resort area. The hotel resort itself you can call paradise in paradise just a jump away from the scenic beach. Children are missing already the slate - we will surely come back and enjoy.
