Sri Panwa in Phuket, Thailand

Perched high atop Cape Panwa, villas at Sri Panwa feel like tropical rainforest tree houses – on three sides, glass windows reveal a panoramic expanse of the Andaman Sea and a terrace infinity pool melts into the horizon. A white sand beach invites long lounging days at the bottom of the craggy hillside, while at the very top a sexy rooftop bar beckons with the perfect sundowner cocktail. If a postcard of paradise could be three dimensional, this is what it would look like.

Slip into the cool water of your infinity pool directly from bed. On the horizon, verdant islands shimmer in the sun. Take a mid-morning nap on the deck as tropical birds rustle in the trees. Spend the rest of the afternoon lounging at the Pool Club, one of CNN International's top two beach bars in the world. Feast on a Chinese fondue-style hotpot with a table of friends before dancing til daybreak at Baba88.

Anantara Mai Khao is a great hotel, but Sri Panwa is at least another level above Anantara. My wife and I had read through the reviews of all the luxury hotels, and we ended up choosing Sri Panwa over Banyan Tree Double pool. After staying 4 nights at Sri Panwa Luxury Pool Villa, we are very glad that we have chosen this hotel. Sri Panwa Luxury Pool Villa may be the best villa in Thailand. It may be quite difficult to find another villa to match with it. We stayed at LV-11 Angel as well. I would call it “The Heaven”. Stunning sunrise view, absolute privacy, limited insects comparing to other hotels, huge Jacuzzi bathtub are just some of the highlights of this villa. Cooking class- I would definite recommend it. We had a fun experience with a private section, and we could enjoy the food afterwards with a stunning view. Since the meal was too large for us, the chef assistant packed the leftovers for us and sent to our villa, and we could finish it for dinner. (Tuktuk can be quite busy during the peak hours especially at noon. We waited 20 mins and were late for the cooking class.) The Cool Spa was also great. We only were able to try once. We wanted to enjoy again, but it was fully booked, so I would recommend booking the spa at least one day in advance. We also tried the Baba Nest. We were on the waiting list, and we were able to get a table on the first evening. While many guests enjoy the Baba Nest, we found a bit pricey and the sunset view was not as good as I expected. It is worth an experience but don’t be disappointed if you are not able to get a reservation. Anyways, well done to the Sri Panwa team!

Sri Panwa is a blessing from start to end. We booked 10 nights in a Luxury Ocean Villa, and ended up in LV-11 'Angel', a sunrise location with panoramic views of the Andaman Sea. With a comfortable hotel shuttle pick-up from the airport, things start of smooth. With this being our first time in Asia, and specifically Thailand - we were over the moon with the hospitality level on the resort. Everybody makes you happy to be there. When the skies are grey, no worries because their friendly salutes will cheer you up in no-time. We were kind of mind blown how it would be for a Thai to visit certain Western countries and undergo the complete lack of hospitality. Anyhow, after an enthusiastic welcome and briefing - our tuktuk brought us to our private piece of heaven on earth. A villa with living area, kitchen, two bathrooms, steam sauna, swimming pool, outside shower, jacuzzi,.. it felt like you had so many places to relax and enjoy the endless views of the Andaman Sea. We were again welcomed by our personal assistant, who would be on speed dial. Just as you would have the kitchen, front desk and recreation team on speed dial. Everybody is ready to provide you the time of your life. Because my girlfriend (and since this trip fiance;) has a pretty severe case of seasickness, we didnt do anything by boat - which would normally be very recommendable. We did visit a market and a few local muay thai gyms. All of which was perfectly arranged by the recreation team, you would have a private driver, who would wait for you while you were on location. For a little additional cost, perfect service. On the resort, we visited pretty much every restaurant, enjoyed the pools, and beach. The beach is not really anything special, but again great service and perfect views. If you would prefer a special beach, they would probable bring you to one in a heartbeat. We also had roomservice many times in the villa, only one time they forgot about our order, so it was a little late. They skipped to charge it for us because of it. Again great service. The gym, we also used - has pretty much everything you might need. The Cool Spa was also amazing, in a total we went 4-5 times. Of which we had 7 extremely fantastic experiences, 2 were very much under par. But they'll probable have that figured out themselves quite soon. If you would go to Sri Panwa, i would definitely advice to book at least a Luxury Ocean villa. Our villa, with a little additional charge would also be perfectly fine for a couple with kids. Baba Nest is great for drinks and the view. People do tend to go crazy on their phones a little too much. Overall the experience was super, we also met briefly with the Managing Director, Mr Issara. Just like everyone in his team, an amazing character. Thanks for the great experience, we really enjoyed it.

Friday business at this location is almost like not working at all. Great view, friendly staff, nice food and beverage menus here. Location is only minus but totally worth to get here. Nice pool area also with infinity pool.

We love the vibe of the resort, relaxing, lots of pool area and beautiful decor. Our room had an amazing view looking out to the ocean and it was spacious and the bed was nice and big. We also enjoyed the breakfast, good mix of local and western food, fresh juices and champagne! And Baba Nest - breathtaking heavenly views, an absolute must-do! The staff are generally friendly and smiley. However, as we paid a premium to stay, we really expected that it would be more luxurious. I hope the hotel can improve on the following: 1) Better toilet amenities - They were not really up to a 5star resort standard. We had shower gel and shampoo in those shared big bottles and when we opened it up it wasn't exactly the cleanest so we didn't use it. The shower cap smelt like pesticide and the mini toothpaste had a really weird smell too. Bathroom is very clean but the shower head needs a proper cleaning! 2) 2 days before we arrived, we were notified by the hotel, not allowing us to stay in the Ocean View Suite as we have my 5 month old infant with me. They said it's adults only, but our booking via Agoda said nothing like this. So parents please TAKE NOTE! Quite troubling to deal with this on our first trip with baby!

The whole arrival experience was good and well managed. We stayed in a Family Villa with Pool and Sea View (FS01-1), we had a wonderful view of the Marine Station Pier and Dock, wonderful for a Luxury Villa! The villa (not a villa just a large room) was very comfortable and well stocked with everything you needed for your stay. The maid service was very good we complained about one or two things (basically an oversight) which was corrected immediately. The housekeeping room maid was good. If you wanted to go most places within the resort you called a buggy as it was very hilly, not somewhere for anyone with a walking disability We had a Butler who we saw probably twice during our stay, if we wanted anything we called reception as our 'Butler' never checked with us to see if everything was OK or not! We paid in advance directly with the hotel (108,000 baht) and on check-in we were told that it was mandatory to pay a deposit of 5,000 baht per night and we were staying for 5 nights and had to deposit 25,000 baht in cash or by credit card, nowhere is this mentioned even on the confirmation of booking? We only spent about 7,000 baht of the 25,000 baht that we deposited with tem and up to now 10 days later the balance still has not been credited to our account! Breakfast had a good selection of Asian and Western Food, the main dish you ordered in the 5 times we went they only got our order correct once! The staff tried their hardest but were very inexperienced, basically trainee's, definitely not Luxury Service that we were paying for! Would we go back again, probably yes as it was very relaxing and we were lucky with the weather. During the check-out process we mention the above complaint to Geovanni and he said that the deposit was not mandatory and in respect of service in the Poolside Breakfast Restaurant they had had recent complaints and that he would mention our complaints to management, to date we have not received communications from the hotel.
