Sri Panwa in Phuket, Thailand

Perched high atop Cape Panwa, villas at Sri Panwa feel like tropical rainforest tree houses – on three sides, glass windows reveal a panoramic expanse of the Andaman Sea and a terrace infinity pool melts into the horizon. A white sand beach invites long lounging days at the bottom of the craggy hillside, while at the very top a sexy rooftop bar beckons with the perfect sundowner cocktail. If a postcard of paradise could be three dimensional, this is what it would look like.

Slip into the cool water of your infinity pool directly from bed. On the horizon, verdant islands shimmer in the sun. Take a mid-morning nap on the deck as tropical birds rustle in the trees. Spend the rest of the afternoon lounging at the Pool Club, one of CNN International's top two beach bars in the world. Feast on a Chinese fondue-style hotpot with a table of friends before dancing til daybreak at Baba88.

We stayed at Sri Panwa in a pool villa for 6 nights. I’ll still give Sri Panwa 5 stars for the following reasons: 1) Pool Villa was perfect. We loved the infinity pool, steam room, free unlimited bar fridge (except proseco), the playlist, the bed, view, etc! A lot of attention to detail was put into the design and curation of the place. Well done! 2) facilities were great including the gym, baba nest (if you can get a spot), the habitat pool, the spa and pool club. Fitted out well which made the stay so much more enjoyable 3) the staff were friendly, helpful and always had a smile. In particular Toon the head gym staff was very helpful! Thank you. The staff at baba nest were also helpful in resolving an issue I had. The general staff including drivers and ground keepers were all friendly and helpful... also the trainees - Big!?! 4) the buffet breakfast was filling and had a lot of options. The Thai options were pretty good. Some were authentic Thai while some were tailored for Europeans. 5) loved our beach bag and hat. Wish got a t shirt too! Areas for improvement: 1) to be classified as a top 5 star let alone six star hotel the service must be on point. We had issues on the first day with our orders in which breakfast was served an hour later including beverages. I also noticed complaints by other customers in relation to incorrect orders over the few days 2) the beach was lacking. I’m unsure how you can improve the beach. I guess it is what it is... 3) location is a bit out of the way if you want authentic Thai food, which we were after. Have more authentic Thai options 4) access to Baba nest and the pool club was limited at times due to private events or limited capacity. You should inform guests to book in advance as they have invested a lot of time and money. We had an issue with our booking for Baba nest as we apparently only booked for sunset lounge and not baba nest. I did not budge and disputed the booking. Fortunately the male staff (Lok?) was flexible and was able to fit us in. Thank you... much appreciated. Though my fury had already unleashed. I’d like to come back with the wider family, but will need to convince the other half as she was unhappy with the service and access to certain facilities. Thank you for the memorable time!

I cannot explain our experience with sri panwa! My husband and I had our wedding there, all completed through the wonderful Take Us To Thailand. And let me tell you. WOW. Sri panwa is perfection. The rooms, the decor, the views, restaurants pools, staff etc are second to none. It’s the best hotel we have ever stayed in and our wedding was phenomenal. All our guests raves about the food, drinks, attentiveness of staff. The hotel manager Suki is friendly, professional and lovely ! One visit to Sri panwa and you know why it stands out from the rest. And honestly, as far as 5 star hotels go, value for money- yes. The food etc is more reasonably priced than 4 star hotels I’ve stayed in Phuket. Cannot fault sri panwa. 10/10. Love!

I have pics to show all is not be made up from upset American family. We planned this trip a year in advance and was requested by resort to pay in advance for what we thought would be our 3 days rest relaxation. Suppose to be 2 master suites with infinity pool to find out it was a 2 bedroom pool villa. We check in to find this is the oldest building they have , stunk from mold and kitchen was filthy. We , my wife and I celebrating our 37th wedding anniversary and a gift to my son and daughter in law. Their room( 2 flights stairs down to a 10 x 10 poured cement wall with 5' doorwall with cracks in the walls filled with ants ( more like a Mexican prison cell you see in movies) exhausted they wanted take hot shower ( none it was cold and probably because this unit was not rented for awhile all the bugs, insects came up the drain and filled the shower area and their bedroom. We refused to keep them imprisoned in this cell. Mgmt ( only 1 person spoke enough English to converse with us) said resort completely filled no rooms available. I said this is unacceptable after we already paid in advance $ 4500 US dollars of my hard earned money. They found 1 room they could move my children to after 9PM but to stay in that room for another 2 nights they would be charging me like $ 1000 dollars US nightly ( their discounted rate). I explained many times I already paid $ 4500 and could not use the second room I prepaid for. The room I had to stay in for my wife was under the weather, after I complained several times the kitchen was infested with bugs, they cleaned several times and put in a plug in insect devise to scare?? them away. Food for room service was left outside my door for 12 hours while outside animals enjoyed. I did not sleep in the bedroom with my wife for 3 nights as I stayed up with lights on trying to shush away all the lizards coming into kitchen area ) adjacent to the bedroom, entering through windows, ceiling vent etc. After service would come clean dishes the next morning their cleaned dishes left on countertop were loaded with ants and whatever else these bugs were. I went to the pool at the Habitat which is the newest part of this resort. Pool was great and few other guest bragged that resort offered them 50% discounts to extend their stays, I was put off again requesting 2 rooms at Habitat but informed fully booked and they could not rent my 2 bed villa that soon. The fact they already were paid by me $ 4500 they still kept demanding more funds for additional room for they thought I was unreasonable not to use the second room ( i call a dungeon) I have pics to document all of this. We stayed there around xmas holiday 2017 and my travel agent and owner of Asia Adventures ( which highly recommended this resort) tried to work out something fair for all of us with no avail but the resort would not refund any or part of additional monies. This resort does not deserve any US dollars. There are plenty of other resorts that appreciate our tourism and know truly how to handle customer service issues. Howard / Ilene Max/ Caryn

That should say a lot. The views are really amazing and would be good for a few nights honeymoon, or some romantic few days. The check-in was really non-plussed about anything, we were taken care of by a very sweet young lady. Our butler Thomas was excellent and the rooms were outstanding. The downstairs to our villa which was the second bedroom, tends to get hot and little buggy ,if you keep the sliding glass door open.Top floor has infinite pool, big living room and kitchen. The master bedroom is huge and expansive with windows all around and fabulous views. Then the beach, well kind of none existent. Very rocky and lots of coral bottom. So I had to walk out on the overwater wopple bridge, (not for the hard of walking.) Then jumped in deeper water and swam to shore. The walk down the steps and back up, can be strenuous and hard on the knees.Breakfast in the main area, was very disappointing. Nothing really special, and mundane choices. Can use some more excitement for breakfast, maybe because it is included, they don't have to lay out major spread. Has great potential, but not nearly there yet.Very pricey and needs upgrades in the above area's to continue getting those prices.

My husband i stayed here in the 1st week of Jan to celebrate my birthday and the start of 2018. Check in process was efficient. We were asked to put down a deposit for incidentals. We paid cash since some reviews mentioned that they take a long time torefund amount on your credit card. The positives and negatives of the resort are listed below POSITIVES: - the views are stunning from almost wherever you go. - since the resort is very spread out, you meet very few people , thereby give you a very peaceful experience - prosecco is includes for breakfast!!! Oh yes please! - Staff are helpful and friendly-always smiling - we had a thank you letter sent to our room on our last night and the duty manager came to take our feedback and bid us adieu when we left in the morning. This was a very nice touch. - wifi was very good across rhe resort - technology in the room and bathroom amenities were good - the mini bar is free of charge and is replenished everyday - the swimming pools are amazing. NEGATIVES 1. We had booked a pool suite and the room description on their webiste said it had a king bed. However, what we got was two single beds put together. We had to sleep on it that night, since we onky realized it when we got into bed. This was unacceptable so we spoke to them only to be told that the picture shows two beds. Hello! Your description says otherwise. With much persistence from my husband, they had our room changed. But do check the nicely made up bed when you get there and dont presume it is what you booked. 2. There was an additional surcharge of 10% on room service menu over and above the usual taxes. I have never seen this in any hotel. This is no way to encourage people to dine in the restaurants. We ordered room service one night and the food came cold. 3. The drinks at their rooftop bar ( baba's nest) are overpriced as compared to rest of the resort and the food is shocking. There are lovely restaurants just outside the resort gate with amazing food. 4. The staff need training in eglish as most of them dont speak english, which affects the service. To sum it up, we paid premium price of 1000$ a night due to peak season. It sure wasn't value for money and you can stay elsewhere for this price. Though it was suppose to be 5 star luxury, it certainley didnt feel so. I would not come back to stay here.
