As seasoned travellers we've seen more hotels than we can count, but the Twin Palms resort in Surin is one we certainly won't forget. Here is why: first the warm welcome with an ice cold towel to recresh followed by a nice chilled glass of bubblies, welcome flower garland, then they lead you to the most perfectly appointed hotelroom with a superking bed, bose speaker system and bathroom with monsoon shower, oh and there was also pool access directly from your terrace. The staff go through all the amenities on offer suchbas a fully equipped gym, beach butler, spa and so on and show you around your room. The Staff from the front desk to breakfast and in between were always genuinely friendly and went out of their way to make you feel home away from home - highly trained and very professional. Each night there was a turn down service complete with chocolates and ice for those night caps on your poolside deck. Room service was excellent, refilling all the bathroom products, folding away messy clothes. There is also complimentary secure parking under the building and security staff are excellent. Only downside was the beach itself (which is not really the fault of the resort), but Surin beach could do with a bit of a clean-up. It certainly wasn't a beach where you want to roll out your towel and spend the day in the sun. The resort pool on the other hand is as good as it gets with ample selection of recliners and pool bar. Would definitely recommend to stay here if you are looking for a relaxing resort type holiday.

The room was spacious and beautifully appointed with a huge comfy bed. Loved the oversize bathroom and pool access from our private patio. Onsite facilities were great, and shuttles to beach clubs were nice. The pool area was gorgeous and food was good, though pricey. Service was top notch as well. Highly recommend it if you're looking for a relaxing spot.

We spent one week in Twinpalms Phuket and enjoyed it a lot. The premises and rooms are impeccable. The pool area is very comfortable (except the old sun beds which have been commented here many times), breakfast is good. Free fruit buffet every afternoon was a nice touch. Service is simply outstanding. They really do everything they can, and more. One can feel oneself a real king there. I didn't want to leave! :-) Negative things. The location is away from the sea and one has to take shuttle buses to the beach. The wine prices are criminal in these places. Though this must be more the fault of the government policy.

Just walking into the foyer of Twinpalms and seeing the pool area beyond it is fabulous—as with most five star Thai resorts, it's a calm oasis compared to the noise and heat of the streets. The welcome was warm and our grand deluxe pool room was worth the splurge: spacious, quiet, light, clean, luxurious without being ostentatious. The breakfast selection was great (complete with champagne, if you want it) and the gym was modern and big (although sometimes not stocked with towels). The atmosphere was super quiet, which was fine during the day, but the vibe around the pool at what is usually cocktail hour was restrained and a bit odd. There's no music or drink specials, and we weren't sure if this is to keep things 'classy' or to encourage people to decamp to one of Twinpalms's sister venues. We caught the shuttle one night to the Catch Bar, which would be at home beachside in Cannes—very white and sophisticated, with deadpan staff, men in polo tops yelling at each other about banking and Eurotrash tunes. It's fun, but once was enough. Surin is an okay beach but a couple of corners away is Laem Singh beach, which is more secluded and still fringed by jungle. There's a convenience store nearby but the choice of non-touristy restaurants is limited. We hired a scooter and rode for ten minutes at night to find more authentic food. For us, the best asset was guest relations guru Ben, who remembered our names from day one, was concerned but not stalky about our comfort and Twinpalms experiences, and was super patient and efficient when I left my IPod behind when we left. FedEx wouldn't send it to Australia because it has an inbuilt battery so Ben organised for the music to be put onto a USB and sent to me. Would we go back? Yes.

Very nice welcome as you arrive to the hotel although check in process can be a little quicker. Good escort to the room with great explanation of how everything works in the room and hotel. Staff very polite and smiling. Rooms were in great condition with good wifi and TVs with movies and music at your service. Pool works well and is the fundamental piece to the hotel. Ideally you want a room on the ground floor by the pool. As those rooms you can swim into your room. Sounds weird but you will see what I mean. Surin area is a great area to be based next to 4 close by beaches. Restaurants in hotel are all good but a bit quiet . Breakfast does the job nicely. Transport provide s to catch (cool bar and beach) and HQ at Kampala beach all very handy. Scooter s to hire near by too if into it. Shop around for rates as they are there !! You will enjoy this hotel great for kids too.
