Stay away!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

Not a Fairmont standard. Stay away. We love Fairmont hotels (all around the world). Pittsburgh Fairmont is not a Fairmont strandart. We had a reservation for an Easter Brunch. After our arrival, we have been told the can pick only from the breakfast menu and that we have only one hour to stay there!!! The food was very poor - eggs Benedict were hard boiled eggs, served with cold potatoes cooked couple days ago. Steak was fully cooked, evethough we asked for medium. The whole Easter Brunch was an absolute disaster. I have contacted the manager (Aleksa Thomas) multiple times. She promised a refund. A month later, there is no refund and she is not responding to my emails.

Well stayed

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

I go to Pittsburg regularly and Fairmont is the place to stay for me. Every time everything went smoothly except my last time. Arrived Saturday around 2pm and I could get into my room around 7:30pm. This was not a nice experience after 15hrs overseas travelling. After several times asking about the status of my room and have finally decided to complain. Front desk person was not really helpful but and asked her to escalate her manager then all got sorted out. Nevertheless, I will definitely come back again.

Overpriced, average hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Not sure why this hotel is ranked 5 stars. It was 3 stars at best. The bed was quite nice although the room was average. I stayed for 3 nights and there was no service at all for any of the nights (no change of bedsheets, no change of towels, etc.). This may be some environmental policy where you need to "opt-in", but typically at 5 star hotels like these you would at least have the courtesy of being informed of this at check-in, or being called by the front desk after the first night to double check. Upon checking in for my king room reservation, I was instead downgraded to a double bed instead because they "ran out" of rooms. Only after being persistent, somehow a king room opened up in their system. On my second night, all 3 elevators broke down and there was a mob of guests with no way to get to their rooms. Also be aware that after 1 AM, they lock the doors to the hotel (with no way for guests to otherwise enter, e.g. with their keycard) and the single staff working the reception was away from the lobby when I wished to enter. Overall, I found it very hard to justify the $1,300 price I paid for 3 nights. Having traveled all around the world, particularly outside the U.S., you'll find the quality of service and the rooms themselves to be significantly better for a hotel branding itself as 5 stars. Maybe because it's Pittsburgh, maybe because it's the United States, but at least the price should be reflected accordingly. Throughout my stay, there was no attentiveness or effort towards service... at this point, one could just stay at an Airbnb for significantly cheaper.

Nicely Located

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Nicely located next to the Market Square. The hotel is much like a full-service Marriott not super high end, but it’s nice. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The TV’s Chrome Cast (once you figured it out) was a nice feature. Hotel itself was quiet.
