It was a great trip headlined by Jesus at the beach - nothing like coming to the beach to meet and be cared for by Jesus - amen

Our experience at the Banyan Tree was exceptional and made even more special because of Gamaliel. From the moment we arrived at the beach, he welcomed us with such warmth and kindness that we immediately felt at home. He treated us like royalty while making us feel like family. He was always checking in to make sure we had everything we needed, often anticipating our requests before we even had to ask. Every interaction was met with a genuine smile, incredible attentiveness, and a level of care that truly stood out. Gamaliel’s outstanding hospitality made our stay so much more enjoyable. He is a tremendous asset to the Banyan Tree, and we are so grateful for the exceptional service he provided. Thank you for making our vacation unforgettable!

Large, clean, well designed and well maintained suites in a unique location carved out of the mangroves in the master planned Mayakoba community. Water from the cenotes keeps the canals clean and clear. Free boat rides - tours and water taxis to the other Mayakoba hotels are a nice touch. Restaurants have high quality Italian, Thai and Mexican food. Beach is kept clean even during June seagrass season. Wildlife, especially early morning birds creates a nice atmosphere. Grounds are well kept, especially considering it is in a jungle. Dedicated bicycles for each guest are nice. There are no low cost food options ($50 cheeseburgers/$40 taco plates). There are a lot of erosion control barriers in the ocean that are required but that are not pleasant to look at and seem to create mini ponds of stagnant water during some low tides. Service is functional and generally fast but not spectacular. We had a really terrible welcome experience that set a bad tone for us and put a cloud over our weekend stay. Although the management team offered generous service recovery, it still wasted half of our first day and made us not very enthusiastic about the hotel from the beginning. That is the feeling we took away with us. Overall, it is a solid four star hotel but nothing that sets it apart from several thousand other high end properties across the world.
