I am not even sure where to begin.....We are sadly preparing to leave Banyan Tree Mayakoba tomorrow afternoon and my husband and I keep saying that the week just went by too fast. From the moment that you enter this property, a sense of peace and tranquility envelops you! We have stayed in many fabulous hotels before but nothing will ever compare to Banyan Tree Mayakoba! We stayed in the serenity pool villa, which included a jacuzzi alongside our private pool and a fabulous private pavilion/den. Our villa was so beautifully appointed and had so much room, that we never felt confined or limited in space, especially when we were hit with a couple of days of rain, giving us a chance to have room service delivered to our pavilion, where we were able to eat at a dining room table and chairs. And lighting the candles in the room and incense every day, brought even more peace and tranquility to our vacation. Make sure to take advantage of the bicycles assigned to your villa. It is fun to ride around the property with a bike and just explore. We loved the gifts left for us each day and night by housekeeping and they made every effort to attend to all of our needs, even asking what time we wanted our room cleaned and what time we wanted evening service as well. Every single restaurant on property has fabulous food and portions are always plentiful! They even have table lights, eyeglasses, bug spray and wraps for you if you are cold - all to make your dining experience pleasurable and easy. The pools are beautiful and the beach is fabulous. The sand is soooo soft and never felt hot on our feet. We loved the bottled water left in coolers by your beach chairs! Make sure to order the catch of the day one afternoon at the beach. They will cook the fresh fish to your liking and the food is sooooo plentiful that you might want to reconsider dinner that evening!!! But one of the most fabulous parts of this property is the staff. First of all, Juan Carlos, the assistant manager, is one of the nicest people on earth! After meeting us on our first or second day, he went out of his way to greet us by name and was always interested in what we had to say and share about our visit. He is truly a wonderful man, who clearly loves his job and appreciates his guests and his Staff. Every employee goes out of their way to learn your name and greet you like a friend throughout your stay. We had so many wonderful encounters, with so many of the employees at Banyan Tree Mayakoba, but the ones who left their mark on us most of all were: Jesus and Cesar - our two favorite buggy drivers Gabriel and Pablo - from breakfast each morning Perla - from Cello Arturo - from Tomahawk Edwin - from the main pool Bernardo - from Sands and HAAB Moises - from recreation and HAAB Marcos, Miguel, Ivan, Julio and Francisco - from Sands We hope to return to Banyan Tree Mayakoba many times and we have no doubt that we will be sharing and suggesting to all of our friends and family, that this is indeed, a property worth visiting!!!

We had a two bedroom villa with our own pool. Our villa was beautiful and very comfortable. Food here is great and we were not worried about the tainted alcohol issues plaguing other resorts in the area. We did catch a raccoon red handed going through our mini bar. So heed the warnings and keep your villa doors secure. This was our third visit to this resort and we will be back.

My husband and I spent 5 AMAZING nights at Banyan Tree Mayakoba in May 2017 to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary! After researching for months, decided we would give it a try! Now being more "beach" people than "pool", thought we wouldn't like being so far away from the beach. It actually ended up being such a blessing! We spent everyday at their beautiful pool, relaxing and just soaking the sun in! Our waiter, Arturo, made everyday so much better! Always had a friendly smile and ready to make our days as enjoyable as possible! We did try their spa facilities! The Rainforest experience was definitely a good way! Take the time to try it. It was nice that you were able to go through it with you significant other. If it were crowded, I could see it being a little more awkward. But didn't have this problem! Rooms! Breathtaking! We had their basic villa...still AMAZING! And for 2...plenty of room! LOVED the outdoor bathtub! Beautiful lit up at night. We had them fill it with rose petals and it smelled HEAVENLY out there! Restaurants...definitely get your breakfast included! Hands down THE BEST BREAKFAST! And I love my breakfast! So many choices and gracious servers! We did eat at a few of their restaurants outside. I guess being in the waterways brings out the mosquitoes. We got eaten alive a few nights! Just pack bug spray! Really wasn't THAT big of a deal, but spray would do the trick! All in all, LOVED this property! Beautiful and very romantic! Loved the food, and service...especially Arturo...was PHENOMENAL!!

fantastically large and private rooms. Make sure you get one with the heated pool. Food is good if not notably expensive. We have been three times and keep returning for 3 or 4 night stays to get away as a couple.
