My wife and stayed at the resort for 6 days in July 2017. When we arrived we were met by our hostess Gena. She explained the check-in process and escorted us to La Copa Bar where we grabbed a quick bite. Gena asked if we were celebrating anything. I told her my wife's birthday and our anniversary. When we were done eating we were escorted to our villa in a golf cart by a bell boy and Gena. When we walked through the door of the villa, calming music was playing and my wife was blown away when she saw the bed was covered in rose petals. Wish I could say I planned that, but it was Gena. The villa is a very nice size with a private pool, a king size bed, sitting area, large closet and walk in closet with a safe. We had most of our meals at the restaurants at the resort. All restaurant staff we met were very courteous and efficient. We were never left waiting for anything for too long. The food was very good. We visited the private hotel beach on several days and ate at the Sands restaurant. All the staff at the beach were very helpful and courteous. There was one day when we were waiting for a ride back from the beach to our villa. A staff member walked by asked if we had been helped. We told him yes and our ride was called. He walked by a few minutes later and said he would take us back instead. Now that is top notch customer service. He took it upon himself to step up and provide the service. We only had a couple of minor maintenance issues. The front desk was called and they had someone respond within a few minutes. The customer service here is exceptional. The maids provide turn down service every night and the lights are turned down and calming music is playing. On our last evening, there was a small birthday cake waiting for my wife in the room. Again, I did not request this, but it was Gena providing that extra touch. The grounds and common areas of the hotel are high end, clean and well maintained. One thing I always take notice of is the cleanliness of the hotel restrooms in the common areas. All the restrooms were immaculate and well stocked. Overall, it was the best couples vacation my wife and I have had. When you are spoiled and provided with this type of service, it is going to be difficult to top. We did not want to leave, and my wife has said she wants to return soon. The only draw back, is the mosquitos. Make sure you use the spray regularly, or you will get bitten.

I am well travelled, but don't review often. This resort certainly exceeded my already high expectations. Wonderful villa. Truly exceptional service. Fantastic restaurants. Pros: 1. The Villa. Great design. Great amenities. Swim up private pool was great. Outdoor space was very relaxing. The layout created great privacy. Wonderful shower/bath/bathroom setup. 2. The Restaurants. Breakfast buffet at the Oriente was exceptional for a hotel buffet. Exceptional not just for the selection but for the quality of the food. Omelet and quesadilla stations were good, but selection of cold and hot items were excellent. Saffron is even better than advertised. Appetizer platter, Pad Thai, and everything else were amazing. Having been to fine places in SF and China, this was easily better. Also enjoyed the Cello and The steakhouse. 3. The Service. Not sure how they do it, but top to bottom, all of the staff is helpful and attentive without being pushy or intrusive. No one speaks to you without a smile. All requests were followed up on effortlessly. Cons: 1. Buggy. You have to take a buggy (golf cart) from most of the rooms to the beach and restaurants. Annoying at times. 2. AC in the restaurants. We sat inside to avoid the potential mosquito threat. Saffron AC was excellent, the others a bit challenged. Not bad but not perfect. 3. Seaweed in the water. Lots of it. They try hard to clean it up, but still a lot. Fabulous beach and crystal warm water, but something to know. Didn't slow us down. These are not really cons, just nits. Highly recommend this place.

I've stayed at a lot of lovely places but none ever had the attention to detail and service like this resort. It is absolutely lovely! The villas are so amazing and spacious. My friends and i shared a 3br Villa. The pool on the roof was small but perfect. The sounds of the birds added to the ambiance... I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a romantic get-away or a great family/friends location. The bikes that come with each villa were so fun and the perfect way to get to the amazing breakfast buffet each day. I can't wait to return and i highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special get-away!

We have had the pleasure of staying at the Banyan Tree Mayakoba for the past four days. We could not stop commenting how impeccable and attentive the staff and general service has been. Ivan, Marcus and Alejandro at the beach club were incredibly hospitable and tended to our every need. They would anticipate our desires before we even asked by bringing our favorite drinks, fresh scented face towels to the beach on a hot day and were always making sure that we were taken care of without us asking for their attention once. Laura the concierge was also a delight and helped up plan multiple activities during our stay including the in villa BBQ which was a treat. The property was incredibly well kept. My overuse of adjectives is necessary because I can't say enough good things about this experience. From the bikes given to you at check in to the well appointed villa with private pool, we will certainly be back. The most challenging thing about this experience is deciding whether to hang out at the beach club or in your private villa. My last recommendation is to take the mangrove tour that goes off from The reception area every hour. It's a beautiful tour and worth it because it's free!

My husband and I came to Banyan Tree for a wedding that was held there. We had never been to Mexico before and had never stayed an a Banyan Tree. We were so incredibly impressed by this place. When you first arrive, they personally greet you with a flower bracelet and check you in. They took us to our rooms and showed us how everything worked. The facilities were amazing. We had our own private, warm pool, a beautiful rainfall shower, very large bathroom with two sinks, and a large bedroom. Each villa gets two bicycles that you can ride all over the resort. I have read many reviews about people complaining about the bikes and the offer of no helmets. 1. The bikes are in good condition. 2. They offer helmets when you arrive 3. You sign a liability waiver. Some of the paths can be a bit bumpy and wobbly, so just be careful. We had zero problems with the bikes and they honestly were a highlight of our trip! We used the travel office on site to book two tours last minute. They were absolutely incredible. In terms of food, everything we ate was marvelous. The beach service was incredible, the water clear and warm, and the atmosphere so relaxing. The room service was so good and quick! the best room service I have ever had. We also ate at Saffron. The food was delectable. We even had an adorable baby lizard sit on the edge of our table. Everything we ate was incredible. We got the breakfast Oriente buffet included in our rooms and boy is it worth it! The buffet has so many options and free, unlimited mimosas! We started every day there! There is so much wildlife and I really consider that a plus. As a traveler who appreciates nature, come here! If you read reviews about not liking the lizards and monkeys, you have to realize that you are in a resort in the middle of mangroves! The nature is what makes this place so beautiful and special. The mosquitoes are not fun, but that is also to be expected in the mangroves. Bring lots of bug spray. Avoid the natural kind because it doesn't work. All of the restaurants have spray in case you forgot! Also, go on the eco-tour! You get to see so many animals and ride on a boat through the mangroves. It was gorgeous. They even created a whole new tour since the previous one filled up. As for service, everyone I met was so incredibly nice and helpful. They made me feel comfortable to practice my Spanish. I sincerely felt welcome there and I felt that everyone enjoyed being in such a beautiful place. We had one of the best weekends of our life at Banyan Tree Mayakoba. I highly recommend it!
