Reviews for Fairmont Heritage Place Mayakoba

Great Family Resort

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

The breakfast/lunch is delicious and very affordable compared to hotel restaurants. Very good service from staff and heritage place has the best pool in all Mayakoba. Very private and great for families. If you have a small family Fairmont Heritage Place is THE spot.

A perfect spring break vacation

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We booked a 5 night stay at the Fairmont Heritage Place Mayakoba during our daughter's high school spring break vacation, March 16 - March 21, 2024. We live in Manhattan and are fractional owners at the Fairmont Heritage Place (Inspiration by the Bay) in Miramar Beach, Florida. This year we decided to try a Heritage Place somewhere new for her spring break vacation within the Fairmont/Accor resort options. With several non-stop flights from NYC to Cancun, Mexico, the Fairmont Mayakoba was an easy choice. The Cancun airport was crowded but we were out of immigration in about an hour and easily found our driver from Mayakoba (booked through the Fairmont) once we got our bags. Once you enter the main gate and enter the Fairmont property, the Heritage Place is a separate community of residences. The HP lobby clubhouse is beautiful with open air architecture overlooking the pools. Our 3 BR villa (a middle villa) was perfect for the 4 of us on this trip. We had enough bathrooms for my daughter and her best friend and my husband and I were in the main bedroom and on the other end of the villa. Our villa was clean, everything appeared to be new and nicely furnished, just like you see in the photos. We had breakfast most mornings at the Heritage Place clubhouse (9am - 11am?). The HP is walking distance to the main lobby of the Hotel (note - the Hix bar-lounge was open until 11pm) and is also an easy walk to the La Laguna area (once we figured out our way around). We liked the location of the HP because we did not have to always rely on the golf cart shuttles to get to the Hotel restaurants, gift shop, pools, or La Laguna, even though they run constantly throughout the resort to pick people up. With that said, we were never waiting long for a pick up to/from the beach area. It is hard to pick a favorite restaurant, but the Sunday Beach Food Fest at the Rosewood Aqui Me Quedo restaurant was hard to top! It was a great experience outside on their beach and a lot of fun. The food at each food truck "station" was different and there was live music. Book in advance! We also enjoyed our dinner at the Fairmont Ki Korean Bbq dinner on the beach which we did our first night upon arriving. Drinks at the rooftop bar Cielo (beach) are a must with the beautiful view. We also had very good meals at Tauro, Fuego and La Laguna. The food was great everywhere we ate at the Fairmont. We ate at Saffron one night (Banyan Tree) which was nice for the atmosphere outside on the canals but the food was mediocre. However, it was nice to go to one of the other resorts and was something different to do so I am glad we went. It is obvious the Fairmont has just gone through an expensive renovation because everything is new and beautiful with impeccable landscaping, open air restaurants and a nice flow. We had great service everywhere we went and the staff could not have been more friendly. One of the benefits to staying at the Heritage Place is having a butler help you with resort information, reservations and transportation when you need it. Alejandro was our butler at the Heritage Place and we enjoyed getting to know him during our trip! He arranged our dinner reservations (I gave him a list of where we wanted to go) and transportation to/from Rosewood and Banyan Tree. You really need this personal liaison at a resort this big and we were grateful we had him for questions and for information. He made sure our villa was stocked with the few things we asked for too. We ran into Alejandro a few times at the beach area during our stay, discussed restaurants and he always came over to say hello and ask if we needed anything. Thank you Alejandro! From what we saw, the Fairmont has the most expansive, nicest beach and beach set up of the 4 resorts, and is right in the middle. Despite how crowded the resort was (we were told it was at full capacity), we could always get chairs at the beach and there was never a long wait for lunch service or drinks at our chairs. There are enough pools for everyone. All in all, we had a wonderful beach vacation at a new place and we will definitely go back. Our daughter and her friend had a great time too and were never bored. I would highly recommend a vacation at the Fairmont if you are considering the Mayakoba. The Heritage Place was a great choice for us and being in a villa property was a special vacation experience.

Great stay at heritage for multiple families

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

Would give 4.5 if half stars were available. First trip to mayakoba area and stayed in a 3 bedroom villa at heritage place with 4 adults and 4 kids (6, 6, 4 and 3). Villa was the perfect set up for us and really spacious. We loved the heritage place pools-had them to ourselves most afternoons. The grounds are beautiful and loved the jungle and lagoon surroundings- made for way more interesting trip than a typical u-shape hotel on the beach in riviera Maya. Hotel did a good job with service considering it was the busiest week for spring break so some hiccups and longer waits are to be expected. Our villa was not ready by 4pm check in which was frustrating after a very long travel day but Daniel our butler and hotel management worked with us to make things right and we appreciated that so much! Pools were amazing, don't even think we visited all of them. Beach was great and the small pool right on the beach was awesome for the kids. Food was the best we've ever had in Cancun area and we've stayed at quite a few places. Spa was wonderful and the husbands raved about the golf course. Our butler Daniel was amazing and helped with all of our reservations and was so friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Highly recommend requesting him at heritage place. Kids club was good. Kids liked some of the activities that took them around the hotel like scavenger hunt but not really the ones inside the kids club room. A lot of the activities cost $25 which was a bit annoying as most kids clubs we've used at other hotels have been free. Our 3 year old had a babysitter a few days who was also good. The biggest negative that did start to frustrate us was how long we waited for golf carts to get us at heritage place to go to pool or beach. Sometimes it was 20 minutes and with four young kids they got very antsy and walking wasn't an option (too far). We were also late to dinners and appointments and just felt sort of stranded sometimes. Sounds like they are working on a solution and if they can sort that out it would really make things five star. If they can get the golf carts figured out we hope to be back again next year!

Amazing spring break vacation

We had an excellent experience with our butler Alejandro. He was extremely accommodating and helpful and made our stay so pleasant! We had an amazing time by the beautiful beach and enjoyed the variety of restaurants the resort had to offer.

Beautiful Resort, food is lacking.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 months ago

The resort and pools are beautiful and we always had room at the pools, the room was very nice as well. The downfall is the food quality, luckily we did not choose the all inclusive package so we were able to eat off site. The adjoining resort the Banyan Tree has much better quality food, we ate at the Thai and Italian restaurants at the Banyan Tree and they were excellent. It’s a quick walk or golf cart ride to the restaurants at the neighboring resort.
